Parang I want to switch my bebe's food. I'm currently feeding him Vitality High Energy (for puppies, pregnant/lactating, show dogs, working dogs) kasi there are times na sobra na ang pagkahyper nya and I read na the food they eat could really affect their "mood" I walk him at least once a day varying and duration pero at least 30 minutes. minsan umaabot ng 2-3 hours with rest in between naman.
maganda ang coat nya, pati stool consistency kaya nagdadalawang isip ako sa pag-change.

Do you guys think food talaga nya ang culprit sa pagkahyper nya. I know beagles talagang makulit pero may times na OA na talaga. pagkagising ko isang umaga alam kong iba talaga sya. walang tigil at ayaw tumigil hanggang sa nasugatan na nya ako what I did was I picked him up, hugged him, talked to him na "tama na. tama na." nang maramdaman ko na kalmado na sya saka ko sya ibinaba, then back to his usual kulit na lang sya. natatakot din ako dahil baka palayasin kami sa tinitirhan namin kapag naging sobrang hyper sya lalo na sa labas. 
I want him to be energetic pero hindi hyper.

^yan ba laman nang vitality? mas okay nga yata na mag switch ka, kahit hindi yan ang cause nang pagka-hyper. usually kasi yang grains/corn ang cause nang allergy. wag mo na siguro hintayin na magkaproblema.

anyway,siguro possible na food ang dahilan pero ilang years or puppy pa ba yung beagle mo? kasi kapag puppy pa yan, playful talaga and may dogs na matagal mag-mature ang ugali na kahit lampas one year na e sobrang kulit pa din.

siguro din, kapag sobrang hyper, instead na i-pet ay pagalitan or hindi pansinin or isolate or kung ano mang eepektong pandisiplina sa kanya. kapag nilambing kasi na nagustuhan niya, parang reinforce mo lang yung ganung behavior, na kapag gusto niya nang hug or lambing or pet e magwawala siya kasi sa isip niya for sure, kapag nagwala siya e gagawin mo sa kanya yun.

yes sis, yan laman ng vitality. 2 months nang iyang ang food nya tapos i-mix it lang with other meat (chicken, beef) and soup if available. shiny coat, firm and not so mabaho ang stool nya.
puppy pa lang sya sis (almost 4 months), I understand that puppies are naturally playful/makulit by nature kaso that morning alam ko may iba talaga e. and that was the only time that i held him na makulit sya, usually I ignore him, pinapagalitan ko sya or iniiwan ko sya kapag makulit sya kasi nga alam ko inunurture ng actions ko ang kahyperan nya kapag pinet ko sya or show him na i'm happy na ganun sya.

Gusto ko sana ang ipapalit ko kahit papano ay afforable and easily available. If ever kasi na matuloy ang pag-alis ko, maiiwan sya sa probinsya. magrereklamo pa ang nanay ko kapag sinabi ko na ganito ang brand na dapat ipakain nya kay radley tapos kailangan pa nyang lumuwas para lang makabili eh naku hindi palaluwas yun at mareklamo tapos malalaman pa nya na mahal. ang binibili nga nyang dog food para sa mga aso namin ni hindi nya inaalam ang brand. di ko naman masisi kasi nga sanay kami na people food ang ipinapakain sa aso. hhhmmm makapag-window shopping mamaya sa Pet Express para makatingin sa mga dog food.

sis abuanddiego, nutri plus ang gamit nyang vitamins, kaso parang walang effect sa appetite niya.. ok naman poop niya, firm na madaling damputin, pero hindi as in matigas talaga.. ok din naman skin niya.. 1 year na din siya sa zenith.. pero yung weight niya maintain lang talaga sa 2 kilos.. nag-try ako pakainin siya kanina ng boiled chicken kasi nabasa ko dito sa thread na ok pala ang meat, naubos niya agad kaso pinili lang yung meat, naiwan yung zenith, hehe.. hindi ko lang sure if enough yung portion na binigay ko kulang, nag alanganin din ako bigyan ng madami baka kasi mangati sya sa chicken..ok ba ang milk para sa kanila?? kasi yung mga shih tzu ng sister ko lakas kumain, kahit ano ibigay kinakain.. hindi tulad ni elmo, kahit sa treats mapili pa din..
punta na din kami sa vet next week for blood check up.. sana ok naman siya..

^^4 months pa lang, sobrang bata pa. in my opinion, normal ang pagka playful niyan, marami pang sisirain yan. baka mas hyper lang siya sa iba mong alaga, baka yan ang personality niyan. may panahon na mag lie-low sila sa pagkakulit pero after a few months, susubukan niya ulit yung pasensya mo, bago pa siya magtino nang kahit papano. 

yes, hanap kang food sa pet express...sa ngayon yan ang pinaka accessible na mabibilhan nang pagkain at may mga magagandang brand na available yan. basahin mo lang ingredients lagi.

ganun na nga sis. hanap hanap na lang. may idea naman na ako ng pwede kong bilhin because of this forum kaso syempre inaalala ko rin ang cost. baka nga mauwi ako sa home cooked since mukhang mas affordable ito. mas effort nga lang pero sa preparation ko sa pagpapakain sa puppy ko parang ganon din naman since ipinagluluto ko rin naman sya, small portions nga lang dahil inihahalo ko lang sa dog food nya. i'll still do some reading about home cooked dog food.

natry ko palang bumili ng frozen dog food sa super market, itinapon ko lang. parang kadiri kasi eh. I don't think I'd want to feed that to my dog.

littlemisschievous, our original vit. is raffavit, we used this for around 2 years, super effective kay Abu, lagi syang magana kumain. but i wanted to try a diff. brand kasi naisip ko baka maiimune sa raffavit, mawalan ng effect hehe. vet suggested papi at pansin ko mas naging magana sya at bilis maubos ng food. both are effective naman, depende na lang on your preference, raffavit kasi is all natural while papi has synthetic ingredients.

angelven, true yung effect ng food sa energy levels, pag processed, mas hyper sila pero pag homecooked or raw, mas kalmado sila. pero kahit hindi yung vitality high energy ang cause ng hyperactivity nya, mas mabuti pa rin to switch to a better brand kasi di appropriate sa dogs (carnivores) yung ingredients nya. backread ka lang ng onti, nasa links ang explanation. yung frozen dogfood sa groceries, tingin ko chopped chicken heads lang. buy na lang ng whole chicken para sulit.

kung wala na talagang choice, at sa mother mo sya maiwan, mas mabuti kung maghomecooked na lang. boiling of meat, rice and veggies lang naman kailangan, i think mas madali yan sa mother mo than going to petshops.

summer, kung wala kang nakikitang effect, switch ka na. ganyan kami dati sa lc-vit, 2.5mos ng gamit pero walang nangyare. pero sa raffavit and papi ilang days lang biglang lakas ng appetite.

omg, ang liit nya siguro kung 2kilos lang sya? nakakapa mo ba ang bones nya? pag kapang-kapa it means payat nga sya. dogs are carnivores kaya need talaga nila ang animal protein, kumbaga ito ang fuel ng body nila. at first, onti muna bigay mo para di maupset ang tummy, kasi pag binigla pwedeng lumambot ang poop. re milk, most dogs are lactose intolerant, pag lumambot ang stool after magbigay ng dairy products, it means di nila kaya. so pag ganyan, you can skip the milk.

iba-iba talaga ang appetite ng mga dogs, yung mga shih tzu ng bro ko, super lakas kumain pero yung sakin vitamins lang nagpagana sa kanya. mapili din sya sa mga food, inaamoy nya muna bago isubo, fruits and veggies di sya mahilig, sa meat lang talaga.

^ oo, ang liit nya talaga.. nakakapa ko yung mga bones nya pero may muscle pa naman kahit konti.. saka may nabasa ako na pag yung skin is matagal bumalik sa place pag pininch, malnourished daw yun, pero hindi pa naman ganun.. kaso hindi talaga siya nag-gegain ng weight.. try ko mag home made dog food.. meron ako nakitang recipe at kung papano pakainin at start yung food.. dami ko natutunan dito sa site na to.. http://homemadedogfood.com/

thanks sa link, i think nakita ko sa youtube yung recipe nya, barf yung gamit nya (combination of meat, fruits, veggies) Aside from homecooked, I also do raw feeding, pero ibang technique gamit ko--frankey prey model, meat, bones and organs lang, hindi ko hinahaluan ng rice kasi iba daw digestion period ng grains sa meat. Iba-iba ang claims nila when it comes to feeding, do alot of research nalang para makapili ka ng right food for your dog.
pag madali mo makapa ang ribs, yung parang walang laman, bones agad mahahawakan, underweight nga sya. malnourished and dehydrated nga pag matagal bumalik ang skin. sana mahiyang sya sa homecooked at sa vitamins, update mo lang kami.

sa mga nagfefeed ng homecooked meals, talaga bang maglelessen yung poop?? kasi 2 days na ko nagfeed ng homecooked food, pansin ko as in ang konti ng poop nya, halos 1/3 lang ng poop niya nung kibble ang kinakain niya.. so far, ok naman siya sa food na niluluto ko for him, sana lang hindi magsawa.. nagtry ako ng chicken breast with egg, and ground pork with egg, bukas try ko ground beef.. hehe.. gusto ko sana itry ihalo yung egg shell for calcium daw kasi yun kaso natakot ako baka masugat intestine or stomach niya, wala kasi akong blender para madurog ng husto yung shells.. may nakapag try na ba magpakain ng egg with shells??

^pag barf kasi it has fruits and veggies, considered barf na itong recipes nya kasi may rice. pag pure raw naman, kahit rice wala, meat, bones, fats, skin and organs lang talaga.

pag real food ang kinakain nila, nalelessen talaga ang volume ng poop. So aside sa sure tayo sa quality, alam nating napupunta talaga sa katawan nila ang nutrients. unlike pag dogfood, ang dami at ang dalas ng poop diba? Minsan nga sa homecooked/raw, every other day ang pagpoop nila. Marami kasing grains ang commercial dogfood kahit pa sabihing premium or grain-free, starches and grains kasi ang nagbibind sa kibble.

Pag nagpalit ka pala ng meat, do it gradually para di sya mabigla at makaiwas kayo sa allergy. Give it a week or two bago ka magadd ng new meat. Yung eggshells, nagaadd ako nyan. Ang gamit ko nga lang noon is mortar and pestle haha! Minsan in powder form, minsan crushed lang. Wala naman akong nakitang problem. Yung ibang dogs, kahit 1 whole egg kaya nilang kainin.

^ ah kala ko something to worry about na yung pagkonti ng poop..
eh kung 1 week chicken, tas the next week, beef naman?? ok lang ba yun?? iniiba iba ko kasi isip ko baka manawa siya agad pag paulit ulit?? nagbibigay ka din ba ng rice?? o pure meat lang talaga? ok lang ba isama sa food yung chicken skin? parang natakot ako magpakain ng bones kasi sabi ng vet at ng ibang kilala kong may dog, masama daw.

^yung manner ng pagpoop and texture yung observe mo lagi. naiiba kasi yan depende sa food, pero once mamaster lol mo na yung itsura per food, madali na malaman kung may mali

okay naman yung weekly switch, pero gradual pa rin pagadd mo ng new meat kasi pwedeng lumambot ang stool once magadd ka ng new food. basta paonti-onti lang bigay mo wag yung biglaan. pero may dogs naman na matibay ang sikmura lol, yun nga lang trial ang error pa rin yan.

depende yan sa dog, may madali magsawa merong kahit ano kakainin. ako mga 1month bago magpalit kasi di rin ganun kabilis makita yung effect sa kanila, minsan inaabot pa ng ilang months bago mo masabing hiyang. take your time para maging familiar ka sa reaction ng dog mo sa bawat food na sineserve mo.

pag homecooked, rice, meat and veggies gamit ko. pag dogfood, meat inaadd ko and minsan veggies. tapos pag raw, meat lang talaga. ang skin, fats and bones, safe yan ibigay pag raw, pero pag cooked di na magandang ibigay kasi dami ng changes na nangyayare, yung fats can cause pancreatitis tapos yung bones internal injuries naman. kaya di na sila advisable ibigay pag luto na. marami akong links na napost before, baka makita mo if magbackread ka.

Hi sis abu! I'm thinking of feeding raw fish to my shih-maltese as well-she really loves fish kasi, bet na bet niya lalo pag malangsa. Anong fish kaya ang ok ipakain? How do you feed yung maliliit na fish na pinost mo, do you still remove the tinik? Thanks!

Hi sis abuanddiego.. I have seen that you included kalabasa sa meal nila.. I remember, chicken meat and kalabasa lang ang diet ng mga alaga ko especially kapag nagloose stool or nagka-diarrhea sila. Yun lang ang nakakapagpaganda ng stool nila.

enilec, nakaraw din kayo? when it comes to fish, piliin mo yung rich in omega like sardines (tamban, salinas, i think galunggong is cousin ng sardines so pwede rin yan), mackerel, salmon, tuna. Ask mo lang yung fish vendor anong family ng sardines, kahit ano dun pwede. I highly suggest sardines kasi mura lang sya, around 70-100/kilo at di mataas sa mercury unlike with salmon and tuna. You can also give yung in canned kaso mataas sa sodium so minsan lang, mas ok pa rin kung fresh yung ibibigay.

Sa bulldog ko kinakain nya buong fish, even the head and tinik, inaalis ko lang yung fins and tail. Pero yung shih tzu body lang gusto nya pag raw. Pag cooked naman, meat lang binibigay ko. Weird mga to, like na like nila ang real fish pero pag dogfood in fish variant, galit galit na haha! If you will add raw fish to her diet, kurot-kurot lang muna dahil malakas sya magpaloose ng stools It's hard to control pa naman pag nakita mong gustong gusto nya, di aalis sa tabi mo yan.

jhenpretty, hi sis, super ok ang squash for diarrhea and constipation ano, biglang nagkakashape haha! first aid ko yan pag lumalambot poop ng shih tzu, sya yung suki ng kalabasa. I just buy a slice, good na yun for 4-5 days. Pag matamlay, sinusubuan ko with bits of meat la ng kibble. Pero pag normal days I just add meat sa kibbles, para alam ko yung texture ng poop per diet.

Natura Pet Issues Voluntary Recall of Specialized Dry Pet Foods Due to Possible Health Risk

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - June 18, 2013 - Natura Pet Products is voluntarily recalling specific lots of dry pet food because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Salmonella can affect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.

Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.

Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.

These products were packaged in a single production facility. During routine FDA testing, a single lot tested positive for the presence of Salmonella. There have been no reports of pet or human illness associated with this product. In an abundance of caution, Natura is voluntarily recalling all products with expiration dates prior to June 10, 2014.

The affected products are sold in bags through veterinary clinics, select pet specialty retailers, and online in the United States and Canada. No canned wet food is affected by this announcement.
