Hi maedonnas, any recommended countries/cities to visit which is kapitbahay lang ng Frankfurt?

Haven't done any thorough research yet but will do.

From Frankfurt you could go to France, Belgium, Netherland, Luxembourg yan mga katabing countries sa side ng Frankfurt. But you could go basically anywhere from Frankfurt kasi major airport din siya so pili ka mga cities na masusulit mo ang Europe

^sis, how long is your tour from Frankfurt? Here are suggestions, pero driving ito at overly ambitious but driving hours are within 2-5h between cities:
IT1: Frankfurt, Rothenburg, Munich, Vienna, Prague, Berlin
IT2: Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Cologne, Hamburg, Copenhagen, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Munich
IT3: Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Zurich, Vaduz, Munich, Prague, Berlin, Cologne

I-enter mo na lang itong routes na ito sa google maps and see kung ano pang stop-overs niyo for these ITs.

Oh my gosh, my euro trip is next month na! Thanks for all your help, ladies

My almost finalized itinerary is as follows: (I don't have any tickets yet for the Paris leg of our trip, so comments are welcome! there's still a bit of time and wiggle room to improve but I bought most of the tickets already)

Day 1 - arrive in Rome noon; go see Spanish steps, Trevi, Pantheon and then eat at the Jewish Ghetto
Day 2 - food tour in the AM; wander around Trastevere area then dinner there
Day 3 - St. Peter's Basilica, Scavi tour, Vatican Garden, Castel S'ant Angelo
Day 4 - Pompeii and Vesuvius whole day tour
Day 5 - Colosseum, Palantine Hill, Roman Forum area
Day 6 - depart Rome AM; arrive in Florence go around; might go to the Duomo (worth it ba?)
Day 7 - Accademia and Uffizi museums and going around town
Day 8 - Carrara marble quarry, Pisa and Lucca tour
Day 9 - San Gimignano, Siena and Monteriggioni tour
Day 10 - Depart Florence after lunch; arrive in Venice
Day 11 - St. Mark's Basilica, Doge's secret itineraries tour, Grand Canal vaporetto
Day 12 - is there time to go to Murano or Burano? Need to be at the airport by 3PM; arrive in Lyon PM
Day 13 - HOHO bus tour - Lyon
Day 14 - HOHO bus tour - Lyon
Day 15 - Depart Lyon early AM; check-in in Paris then immediately depart for Versailles (didn't want to do this super hectic but the fountains only play during weekends )
Day 16 - HOHO bus tour (to familiarize ourselves with the area); Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, etc.
Day 17 - HOHO bus tour (is this still needed?) Orsay and Seine river cruise
Day 18 - Louvre AM and Montmartre PM walking tour
Day 19 - Latin Quarter AM and Marais PM; Orsay (if not done on Day 4 - late closing time)
Day 20 - Whatever we still want to see, eat or buy (any suggestions?)
Day 21 - Depart Paris AM

^Re Venice, if you really want to visit Burano/Murano I would do this on day 11. If you take the ferry before 10am, you'll be done with both islands by 2-3pm. Then you can go around San Marco until late at night. You have long daylight hours naman so you can really maximize your visit.

For your day 12, I would concentrate around San Marco area lang since you have to be at the airport by 3pm. You can do the Secret Itineraries first thing on day 12 too. We got the first tour at 9am and was done before 11am. Visit the Italy thread for more tips.


Re Lyon and Paris, in my opinion not worth it yung HoHo bus since madali umikot especially in Lyon. Compact yung city plus the public transpo is very convenient. Backread ka sa France thread for more tips/suggestions on both cities.

I am planning a two week itinerary for my parents. Doing some back reading but I have a rough idea na kung saan ko sila dadalhin. The big cities like Paris and Rome are sure on my list, but I also would like to visit some european countryside.

I've been to Volendam, Edam, Marken and Zaanse Schans in Netherlands (day trip from Amsterdam). Meron ba kayong masusuggest na ganitong day trip, I mean countryside feel na not too far from the main city in countries like France and Germany?

I just thought of the HOHO bus kasi baka super pagod na kami sa kakalad by the time we're in Lyon hahaha I signed up for the Lyon City Greeters walking tour which is for free but subject to a volunteer that can take us around on the requested date. I've also signed up for some free Paris walking tours instead of the HOHO bus.

^Yup, we did the free Lyon city walking tour too. It was a good one since it gave us a quick orientation of the city. Expect the walk to last mga two hours.

Sept 11 - 14 Santorini (excited na ako dito!!!)
Sept 15 - 17 Prague
Sept 18 - 19 Vienna

Sept 20 Venice (whole day lang ako mag iikot sa venice mag isa, napuntahan ko naman siya last year gusto ko lang balikan)

Sept 21 Rome (balikan ko lang ulit colosseo, hindi ko kasi siya napasukan last year kasi close)
Sept 22 back home

^Oh we did that! It was fun! But you can't do this as a day trip from the big cities.

@entwife, re day trips there are too many to mention. Try to visit the individual France and Germany threads for some ideas. Just to give you an idea, I just came from the Provence region in France. We based ourselves in Avignon for 3 days and did day trips to Uzés, Pont du Gard, Arles, Les Baux de Provence, etc. Though you have to have a car to do this.

Thanks sa suggestions. I will visit those threads, pero I do not drive, and I always travel by myself or minsan pag may mahatak na friend. Backpacking style so I rely on public transportation.

Pero ngayon I am looking to go to Switzerland, sobrang ganda ng Alps sa pictures.

^The European rail system is pretty comprehensive so no problem getting from one place to the other. But of course since you have easy access to these places expect them to be busy and touristy not exactly the countryside feel you are looking for. But still there are a lot of nice places within easy reach of the big cities.

hi i_miss_sleep, thanks for the suggestion. I will check out the countries/cities that you listed and see what tourist spots that I can visit. Usually ang naiisip ko lang kasi is yun big cities like Paris, Rome, Venice, etc. I don't drive so magrely lang ako sa public transportation but Frankfurt will always be my point of origin. It's my first time to travel to EU.

Hi there! Not sure if this is the correct thread to ask this but I just wanted to inquire if you pay mostly with cash or credit card while traveling in Europe, mainly Italy and France? What I plan to do is just bring 1000 Euro in cash for a 21 day trip then just card the rest when I can since I only "pay" for the exchange rate - no foreign transaction fees. Do most establishments (restaurants and shops) take credit? Thanks!

^sa major and popular cities most of the retail outlets, restaurants, etc accept card. Mostly visa and mastercard, bihira and diners and AE. Before I always use my card since I didn't want to bring a lot of cash, mahirap na. But then after every trip I would always receive a call from my bank of suspected fraud charges kaya they have to replace my card (sa Europe trips ko lang naman na-experience ito, my US and Asia trips no problem). So now I would only use my card for big purchases at major outlets, sa mga tabi-tabi na store or cafes I use cash. Pag naubusan I just withdraw from an ATM, konti lang naman ang difference sa FX.

^Thanks mama squeak! my credit card just tell us to advise them of any travel plans so that it will allow purchases made during the course of the trip. Hopefully safe naman gamitin sa Europe.

hello! planning a 12 days honeymoon trip either on nov 16-28 or dec 23-jan3. places to see ay paris, rome, florence, optional lucerne. malaki na ba ang difference sa daylight between those dates? pati sa weather at business hours ng mga tourist places?

parang ang sarap din kasi kung xmas and new yr celebration na rin. pero baka sobrang ginaw naman at mas konti makita namin.
