Hallerski, do some designers really buy back the gowns that they made? That's interesting! Hehe

I think it's possible na some designers buy back the gowns they made.. I read kase a blog somewhere na some designers do that.  Either they display it sa shops nila or they let potential clients try it.. Or sometimes TV shows rent it from them for taping purposes esp on those scenes when the actress gets married and wear bridal gown..
Kaya nagkaron ako ng idea! Haha!

Thanks sis! That's interesting. Although I don't think mine would. Haha. But hmmm... but you gave me an idea. Maybe I can have my gown rented. I don't know if my husband or my mum would approve though. Hahaha! Sobrang sayang lang kasi the gown. :( Good thing I only got a mid-range gown otherwise manghihinayang talaga ako!!!

thanks for the encouragement belle_v2g and caleeice!! =) BTW regarding gown preservation... I think 30k is too much! I had my 1st gown dry cleaned and stored in a thick plastic bag. I actually used those really thick plastic bags that come with bed comforters when you buy them. I placed the gown in the box, then covered the box with another layer of plastic.

Anyway recently I took my old gown out again after I had gotten engaged. Anyway it has been 10 years and yet the gown was preserved well. This is despite the fact that the gown is Pina fabric which doesnt really age well and tends to discolor over time. My gown wasnt discolored or yellowing. To think that the gown was also placed in our attic where it is extremely hot and humid.

I think the trick is to really have it cleaned very well, and wrapped multiple times and as airtight as possible, and kept away from any sunlight. Make sure daw that there is absolutely no moisture on the gown before you wrap it. Then every few years I think some people air out their gowns. I dunno if airing out fabric is advisable even for non-pina fabric. But Pina has to be aired out occasionally daw.

BTW you can also add those desiccant gel packs just to be extra sure that there is no moisture! My mom's debut gown wasn't preserved because it ended up having moisture spots... which are dark dots all over the fabric =( =(  Those are the worst!

naku mga sis, mine naman, 1 week before the wedding nung fitting ko sabi nila sa shop pumayat daw ako kasi hindi na ganun kahirap isara yung gown ko, pero days before the wedding nag gain ako ng weight  dahil sa mga birthday party ang buffet na pinuntahan namin ni hubby..day itself, muntikan ng di maisara gown ko, as in kinabahan na talaga kami kasi 4 na person na nagtutulong mag sara ng gown ko,lol! kaya super tiis ganda talaga ako nun sis, di na talaga ako nakakain during the reception kasi ayaw na bumaba ng food, lol!

I think you'll lose weight talaga naturally from all the worrying Chili1113. :D Might have a post-nup para lang I can wear it again at least one more time, if I can fit into it somehow hehe.

My grandma told me na good luck daw anayin yung gown, sign daw na dadami pera niyong mag-asawa haha! Bili nga ako ng termite colony, pakain ko siya kung ganun!

Thank you for the tips Chili! Very helpful!!!! :) As I really don't want to spend 30k to have it preserved, I will do your recommendations when we go to my parents' house this weekend. I haven't seen it since my mum got it from the cleaners. Hehe!

Good news yan na natural weight loss before the wedding due to stress hehe. I started working out regularly only 3-4 months ago and I haven't really lost any significant weight---just 2 pounds. I'm 47kg but at my lightest I was about 41kg, really underweight!

My friends say I must be building muscle because I'm not losing weight, and also not becoming payatot despite 2-3 hours of gym, 3-4x a week. They can see it daw, my thighs, shoulders, butt are actually bulking up and looking toned. I'd be happy to lose a few more pounds sana but I can't force my body as I also don't want to diet hehe. I guess it's figure over weight kung papapiliin ako. 2 pounds lang nawala sakin pero I've lost 1.5 inches off my waist.

Ladies: How many pounds did you lose before the wedding? And how many months before did you start losing weight? DId you diet or did you lose weight without even trying?

sis Chili1113, you still have time. :) i started to eat less after the holidays. kumbaga last na bonggang foodfest ko na yung christmas/new year and after that i stopped eating rice (mga 1-2x a week lang) and ate more veggies. pero naniniwala na ko dun sa stress-caused weight loss kase i had my final fitting 5 days before the wedding at nung nakita ko na kasya naman pala yung gown eh i started eating regularly after pero on the day of the wedding, nagulat yung assistant ng designer ko kase lumuwag daw yung gown. hindi ko talaga alam kung pano pa ko pumayat pero siguro stress nga talaga. haha!

natawa naman ako sa grandma mo sis Jailalee! kaso parang di ko ata kaya na ipakain sa termites yung gown ko. hehe

in other gown-related concerns, gano katagal after the wedding kayo nagpa-laundry or dry clean ng gown? sa sobrang busy namin with the house stuff hindi ko madala sa cleaners yung gown. :(

Sis f878, i took the gown to the dry cleaners right away. Yung iba pamahiin nila wait for 1 year, pero since uulan ulan ngayon sa manila better have it cleaned kase masisira yung fabric, magkakaroon ng black spots. Sayang lang if ever.

@mija0126 - to answer your question from the previous thread, yes you need to secure na yung mga naka list na requirements for the marriage license.

Pre-cana/Catholic Encounter/Discovery Weekend - for Catholics, this is the marriage seminar required by Church. AFAIK, the couple should attend this. Di pwede si bride or si groom lang. Also, parang I read somewhere na series ito or medyo madaming meetings.

^ sis mija0126, yes sis, yan yung seminar. UsuAlly eh 2 days yan. Depende sa church ninyo, yung iba 2 weekends, minsan saturday & sunday, etc  Ideally eh sa church kung san kayo ikakasal, dun kayo aatend pre cana/discovery weekend/catholic encounter. Pero lets say if province kayo ikakasal pero sa manila kayo based, pwdeng sa manila na kayo mag pre cana.  ;)
