Haha

^walang anuman sis ;)

A for effort talaga ang homemade meals lalo na pag busy sa work. pero pag nakikita at naririnig ko ang mga comments kung gano sila kalulusog, at hindi sila ganun kabaho pati na ang poop hehe sulit naman lahat :)

Update on my picky eater. She's getting more.. well, picky. She used to love bananas and peanut butter, and now she'll spit them out. My mom's really frustrating with her biscuits, hindi masabihan. For her meals, we mix boiled meat+veggies+rice+2 spoonfuls of ground kibble. I just hope it's enough for her nutrition.

^my shih tzu used to like veggies pero nung tumagal niluluwa na rin, unless nakamix sa meal nya. pag fruits and veggies, either mashed or finely chopped it na lang para walang kawala. okay naman yung diet nya, healthy meal na yan basta may natural food like meat and veggies. Parang sa diet din natin, variation is the key to make it a balanced meal. Pwede ka din gumamit ng diff. kinds of meat and organs. and you can always give supplements pag feeling mo kulang ;) yung mga junakis ko i give them Papi or Raffavit sometimes vit. c and human multivitamins just to be sure.

Pinapaubos ko lang yung LC Vit then I'll get her Papi na. She gets Ceelin din twice or thrice a week. I'll take note of the organs but ano ba ang mabilis bilhin aside from liver? @abuanddiego , what's your food budget for your dogs in a month?

^Natry din namin before yung LC Vit, sa bulldog and shih tzu ko pero di ko nagustuhan results. Yung bulldog nagkaallergy, yung shih more than a month na pero walang effect. Sa Papi and Raffavit talaga sila lumakas kumain. I highly recommend Raffavit kasi organic sya, made from fruits and veggies lang.

Pag magtry ka ng new meat small amounts lang muna, avoid mo yung fats and skin. Much better kung free-range yung maibigay, or yung steriods and hormone-free.

Re food budget, I have 3 dogs, a bulldog and 2 shih tzus. Nung nakadogfood kami kasya sa 1month yung big bag plus 1 small bag, i think nasa 2500-3k yun. Pero pag raw or homecooked mas mahal since totoong food na ito. My bulldog eats around half kilo of meat, tapos yung tzu 250-300g per day. Pero nakakatipid ako minsan pag may sale sa meats like b1t1 in chicken. Tapos pag homecooked I also buy eggs, rice, minsan oatmeal or pasta then veggies like kalabasa, carrots, sayote, leafy greens. I think nasa 3-4k pag homemade ang food nila.

Last time pala, I made some pasta for them :)

^shocks ang mahal. I have a 3.5kg Maltese so I won't need as much but home cooking all the way will cost me more compared if may kibble pa rin. It's not the only expense kasi if you have a dog.

^medyo mahal talaga pag homemade meals, you pay for quality kasi. di ko na nga lang iniisip yung gastos kasi the more you compute mas lalo kang tatamarin magprepare haha! pero worth it naman kasi healthy sila at iwas vet bills. And I assure you that people will notice it, oftentimes you will be asked ano daw food nila kasi they look so healthy. You won't need expensive shampoos or supplements pag natural ang diet nila, gaganda ang dog mo without too much effort.

Holistic vets have said na healthier ang dogs who are given home made meals than dogfood. Iwas heartaches din ito sa atin in the future :)

I might have to go the homecooked route if my dog won't budge on the kibble. How long does your cooked dog food keep? Every how many days do you cook? I'm also having difficulties with the proportions kasi iba iba ang computations sa net. I have a 3.5kg maltese who's free to roam the apartment.

Usually good for 2-3 days lang ginagawa ko in order to keep it fresh. Ayoko din kasi ifreeze, it would result to freezer burn, feeling ko wala ng sustanya yung food pag ganun. katamad din magthaw minsan kaya halos daily ako magluto. Anyway boiling lang naman kailangan tsaka pagprepare ng veggies, super dali na since mahilig din ako magluto so naeenjoy ko talaga pagprepare ng food nila.

Same weight sila ng latest shih tzu ko, he eats around 1cup per day. Start ka sa 1 cup then check his weight after a month, pag super bilis tumaba bawasan mo ng onti. You can do it sis, small lang yung dog mo onti lang kumain yan, i think kasya na yung 1-1.5kilo of meat in a week ;)

Up for this thread.
Galing ni sis Abu. Thank you sa maraming inputs at pictures.
I will have a mix German Shepperd and Labrador soon. Next month ko na kunin kaya search and search talaga ako about feeding.

yup iba pa rin yung homemade meals than premium dogfood, just look at the kibbles, yun ba ang natural food na tinatawag? ::)

about your coming soon puppy hehe, there's no need to fast pag puppies pa lang. pakainin mo siya hanggat gusto hehe. basta use a single soure of protein, carb, veggie muna. tapos after a week or two pag okay naman ang poop try to add another meat pero onti lang. basta gradual ang transition para di mabigla at madali malaman pag nagkallergy.

Usually ground pork ginagawa ko tapos mix with eggs, parsley, squash, sweet potato. Nabasa ko maganda daw ang parsley and coriander sa kanila, it helps in flushing out the toxins. herbs like basil, sage, thyme maganda din daw.
eto yung pics pag groundmeat:

if you noticed laging may squash hehe kasi it helps in firming up their stools. medyo loose kasi ang poop pag homemade diet, pero kahit may squash don't expect na solid na solid, medyo hirap pa rin linisin haha!

usually ganito supply namin ng meat for about 1.5 week, yung bulldog kaya nya umubos ng whole chicken in one meal grabe sa takaw! lumakas kumain mga kolokoy ko ewan ko ba parang lagi silang gutom, manang mana sa mader lolololol!

^ sis Abu! Wow! gourmet chef ka rin pala. Hehe

No choice kami sa more rice than meat Kasi May kidney issue si pogi ko. Buti naman di sya nagkaka yeast infection. Knock on wood... But I make sure na when I cook the rice, I rinse it well until clear na yung water. I'm hoping na that somehow lessens the unwanted sugar. Haka-haka ko lang. Hehe

Di na too greasy lumalabas pag ground pork? Hehe

Madalas din silang may pumpkin sa diet. Same ba yun ng squash?

I always forget to buy unsalted butter for my dogs. Sabi nila ok naman to add flavor to their food.

Nasisira ulo nila. Mabango for them. Hehe... Ginagamit ko yan to mask the smell and taste of my dog's medicine. Successful naman ako parati, so far.

Oh, follow up question, do you wash/rinse the chicken before cooking it? Or basta direcho na sa pot and cook na agad?

I read Kasi that chicken meat should not be rinsed daw to preserve the flavor. Para di tumabang.

But I also heard na kelangan I-rinse para ma wash yung dumi.

Di ko alam tuloy anong tama.
