How much can I afford to spend?
Keep in mind that you’ll be spending more if your wedding gown has more details. That said, if the wedding dress you had in mind is a ball gown with multiple layers of diaphanous fabric, or a fully beaded number, turning that vision into reality does not come cheap. Be upfront with your designer about your budget, so that s/he can suggest styles that could work.
At what time and season will we hold the wedding?
A full-length wedding gown in a heavy fabric could look elegant for an event at dusk, but it could spell disaster for a morning ceremony in the sweltering heat. Talk to your designer about the time and season of the wedding, so that s/he can school you about the different fabric weights and bridal gown styles appropriate for your wedding. Pay attention to comfort; you’ll be wearing your wedding dress the entire day.
