It works for us. more than 4, about 5 years in.
it really sucks, but we're pretty good. we've adjusted to it fine.
we always call each other and message through out the day. if one needs the other, we're cool with waking each other up.
we are so updated and involved with each other's lives: i know his friends' dramas , his mom's doctors appointments, down to his nephew's new toy. he knows all of mine too. the other day, i jokingly told him i'm at another guy's house, and he's just like -- uhhuh. when did you even have time to even meet another guy?
we still watch movies and tv shows together. he often jokes that we'd never break up because we always need the other when watching 'our shows'. we like to watch and talk shit about them together, and would never, NEVER watch without the other because they're just boring without our commentary.
i remember when we started this, i was so unhappy and angry. i mostly blamed him for not staying here, and it took a while to sync our times and find a routine that works.
we've broken up lots of times, but always got back together. worst breakup we've had was about 3 years ago, for about a year -- but we were each other's bestfriend, so we still talked everyday. he eventually flew in to convince me to give it another shot. he flies in every couple of months, and is coming back this August.
honestly, seeing some relationships around me, i'd say he's leagues a better boyfriend even from far away than some of the ones i know here with their boyfriends physically with them.
i mean, seriously, just yesterday, he went on a hunt for the limited edition shoes i've been dying to buy. called shoe stores around his area, went to 2 malls during his work break, went all the way to his bank, to complain when websites won't take his card to order my shoes. i mean... come. the fuck. on. THAT, is a boyfriend.
