Finally the thread is alive again! Amanda is our coordinator. She's amazing! Honestly, I don't want to bombard her with a million questions regularly so I wanted to do some of my own digging. Are there hidden costs you know of that we should be aware of, generally speaking?

Do you have a menu for your rehearsal dinner? Any recos? Will you be having group activities apart from the wedding itself? We are having a multi-day wedding celebration but not yet sure of the third (and final activity) -- someone suggested a cruise or island-hopping -- we can do that but prefer to find another option that is cheaper. I know not all guests will join for the final day but worth looking into!

How are brides affected sa pag "close" ng Boracay?

Personally, I'm not worried. Feeling ko beneficial pa sya kasi those illegal establishments (yung walang environmental permits), will be forced to close or will have to fix their sanitation.

Tapos, there's a collective effort to clear the beachfront area so that it's wider again. Tapos feeling ko there will be deals, sales to attract people to go to Boracay so babagsak hotel prices and maybe even airfare. Affected lang siguro yung mga brides na nagbook with suppliers who will close down -- but that's why you only book with legitimate businesses with the right standards, permits and sustainability commitments.

They plan to close Boracay for 1 year soon after Pres. Duterte signs the recommendation. How will this affect brides booked on those wedding dates?

You can move to Bohol or Cebu but sayang naman hotel accommodation and airfares already booked

^my friend who is getting married at shanrgila boracay is worried dahil diyan sa closing of the island. She is waiting for updates from her coordinator. Bale nakapag down na siya sa lahat, entourage and mga sponsors na lang ang kulang niya all set na.

Hope and pray madelay yang decision. Sadly, im sure Boracay brides are the least of the govt's concerns right now. E kung yung business owners and employees nga na everyday life nila and income andoon, hindi mapagbigyan, grabe yun. Im sad for those na compliant naman damay padin sila if the whole island is closed down.

I am one of her bridesmaids. They own a hotel there so booking a room will not be a problem yung flight lang talaga on my part. Room is not free may discount lang kame.

Yes may na kame and nakakastress. Dagdag stress Ito sobra. Pero wala naman ako nag-away but wait and decide form there.

Ano balak ng friend mo? And Hindi ba tag-ulan ang October?

^sis april 26 ang proposed start ng closure. You can google it. Nabasa ko lang sa news. I am monitoring it dahil i need to book a flight cheaper kung may promos.

Pero since matagal pa naman wedding maybe they can still change venue in case matuloy ang closure.

Yun nga e sa part ng guests rin mahirap since hindi nila alam kung tuloy or what. Yung sa friend ko may mga mag fly in pa from other countries so yung iba naka bili na ng ticket.

Update ka dito sis. Let us know what happened. Thanks!

My coordinator is amanda tirol and she said the same samin if mag close nga transfer na lang. Wala pa update about the vendors though so antay pa kame.

Feeling ko tama din ipaclose bora kasi dumi na talaga, but they can?t do it abruptly. Dami affected. They should have announced it like a year before then tsaka nila niclose.

Same tayo ng feeling sis.

May options kame ngayon:

1. ituloy ang church wedding namin sa Boracay pero sa November na
2. ilipat ang church wedding namin sa ibang lugar, gahol na gahol sa oras (less than 2 mos to go), pero lahat ng tulong naman andoon from our suppliers..

pros and cons:
- pag ibang venue, magbabayad kame ng travel/accomm ng suppliers if wala kameng mahanap na ibang suppliers since mejo late booking na. Konti lang naman, like HMUA, Coordination, kasi yung photo/video namin manila-based so may travel na talaga kame for them
- sa November na wedding, natatakot kame na baka maulan.. is november rainy season in the philippines ba?
- sa November na wedding, mahaba-haba vacation namin beacuse we can extend until thanksgiving sa US
- may mga guests na baka di na makaupunta because of leave planning -- naka plan na sila for May... tapos even if waived ng PAL/CebuPac ang fees sa Bora flight, yung international flights baka hindi i-waive.. we will still try though, and show them the tickets for Boracay...

Sis anong gagawin nyo? help?! We need to decide today!

^I agree it was a hasty decision and they underestimated how it will directly affect people.

Im a bit hesitant at the idea of moving to Nov sis kasi with the way the govt makes decisions baka mamaya pagdating ng Oct they say na di natapos yung cleanup and Boracay needs another 6 months or a year. Pwede ka ulit magulat...there are no guarantees sa 6 months na yan and it could delay your lives.

Do you really prefer a beach wedding?
How about considering neighbouring islands if cebu, etc. Worse case, you can consider Bali or Phuket 😁

If I?m in your shoes, parang ayoko na ipostpone. But that?s just me.

Good luck sis to your planning! Just bear in mind na ang pinaka importante is ikakasal kayo and spending the rest of your lives together. Though we want the best for our wedding,  ceremonial lang ang mga wedding preps, Mas importante parin yung pagsasama nyo.

^thanks mga sis.

hindi naman ako bridezilla.. plus we are married na last year. We just wanted a catholic wedding too so we opted to do it in the Philippines para minimoon na rin. Our real honeymoon is this June in Europe.

+yup i think hubby and i are going to stick to a May wedding and just move it na lang nga ng venue... mejo may konting additional gastos na hindi budgeted so we are asking na lang for concessions sa mga suppliers para lahat may adjustment...

mejo sigh kasi ayoko na sana isipin ito now but here we are....
