After the summer season, how are your Shih Tzus? 

Our pet, M started scratching like crazy and we can't find the cause so we brought him to the vet and we had so many shots and so many things to buy him . Anyway, we're taking him out of homemade food and bringing him back to hypoallergenic dog food.  Two weeks later, we need to bring him to the vet again for a follow up.

iyong vet ni Max said na habang they grow older, they will definitely be more sensitive and prone to allergy.  Just check whether it is weather induced allergy, food allergy or baka na-i-irritate din lang siya sa hair na niya.

^thanks sis.  Naka Papi Doxy siya, Brewer's Yeast and papaliguan na namin siya. May fleas pa din  House dog naman siya. Di namin siya pinapalabas kaya di ko alam where he got his fleas. 
What shampoo do you guys use? I'm planning on buying Fur Magic and Super Dog soap. One more bottle pa kami ng Papi Doxy.

^ try to put the front-line na collar na anti-tick, that was effective for our dogs sa Bulacan.  Not just sure kung meron niyan sa Pinas.  Clean the place where your dog stays din baka me nest yong mga fleas.

Our Georgie is 9 months na and she's very feisty. Napaka sungit (in a nice way) and she's the alpha over our boy jack russell.
When we got her, nagka parvo sya after a week. sobra heartbreaking and thank God she made it. She's our very first shihtzu. I always thought kasi na masyado girly girly sila pero ngayon lahat kami we're all crazy about her. Sobrang lambing, ayaw nya naiiwan magisa, gusto lagi kasama. She sleeps with us on the bed kasama si Eddie and me and my husband sobra in love talaga sa kanya 😀

^^ thanks sis! Yes to front line but maybe it's also weather induced? Started using Super Dog soap on him, was able to get most of the fleas (as in they would fall off while shampooing him) but there were still some that would show up     Am using Fur Magic shampoo now and so far, so good! No fleas - - yay!

Grabe! Nag-pop out yung mata ng shihtzu ko  Although hindi naman nalaglag, pero luwa na siya. Need na ng surgery. Nung nag-blood test, may liver problem naman, so kailangan pagalingin muna. Nakakaloka

Blind na kasi yung dog ko eversince, sabi ng vet, baka nauntog. And usually daw ganun talaga nangyayari sa shihtzu kasi shallow yung eye socket nila. Gulat ko nung lumuwa yung mata niya eh 

Nagblood test ulit siya yesterday, and may problem pa rin sa liver niya so pa rin siya nasusurgery haaaaay.

How much ba usually ang complete blood test? Sa vet ko 2500. Nakakatatlo na kami haha kakaloka.

^ I forgot exactly kung magkano yun pero ganun talaga sis mahal pag nagkakasakit. Naalala ko nung nagka UTI yung bb ko almost 15k yung nagastos ko including his medicines, urinalysis, prostate test, prescription diet at weekly urinalysis. Nakakapanghina pero for the sake of his health kinaya ko.

^ Grabe noh. Kaya talaga if may pet ka, dapat ready ka rin sa mga ganyang bagay haha hay. Siya nalang natira sa family niya, accdg to the owner of my dog's Mom, lahat ng babies, namatay mga 3 years old palang. Fighter din tong akin hehe

First time ko na magkaroon ng pet na sakitin haha. Yung 3 na dachshunds ko before, lahat healthy tapos namatay nalang due to old age.

Hello furmommies! i am a new mommy to my 6 month old shih tzu. 4 month old noong nabili namin siya sa breeder.  First time ko mag alaga ng aso at sobrang hindi ko pa alam kung paano. She is a girl and her name is Cassandra, Cass nickname niya.

Ang mga naging experience ko, una, ayaw syang bakunahan sa vet na malapit sa amin kasi hindi nila ini-honor na yung breeder lang ang nagbakuna ng 5-in-1.  pinapaulit nila lahat ng bakuna. hindi ko yun ginawa kasi sabi ng breeder, baka ma-overdose naman ang baby. so far, okay naman ang baby namin. Binabalik na lang namin para sa deworm. Pero balak ko na ako na lang ang bibili ng pang deworm at ako na ang magdedeworm sa kanya.

Pangalawa, maya't maya siyang gutom. gaano kadalas ba itong kumain? Feeling ko ginugutom namin siya. maya't maya humihingi ng pagkain. dog food binibigay namin sa kanya at hindi pa namin siya napapatimbang uli.

Pangatlo, hindi matuto-tuto kung saan iihi at dudumi. ang ginawa namin, naglagay lang kami ng isang lugar na may karton at dyaryo sa loob ng bahay namin. akala namin noong una, very good na, may mga hit and miss pa rin

Last na, sadya ba silang hyper active? ang likot likot at ang harot harot at very clingy! siguro ay sobrang playful lang. pasensya na mga sis ha. first time ko kasi kaya lahat sa akin ay bago,

1.  Usually, gawa ng mga breeders, sila na lang nagbabakuna para makatipid. Vets most likely will not honor that kasi di sila sure kung sinunod ng breeder yung proper protocols in handling the vaccines. Vaccines need to be kept in certain temp to make sure viable pa when injected. Otherwise, baka nag-inject lang sila ng di na effective na vaccine sa puppy, thus giving you false sense of security tapos bigla magkakasakit yung dog.

There is a risk nga na ma-overvaccinate yung dog - which we think happened to ours kaya sya may tama sya liver na we have been treating for 2+ years. But that is not always the case. Some dogs are fine with it, too. It's up to you to weigh the risks.

2. Puppies have small stomachs so ideally, they should be eating maybe 4x a day small meals. If you think Cass' appetite is not normal for her age, maybe get her to drink more water?  Eventually as they mature, they can go 2x a day feeding na lang like ours.

3. Cass is still a puppy so talagang magkakaron pa den ng accidents and it's up to you to correct it. If you invest time in training her at this stage, it will be less of a problem when she gets older. We started with our dog at 4 mos den sa bedroom pa namin mismo. Same with you, karton & dyaryo. One tip I can share is nag-iiwan kami sa karton ng pee smell using kahit small piece of newspaper dipped in pee. Just be consistent in taking her to potty after meals and after she wakes up and 2hrs in between because she has a small bladder so she would have to go more frequently. This is the perfect time to associate the pee / poo command.

If naabutan mo sya during/after the act of peeing sa place na di dapat, wag mo na sya pagalitan kasi nangyari na. Just be more vigilant na lang para start pa lang nya gawin, pick her up and bring her to the right place and praise her.

If Cass is not the type to eat her poo, you're lucky. Hahaha. Shih tzu are notorious poo eater. We had to train ours not to do that.

4. Some pups are hyper talaga. Our dog, after meals lang sya hyper nung puppy. Now, after bath na lang sya parang praning. Pero there was a time na makulit sya, gusto mangagat. Nagngatngat den sya ng mga paa ng furniture. I bought him toys and try to play with him para mapagod sya. Pag ako kinakagat nya ako, I give him the toy para yun kagatin nya instead of me.  Try to make Cass like balls para hagis ka na lang ng hagis. Pag makulit na nakakasakit na, I ignore him. I show him na tatalikuran ko sya talaga and not look at him until he calms down bago ko sya pansinin ulet. No playtime until he stops that behavior. You can also teach him some commands para manahimik sya. You can take advantage yung pagiging matakaw nya by using dogfood as rewards. Teach him to sit, etc tapos reward nya yung df.

That was very helpful @minabey. i appreciate that. Medyo guilty nga ako kasi pag kakadating ko galing sa trabaho, nagli-lick sya ng paa ko. nasusungitan ko. I am pregnant din kasi with my third baby. Nakabili na kami ng aso tapos nabuntis ako. hahaha

I will try to feed her 4x a day ng small meals. Kapag kasi kumakain kami sa mesa, nanghahablot ng table food namin. pero unti-unti, tini-train namin. Medyo isip-bata pa talaga kasi puppy pa nga sya.

I agree with the praning moments. napapansin ko yun kapag nasa crate niya, tapos ilalabas namin. magtatatakbo ng mabilis na halos mabundol o mabunggo at ang kulit-kulit! nasanay rin siguro sa two kids ko kapag harutan time, harutan time talaga. There were times, na yung eldest ko na babae, hihiga tapos pinapangatngat ang buhok niya at tatawa ng tatawa. ganoon din ang boy ko. grabe kasi sila kalilikot kaya nahawa na rin siguro si Cass.

may mga na-meet na rin ako kapag nagpapa-groom kami at meron silang nirerecommend na vet na hindi pera lang habol. kaya i-try namin na puntahan ni hubby kapag ma-free ang schedule namin.

My Max is turning 7 na this year.  Time flies so fast, naalala ko kinuwento ko pa dito mga first few months niya. 

Very picky eater si Max, tapos nasanay kasi sa treats.  Problem pa with her, everytime tapos na period niya, nagsasawa sa pagkain niya.  Her vet last time gave her RC na hypoallergenic then the last time naman yong RC na Anallergenic.  Inubos ko lang mga 1 pack then I switch her to normal grain free food ulit.

So ngayon, doing research tuloy what dry dog food to feed her esp. she has allergy. Niluluwa na niya yong food niya ngayon, meaning sawa na siya, hehe.

^naku sawa na nga sya sa food niya. Yung 2 ko ngang alaga in 2 months time nagsasawa na. Ang hiral pa naman humanap ng dog food na maayos tapos very picky eater pa sila. Hayyyy
