Hi. We are overseas couple.

Haha ano ba talaga.

hermione28: Even if previously married you still need to request for Cenomar. But since you've been legally married, di ka na bibigyan ng cenomar but an "Advisory of Marriage." The church will use that to check if you are marrying the same person you married in your civil wedding hehe

^yes. they will be the one to tell you the documents you need to submit based on your status. your preferred church will tell you which diocese/chancery to visit.

Hayyyy.

Anyway, thanks po.

^hermione28 I feel what you're going through. Actually my dad said kanina that he thinks less couples are getting married in churches because of their seemingly-never-ending-requirements. My fiancé and I are no longer Filipino citizens anymore kaya mas madami pa document requirements. My future MIL in Manila is the one helping us out with our document checklist and submission and we actually just got our clearance from the Chancery not too long ago. Hang in there! Good luck on your preps!

^diba?? I feel bad kapag sinasabi or naiisip ko yung ganto. Feeling ko ang sama sama ko to say or feel like this about our Church.

Pero totoo naman kasi, I know someone na hindi natuloy yung kasal as in, dahil hindi binigyan ng clearance ng chancery office.

Imagine cancelling or moving the dates of all your suppliers, waste of money ng mga air tickets, hotel booking, your leave sa office, and so many things! Grabe diba?? Di na sila naawa sa mga tao. :(
Gusto lang naman naten magpakasal sa simbahan. Hayy talaga.

if the couple werent able to submit all of their required documents, then the priest has the right not to wed them. its for their own good coz in the future those lacking requirements can be used to question the validity of their marriage. also, im very sure that the state would also not allow you to wed civilly if you didnt complete the requirements. mas madami lang talaga yung sa church but of course, magkaiba naman kasi ang church and state:) its really the responsibility of the couple:) i was also told that some soon to be wed couples didnt pass their canonical interviews and hence not able to wed. im not saying all but most likely, nakita ng pari na hindi pa sila ready magcommit.

i went to the chancery and yes medyo marami requirements and its very straightforward. ieexplain sa inyo step by step pano ito kumpletuhin. its quite simple but it requires time and effort from the couple or to those who will help you. im also glad that the people in the diocese in cubao are very nice and helpful.  they told me that i could call anytime. sanay na daw sila kinukulit. when i went there, the couple before me will be wed in 2 days and the staff were helping them secure documents and  get a priority schedule for canonical interview coz they forgot to attend the original schedule. hay i made a mental note to also give them a gift after our wedding. lets give the church preps the same amount of effort we give to the reception preps. guilty rin ako dito but as im going along the preps, i really felt that our wedding mass must be perfect and have quality suppliers too. at first kasi i didnt want to get our own priest na kasi hassle and just get the parish priest of our church but i realized, i really want a homily from a priest who knows us better:)

for overseas couples or for those who have foreign spouses, they are required to be in the philippines 3 weeks before the church wedding. if they are civilly wed, it is reduced to just 2 weeks. so thats one advantage for civilly wed couples.

ah talaga 3 weeks lang ba? We'll be home 25 days before the wedding but all documents, seminars, interviews says we need to complete it 1 month before the wedding that's why ngayon palang stress na ko for my July wedding.

Question mga sis may nabasa ako somewhere na dadaan kayo ng Archdiocese / chancery office if you live and work abroad for more than 2 years?

totoo ba to?

^that's what the diocese of cubao told me. my fiance and i will be civilly wed this year then have our church wedding next year. i told them that my foreign fiance/or husband by that time can come home at least a month before the wedding. with this, they scheduled our canonical 3 weeks before the church wedding. it can be as late as 1-2 weeks before but its just fortunate that he can come home early. they also said that 90% of the documents must be submitted by our canonical interview. ang mahuhuli lang naman daw are the requirements from the overseas or foreign partner/s, which is understandable.  for the pre-cana, i know it can happen as late as a week before the wedding. yung church nyo na magsschedule nyan, not the diocese.

it might be different per diocese so better check with your diocese:) good luck!

yes sis maraming documents and kailangan. as in super dami.

Kung tama yung naalala ko sa wedding ng sis ko, Kay chancery office mo talaga isusubmit yung documents including Birth Certificate, CENOMAR and all, then after all the documents bibigyan ka na nay ng clearance which you will submit sa church.

Saan ang church mo sis?

im not sure about this but i think its okay to send a representative who knows a lot about you, your fiance and your relationship to the chancery/diocese in case both of you aren't here in the philippines. at the last part of the questionnaire, may part kasi dun where a representative can sign and what his/her connection to the couple is.

correct me if im wrong na lang girls:)

Hello! I have a Q...

I'm a Catholic. My family converted to INC and I'm now the only RC in the family. Gusto ko makasal sa Catholic church, pero may problem yung family ko with regard to attending the ceremony INSIDE a Catholic church, INC does not allow their members to attend other [religious] activities outside INC or something. So we've decided to look for a priest na pwedeng magkasal sa amin. Catholic wedding outside the Church. Na ire-recognize ng RCC. The problem is, mukhang wala ng pumapayag dahil naghihigpit na daw ang RCC regarding weddings outside the Church.

Baka may kilala kayong priest na nag-aaccomodate ng weddings outside the Church? Or meron pa ba? [Bakit pag artista pwede? Bakit pag normal na mamamayan hindi na pwede? CHAROT. #hugot]

Any suggestions?

Thank you so much!  :)

Sis its for OFW or foreign nationals/citizens.  If you are both philippine citizen and living in the philippines, no need.

For widows/widowers ba, ang additional requirement for a church wedding is yung death certificate ng late spouse diba?

Does anyone know how long it takes to get the NSO copy of the MARRIAGE CERT. after the wedding?

I am about to book tickets for my honeymoon and I do not know if I should use my maiden name or married name. I cannot modify the tickets after purchase since this is a promo rate.

My passport is expiring a little before I get married so technically I should be applying for the new passport under my married name. Problem is I do not know if aabot the NSO copy by the time I need to apply for my passport and visa.

Please help!! Thank you!
