All about our Baby's Vaccination - PART 10

Doc LeletMD, as a doctor, what is your opinion sa Dengvaxia or the Dengue Vaccine released by Sanofi?

Please need your insights.

Thank you.

^ It took more than 20 years of research to develop Dengvaxia. It has undergone numerous trials and revisions just to make sure that it is effective and safe.
Based on the available research data, it is safe to be given to kids 9 years old and above. There is lesser protection and more side effects in kids 2 to 5 years old which is why the recommended age group is 9 years old and above.
There is actually more protection for kids who have had dengue infection before compared to kids who have not been infected so SnowBall, better to have your eldest vaccinated since she will have more protection.

Here is the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society of the Philippines (PIDSP) statement on the use of the Dengue vaccine:

^Thank you very very much Doc Lelet, super appreciated your post regarding this, super thank you :)

Thank you ulit Doc Lelet, more power, mwahmwah :)

^ There is no age limit to getting to the chicken pox or varicella vaccine. Even adults can have themselves immunized if they haven't had chicken pox yet or they haven't been vaccinated yet.
Your daughter can get the 1st dose now as a catch up vaccine then get the 2nd dose at 4 years old (recommended age for 2nd dose).

hi doc lelet... my baby had the complete PCV series (4 doses)... need pa rin ba niya ng PPV vaccine kapag 2 years old na siya?
Also, bakit po 2 doses ang flu vaccine pag 1st time ibibigay sa babies?

Hi sissies/Doc Lelet,

My daughter is scheduled for Meninggo vax. She's now 15 months old, this has been scheduled by her pedia months ago pa, but has been repeatedly re-scheduled by me because of my hectic sked. I want kasi to be the one with my daughter when she gets her vaccines.

Question: Is there an age limit for meninggo vax? I also saw Varicella vax as the next, will there be a period of time gap needed for these two vaccines?

Thank you! :)

@gwyne21:
If he doesn't belong to the high risk category (those with congenital heart or kidney disease, etc.) and he has completed the 4 dose PCV series, then no need for PPV.
Kailangan 2 doses ang flu vaccine for kids less than 9 years of age because studies showed na hindi enough ang 1 dose to build protection.

@hunn:
Meningococcal conjugate vaccine can be given as early as 9 months of age as a 2 dose series given at least 3 months apart. If given at 2 years of age, only 1 dose is needed. There is no age limit for the meningococcal vaccine.
The 1st dose of the Varicella vaccine is usually given starting at 12 months of age. The 2nd dose is given at 4 years of age.
For time gap or interval, best to ask your pedia.

@ilovemybaby01:
You can bring back your baby to the local health center for his delayed vaccination. Just explain what happened.

baby is 1 month old last sep15.
