Napanood ko din yung video- and I don't think the point is whether we ALL find it offensive or not. It WAS OFFENSIVE for the person involved - Mariz, and of course her husband.

From the way Mariz responded to it, she just wanted her question answered, but no, Duterte delved on his 'joke' - any woman in that position would feel offended.

Same here sis Spacemonkey, what's with the 'playing you guys' or 'you don't understand his strategy'? Campaign season's OVER. This is work na - no time for games.

And yes,  TomHansen: Right now, he's the man-who-can-do-no-wrong to them. Lagi syang tama. Kahit anong mali nya, his supporters can find a way to make him 'tama'.


I want to support him too. Because really, we all don't have a choice. He IS president. Pero ngayon pa lang, press con pa lang - hindi ko na maintindihan ang direksyon na gusto nyang patunguhan. Gusto nya bang bwisitin ang press? Ipinaparating ba nyang sya palagi ang tama?

I mean after saying he had 'freedom of expression' he actually DENIED he was whistling at Mariz, he justified it as 'exasparated with the question' kaya sya sumisipol. I mean really? The entire context of what he said before and after the whistling was not even related to the question.

So next time ba na may sumipol sa inyo sa kalsada ok lang? Matutuwa kayo kasi compliment yun? Pag ginawa sa anak nyo? Ok lang din, palalagpasin nyo? Or pinalalagpas lang dahil si Duterte yon?

So far the only thing he did RIGHT is his most recent announcement. No more press cons muna daw. Sa PTV-4 na lang daw sya mag-announce. Maigi nga. Pagisipan nya muna yung lalabas sa bibig nya.

I said i was disappointed with what happened. And if the reporter got offended, dapag lang magsorry si duterte. Magsorry because may naoffend, not necessarily because what he did was harrassment.

But then again, from what i see, it's all a plan. He knows he is not prim and proper, hindi diplomatic and yet it looks like uncontrollable siya. He knows many people will get angry. Pero bakit pa rin ginagawa? We'll see after several days kapag nakaupo na siya. That's the time malalaman natin na haka haka lang pala yung mga tactics na sinasabi o totoo pala talaga.

The whistling/catcall is offensive. Mariz is a close friend of mine and she has always been super nice — does not think badly of people as much as she can. But she did get offended. Mariz went there as a professional. They were not in a beer house that people would still think that wolf whistle or catcalling is not offensive. It was a press conference and she was doing her professional job. The wolf whistle, catcall, and serenade were just plain wrong.

What I dislike more is people defending those actions in social media and even blaming Mariz to be overly sensitive. She’s not. We are in 2016 already, not 1956. Catcalling is an act inherently associated to graver acts of harassment, sexual abuse, and rape. We cannot cover it with “men are men” or “ganun talaga mga lalake” or, horrors, “it’s a compliment”. Those actions disrespect women. You don’t do those to people you respect. If we want change, if we want less cases of sexual abuses, we must teach our men to respect women. It is easy for any man to abuse women if they didn’t learn to respect them.

Sa catcalling / whistling ako magcocomment - for me, it was really offensive, and (sabi nga ni raffy tima) improper on all levels. Alam ko naman kung anong uri ng tao yung binoto, but some things are just cannot be overlooked.

Sana pare-parehas na may natutunan ang both camps, lalo na kina P.Digong.
Sya na din nagsabi that he will not change for anything. Ayun nga, nag-announce na kahapon na hindi na daw sya magpapa-presscon. Iwas na lang na malagay uli sa ganun situation.

Most will just bend over for duts, bend their views tungkol sa pambabastos niya just so they can protect their ego sa pagboto sa kanya. Titigil nga siya sa pagpapapres con pero yung ugali niya pa rin di nagbabago. Papaano na kapag nakikipag-usap na siya sa ibang bansa, mahirap bang magpakadisente? I am more concerned sa pagbili ng giant Telcos na Globe and PLDT sa Frequency meron si San Miguel Beer. While most people are so focus on the whistling/cat calling ni Du30,barely 3 weeks bago umupo si Du30 meron ng last minute signing of contract between these 3 companies. I'm not sure anong say ng NTC Commissioner dito? I'm not saying na balewalein na yun recent issue ni President Du30 pero sana naman tignan din natin at pag-ukulan din ng attention ng mga tao/media yang mga last minute na contract signing/agreement na yan. What this will mean to us faster internet speed kuno pero super taas ng internet charges. Wag lang tayo focus sa isang topic at ilan days pag-ussapan at pagddebatihan.

^ To clarify on that, Mariz has interviewed him before. They're NOT friends. Any girl can get offended with such acts especially if you're not close.

If people insist on defending the action as non-offensive, probably it's because they still insist to see it with their archaic values. A lot of female Duterte supporters admit it was wrong (Liza Dino, Pia Cayetano, etc.).

I do hope we can move on to more important things than fanatics continuing to defend the act and even accusing Mariz now as "nabayaran", or asking for fame. You don't know her. I do. She has upright values, worked hard her entire life to graduate top of her class since grade school, and took longer in the news world to be noticed precisely because she insisted on working righteously & honestly without papansin moves. She's never the type who wants fame. She's only doing what she loves and giving her best into it.

As far as I know I am not defending digong. Sinabi ko rin na disappointed ako. But I am more focusing on other things kesa sa isang bagay na pinalaki na ng iba. Gusto ko sana na tulad ng pagpapalaki ng isang bagay, palakihin niyo rin kung ano ang mga importanteng bagay na sinabi niya. Kaso hindi mangyayari yun kahit sa media. Why? Kasi galit kayo sa kanya o hindi niyo siya gusto. Wala na akong magagawa dun. Pero hindi dahil ayaw niyo sa kanya, igegeneralize niyo na pinagtatanggol namin siya sa lahat. I can't wait na makaupo na siya. Lalong magngingitngit ang mga kaaway. Pinagdadasal ko rin na sana pumreno din siya sa pagsasalita kahit papano para lahat masaya.

At oo mabuti yan, wala na sanang media coverage sa kanya ang showbiz media. Tutal, sanay ang mga cheap media na yan na exaggerated ang headlines and articles makakuha lang ng rating.

Nakakaawa lang din sa social media, dapat maging vigilant tayo pero hindi dapat mag away away ang mga pilipino. Eh kaso, lahat ng tao "magagaling" hay.

Add ko lang: nanonood ako ng thanksgiving party nila ni cayetano. Ang dami niyang sinasabing magaganda o. Talagang palamura lang. Dami ko rin friends na laging nagmumura. Wala naman akong problema dun. Alam ko kasi mabait naman sila. pag usapan natin mga plano niya? Maiba naman. Puro ka-negahan na kasi nababasa ko from haters sa social media. Reading the story of Roben Abdella, the Badjao kid who graduated Magna Cum Laude, I now believe that there is a way out for them. If there is anybody out there who knows Roben Abdella personally, please tell him to get in touch with me. I would like to hire him in the Department of Agriculture and I will give him a specific task - to reach out to his fellow Badjaos and help them feel that there is a government which cares for them.

Actually, inspired by the inclusive governance started by President Duterte in his city, I have already identified a Muslim Maguindanao woman to be one of the Undersecretaries under the DA. Lawyer Ranibai Dilangalen, along with entrepreneurial management expert Pompee Laviña and high value crops advocate Evelyn Laviña (no relation) are among the people I will recommend to President Duterte to be appointed to join me in the DA as Undersecretary.

I have also recruited two young accountants, a Bilaan and a Kaulo which are both mountain tribes in Mindanao, to join the DA. There will also be efforts to recruit members of the Cordilleran tribes - Igorot, Ifugao or Kalinga - to help me in the agricultural concerns in the Mountain Provinces. I also intend to hire bright Mangyan kids to work with me in my program to turn Mindoro Island into a key food production area."

come to think of it, i have male friends who catcalled me in parties, weddings, etc. just because i dressed up. i dont dressed up all the time so siguro naninibago sila but i never find it offensive. siguro kung tambay sa kanto na di ko naman kilala, yun maiinis ako hahaha!

and i agree let's move on. fanatics should stop defending him as well as his HATERS should also stop bashing him. and i propose no more press con for duterte. official statements nalang. dito sa uae hinde naman nagpapa presscon mga leaders dito. hinde din naman effective yung pa-barkada effect conversations ni duterte with the public. not everybody likes him and everybody has a say on how a national leader conducts himself. and honestly, media is just waiting for duterte to make mistakes. on endorsing national killings, please read the whole video on that and understand the things he said about it as a whole. hinde yung isang linya lang nya ang focus. 

anyways tuwang tuwa talaga ako sa oplan rody na pinapalaganap ngayon. sana this will be seriously implemented even after his term. so far i like his cabinet secretaries too, except dun kay mark villar.
