meron na ba dito nagswitch from acana to go! natural?

balak ko sana bilihan ng chicken liver yung shih tzu pup ko... tuwing kelan ako pwede magpakain ng chicken liver? pwede ba every other day? bibigay ko sana as treats. hindi ko ihahalo sa dog food baka kasi maging picky eater.   gano ka dami ang pwede ibigay/day & ano luto pwede? pakuluan lang ba?

abuanddiego~ grabe sis nakakabilib ka. ang sipag mo magluto for your dogs. ako i will try to give my chow liver and rice later. kasi panay ang scratch and bite nya sa legs niya. dont know if allergy or what. mejo nalalagas fur sa spot na he always bite. he had ticks din kasi a few days ago. gulat ako biglang dami. used frontline drops on him kaso meron pa din. feeling ko one reason yun. plus yung madalas siyang wet. we're trying to keep him dry all the time. yung ticks naman meron pa din pakonti-konti so im planning to use frontline spray naman in a week. pre-emptive solution ko na din yung try i-change yung food niya kasi baka allergic na sa holistic. ano ba magandang kibble na ipalit? yung table food i will try lang pag weekend. pag kasi i let my cousin do it baka lagyan ng kung anik anik like salt, vetsin, etc. dadahilanan na naman ako na para magkalasa.

okay din ba yung cesar canned food? gusto ko din siya bigyan pero super minsan lang. mahirap at baka masanay.

^^me! pero more of kapalitan ng go natural yung acana. when my dog's younger, acana binibigay ko. may point na ayaw niya ng acana and medyo nagka allergy so we decided na magpalit ng food kasi baka yun ang dahilan. dun ako nagpalit ng go natural salmon.

@rinapie walang bang problem sa pagswitch from acana to go natural? hindi inayawan? gusto ko kasi pasubukan sa puppy ko. kaya lang puro malalaking bags yung nakikita ko na go natural sa pet express. meron din ba trial pack ang go natural? gusto ko subukan kung kakainin niya. =)

^mas gusto ng aso ko yung salmon na go natural. nagpapalit lang ako kapag medyo walang go nat or mukhang nagsasawa siya. try mo kaya sa bow and wow nga ba yun? baka may mas maliit na bag.

depende sis sa pork na binibili ko, may times na maoily sya hehe pero di ko naman binibigay yung stock kasi ang hirap linisin ng mukha nila after. si diego yung mahilig sa sabaw pero minsan ko lang sya binibigyan. Choose lean cuts na lang para wala gano fats. Yes sis squash=pumpkin, try yellow sweet potato din paminsan, eto yung sinuggest ng isang holistic vet from US.

yung chicken isang rinse lang ginagawa ko just to remove the excess blood, messy kasi eh. I think yung "dumi factor" is for our safety, to prevent salmonella chuva chuva, pero pag sa dogs lalo pag nakaraw hindi gano impt. to basta wash your hands thoroughly after preparation. When choosing meat especially chicken check the label, kasi baka enhanced sya it's bad for our dogs, eto minsan yung cause ng allergy and not the meat itself. according to Raw Feeding Group "70-85 mgs per 3-4 oz serving is not enhanced – anything less than 100 mg per serving should be ok."

re liver, kurot-kurot lang sis masyado kasing rich to in vitamin a. pwede naman daily pero onti lang. boil mo lang okay na yun

kumachan, thank you sis. mahilig kasi talaga ko magluto kaya naeenjoy ko pagprepare ng food nila  baka meron flea-allergy dermatitis dog mo, yung iba kasi allergic sa saliva ng fleas, ito yung cause ng redness, itching. wait ka for a month bago magtake effect ang frontline. effective naman sya pero di automatic results. use it for 3-4mos. pero pag wala na stop muna, harsh kasi yan eh and it goes in ther bloodstream, sinabi na rin sakin ng assistant ng vet. hindi sya advisable kung wala namang
infestation.

Yung mga okay na dogfood for me is Acana, Orijen, Go Natural, Canidae and Solid Gold (dito sa 2 medyo duda na ako kasi nagkarecall yung manufacturer). Basta check nyo yung ingredients lagi, kahit pa sikat and vet recommended, pero pag may by-products, corn, soy, wheat, bht, salt, sugar, coloring, wag nyo na pansinin, you're just wasting money on these garbage, unhealthy kasi ang mga to for dogs. Bili na lang kayo ng totoong meat para sulit

^ sis abu, si Max ngayon feel niya yong salmon na blackwood (for sensitive skin and stomach).  maliit kasi super yong kibbles.  mahilig na rin siya sa salmon and tilapia   minsan nga tinik na naiiwan sa akin. ang binibigay ko naman sa kanya is the soft flesh less the skin.  hilig din niya yong roast/grilled beef (less the flavors). 

i wanted to give her those acana and orijen pero malalaki yong kibbles ata e.  ewan bat ayaw niya ngayon ng malalaking kibbles.  umaarte na naman ang prinsesa.

Sabi ni vet sken Vitality dry food.

Lahat natry ko na ata so far vitality yung hiyang nila, medyo gumanda din yung furr. Dati nag try ako alpo pero parang bumaho yung pupu nila (sorry hehe)

^^ same with my bruno ayaw niya malalaki ang kibbles ang arte din.. kaya i usually do i althernate his food sched, every other day if today home cooked with rice then bukas dog food na.. minsan i gave him cookies like marie hehe..

Btw i found out na di maganda ang pedigree and alpo.. one of the best dog food daw is bow wow na brand.. pero pinaka fav talaga  nila is chiken liver.. they go crazy pag naaamoy na nila yung niluluto na liver hehe.

If magswitch ba ako ng from Acana Puppy to Acana Pacifica kelangan dahan dahan padin?

Ang galing! =) Medyo matagal nga makita yung difference ng pagswitch ng dog foods. Parang after a month saka biglang gumanda yung katawan ni Khaleesi pati yung fur niya improving. Mas kumakapal at nagiging shiny. =)

pwede bang pakainin ng homecooked food tulad ng liver/chicken kahit na may mga fleas ang dog?
if ngayon pa lang magtry magpagkain ng homecooked, dapat bang imix muna yun sa dog food? unti unti hanggang sa homecooked yung isang meal niya?

yung mga tzus ko rin gusto nila smaller kibbles, baka mas madali sila kumain pag ganito kaya ganun.

missreese, all dogs would benefit from eating a homemade diet, in fact much better ito than commercial dogfood. dahil real food kinakain nila, it will boost their immune system so makakaiwas sa sakit and it will prolong their lives. parasites are allergic to healthy dogs, they are attracted to unhealthy pets. so pag healthy ang dog hindi sila lapitin ng fleas

yup you can mix muna sa dogfood nya until masanay or pwede shift agad. it really depends on the owner, yung iba kasi sanay sa dogfood at hindi familiar sa homemade meals marami silang questions kaya mahirap isuggest na biglain. take your time, search ka for recipes and do's and dont's of homemade meals para magamay mo yung diet nya

gelav, nothing beats fresh treats. tagal ko na rin hindi bumibili ng treats sa petshops, i find them gross pag nababasa ko ingredients. usually made from wheat and flour lang yan, yung iba may coloring pa. i don't want my kids to eat that, it's very unhealthy for them. ang treats nila is yung meat na din from their food, minsan cartilage from our ulam hehe. i don't give anything from the store, lahat ng kinakain nila ako gumagawa.

re fruits and veggies, dog have a hard time processing plant matters, they have a carnivorous digestive system kasi. so mapapansin nyo pag fruits and veggies pag labas ganun pa rin hehe. pag nagbigay ng fruits and veggies dapat finely chopped or mashed for easier digestion.

pag nagswitch ka to a diff variant dapat gradual pa rin kasi iba na yung ingredients nya, possible na lumambot ang stool nya.

yup it takes time bago makita yung results, hindi sya agad-agad. sometimes it takes 2 or more months, basta kung wala naman grabeng reaction like allergy, itching, change in stool tuloy lang.

littlekinselle, bow wow eto ba yung nabibili sa grocery/hardware? the best thing to do para malaman kung okay ang isang brand is to read the back label. kilitisin nyo yung ingredients and analysis. dapat human-grade sya as in pwede ng food ng tao. pag may nakita kayong corn, soy, wheat, by-products, salt, sugar, preservatives, coloring and vague ingredients, bitawan nyo na these are very inappropriate and unhealthy for our dogs, ito yung mga magpapaikli ng buhay nila. doesn't matter kung sinuggest ng kakilala nyo or ng vet or mura sya, pag low-quality ingredients ginamit kalimutan nyo na and look for a better brand. make it a habit to read labels, it will save you alot of money and heartaches in the future

^yup sis halos everyday. i love cooking kasi kaya naeenjoy ko paggawa ng food nila

yup pwede kahit anong age, basta pwede na sa solid food pwede na sa raw. dogs are carnivores, they share almost 98% of their DNA with wolves kaya raw diet yung appropriate diet for them. imagine nyo yung mga wolves ano kinakain nila sa wild, ganun din ang dapat sa dogs. yung buto ng chicken and pork and other prey/similar animals safe yan basta raw, malambot pa so kayang kaya nila idigest, except sa mga weight bearing bones like hooves, knuckles pwedeng makabungi. pag luto yun ang delikado kasi nagiging brittle na, pwedeng magkaron ng internal laceration.

^i tried to give my dog a raw chicken meat kaso ayaw kainin then ni half cooked ko boil lang.. ayaw pa din.. ang gusto hinihimay pa yun meat and dapat luto. Btw thank sis

^welcome sis. some dogs are clueless lang talaga pagdating sa real food, lalo na yung mga nasanay sa dogfood. kailangan lang ng tease or tough love para pansinin nila. be patient lang and don't worry much, di naman sila mamamatay by skipping a meal or two, healthy dogs won't starve themselves kakain din yan pag nagutom

yung chow ko lagi na nakaabang pag kumakain kami pero hindi naman namin binibigyan. kahapon i fed him rice with cesar na for puppy. simot-sarap. kanina naman i added boiled squash and hinimay na chicken sa kibbles nya. simot na naman. for lunch ko muna binibigay pag weekend kasi hindi pa namin kaya mag-prepare ng homecooked meal for him on a daily basis. ok na din na hindi pa masanay. next week i will try potato naman.

^yup don't tolerate beggars. lalo yung jumping dogs, i hate them! pag ginaganito ko ng mga anak ko, yung bulldog ko ang bully eh, tatakbo tapos babanggain ako pag gutom. pwes, i bump him too using my leg! i let him maoff balance hanggang sa marealize na mali ginagawa nya. create your space, they should know their limits. dapat well-mannered mga dogs natin para hindi sakit sa ulo lalo na pag nasa labas at di nakakahiyang ihalubilo sa iba.

my first shih tzu yung behaved, nakasit lang sya at nakafocus sakin and will wait until ilapag ko ang bowl or water feeder. hindi sya yung PG type haha!

you can teach him to sit or wait before giving a treat. kahit bago iserve ang food, tell him to sit before giving his food bowl. you can make big batches naman of the boiled meat and veggies, buy ka ng 1-2kilos, boil then store in the fridge. reheat na lang before serving

Eto alaga ko nawiwili sa cesar dog food (yung canned na mala-spam). Ayaw kainin home-cooked foods na dating ok naman sa kanya. Kelangan ngayon may konting halo ng cesar. Gusto nya kasi smell nun eh.

Yung yogurt nakaka increase appetite. Lumakas kasi kain nya since nag yogurt sya a few months ago.

Sis, i buy magnolia chicken for my dogs. Siguro naman di yun enhanced?



Btw, to those who feed kibbles and live near katipunan/white plains, try Tin's pet place. We now buy our canidae here. Much much cheaper than bow and wow. P550 lang vs about 800 (forgot na the exact price).
