Amazon is a bad influence. Hehe. One of the reasons why i always buy stuff for my nephew. Cheaper kasi sya than suggested retail price. Motto ko kasi is not to pay full price as much as possible.  Add mo pa seasonal sales in the US.... And compare ko pa with local prices. Talaga naman mapapa hoard ako.

Ussually kapag expensive toys, Ninangs and Mamu niya bumubili. =) Pero yung mga balls, mini cars, bubbles,etc we make sure na nabibilhan namin siya nun at least once a week. Parang treat na namin kapag pumupunta kami sa malls during weekends.

One thing my husband and I agreed on-any toy is okay,irregardless of the cost,shipping etc. She's only 19 months pero meron na siyang wooden baby grand piano in pink,Step 2 kitchen,at kung may room lang kami for a toy house,bibilhan din namin. We want her to enjoy...I think yun naman main point nang toys, para ma-enjoy, irregardless of everything else. we buy her books din, and she loves being read to.I buy the classic ones-The  Very Hungry Caterpillar is a favorite, and as soon as she will be ready for it, Dr. Seuss.I don't wait for sales or occasions to get toys. I don't think that's spoiling either. Play is a child's work and while they're kids, dapat talaga papaglaruin.

i love those books, too. Sa toys, medyo may control ako. Sa wooden puzzles, wala. hehe. Nakita ko kasi talgang hilig nya. Tinatago ko lang sandali ang ibang toys, pag nilabas ko ulit after sometime, gusto na ulit nya.

^same tayo jai, haha! tinatago ko din for a while yung toys na medyo hindi na niya napapansin tapos pag binigay ko rin after sometime feel na niya ulit laruin.
 
pag dating sa toys hirap akong magpigil especially sa little princess ko, ang dami kasing magagandang toys for the girls compare sa mga boys and yung boys ko more on gadgets na mas mahal na ang hinihingi!. honestly, hindi naman ako madalas bumili ng toys pero once na bumili ako nag hohoard talaga ko!. yung mga activity books niya ang madalas kong bilhin every payday dapat meron siyang bagong books especially ngayon hilig niya ang mag trace ng mag trace ng letters. sa tingin ko naman hindi ko pa naman sila naspospoil when it comes to giving them toys, reward system pa rin especially sa 2 boys ko.

I finally boughy my son a few new toys yesterday, nothing too expensive or hi-tech. Its really more for "development".

I got him a xylophone that has a fuctionality to help him tell time. And inalso got a disney stacking toy and a multi-colored mesh ball. Again my rationale is that all these thigs will help him with his fine and gross motor skills as well as stimulate him to process things more especially since he has reached the "Categories" phase of his development.

I do not often buy toys for my kids because they receive a lot during Christmas and their birthday.  Ang dali rin nilang magsawa at hindi pa sila gaanong magaling mag-alaga ng toys nila.  These days, masaya na sila sa Happy Meal toys.

It's another matter with books though.  I sometimes (err, often pala) go crazy buying books for them.  We go to the bookstore every weekend and I've sworn to limit buying a book for them to every other bookstore visit.

^ same tayo! although for my toddler board books dapat or else hindi tatagal. I just bought 12 books for her at one go  medyo matagal-tagal din namin babasahin yun kasi limit to 2 books at bedtime and 1 before her naptime (if she feels like it lang).

I do rotate her toys din. keep some in her toy cupboard (hindi niya mabubuksan kasi it's a side table din ), some in collapsible boxes tall enough and she's not interested to open as of the moment.

^^^ sachism- yup, I want her to be introduced to all classics as well as modern stories. I just saw a toy Lightning Mcqueen na namamaneho talaga! Sana magka-interes din sa cars ito hehe, but for now papagkasyahin ko muna sa Little Tikes

^ oo nga. but my daughter still has the tendency to tear the books. for board books, she'd fold the pages. she's 2yo and 5 mos. nakakapanghinayang

Big ticket toys during Christmas and Birthdays. Also pag malapit na ang Christmas and Birthday, I do spring cleaning. I make them choose toys to give away to make space for new ones.

Also my policy now is not to buy those "mu-mu" plastic toys (included here are the happy meal toys). Aside from madaling pagsawaan, the cost adds up. Before you know it, Sobrang dami na that the cost of buying those, they can actually get a nice, long lasting toy.

^ SUPER AGREE ... it just tends to collect as clutter eh. Hindi rin kami pala-kain sa Mcdo, maybe once every month or 2 months lang. tamang ok lang laruin pag nasa stroller then pagdating sa house,wala na hindi na interesting. I'd rather bring her to a proper restaurant where a child's meal is the same as mine.

^^ correct!  hate those lift the flap books,pinupunit lang niya yung flaps or it gets folded out of shape it it doesn't get chewed on. Hindi yata talaga maiiwasan eh.What I do I have specific sets din of books-some for bedtime,some for when we're out and some for travelling. She doesn't get bored of the books and the books stay intact.

Christmas is coming up and I really want a big ticket toy for her but I don't have enough room in the house for a play house (I'm thinking of Step 2 houses) so I'm thinking of play tents like these:

^ there are pop up tents, you may want to consuder para madali itago if needed.

My daughter used to chew on her board books also but now no more. She loves lift the flap books. Sira na nga yung iba but that's ok with me kasi alam kong she "reads" them talaga.

Yes sis, and most of the time babies are more amazed of the box than the toy itself.

We used to buy toys for our sons every weekend but not anymore... coz we realized na di na nila na appreciate ang toys since they know naman na they will be getting a new one each week. Now, we have "toy day" that's during birthday, christmas and they receive academic awards/good grades sa report card

my son loves toy trucks, buses, trains, cars etc..
nakakabili ako less than Php50 and he really says "Wow! Toys!"
Natutuwa ako sa reaction niya and makes me want to buy him expensive ones. Pero siempre maiksi pa naman yung attention span niya ngayon kaya yung mga cheap but safe toys na lang muna binibili ko. Tutal enjoy din naman siya.

Ally, I agree with the 'mumu' toys. We're also very concerned with clutter kase nga dito pa kame sa house ng mama ko nakatira and most of her toys are in my mom's room kase di hamak na mas malaki room nya hehe.

This christmas, her dad and I have decided on giving her 2 toys lang. Yung isa nabili na namin and since mejo kapareho lang nung nabili namin ning birthday nya, I told her na we'll give it as a gift na lang to another kid who's one year older than her. Hinde na din nya kase pinapansin yon so dagdag kalat lang.

In my case, I buy a lot of toys for my 5 month old daughter, regardless of the price or occasion, for the following reasons:

1. I have a penchant for cute things. Even before I knew I would have a baby, I've been collecting toys like Sylvanian Families, beanie babies, and I collect select teddy bears from every country I visit (love the vintage bears from Harrods and FAO Schwartz!) Pero for the longest time nakatago lang sila so medyo tintry ko na controlin ang pagbili. So when I had my baby girl, I suddenly had a reason to indulge without guilt. Baby pa sya, pinipilit ko na yung mga toys sa kanya, everyday sa stroller I attach a stuffed animal kahit hindi pa nya nahahawakan, ginagawa kong patungan ng milk.

2. I'm very excited to see what her personality will be like, what toys she'll choose, and which ones will be her "security blanket" among those that I bought for her. So I'm giving her a lot of options. Ang policy ko, ok lang laspagin nya yung toys nya, basta maenjoy nya. Hindi ko sya pipilitin ipreserve yung toys until lumaki sya.

3. Unlike most of you, I can't expect a lot of gifts for my baby on Christmas or her birthday, medyo maliit kasi mundo namin dito sa Pinas since we came back.

does anyone of you have an ironing set (as in plantsa set) for your kids?

sa summer school kasi noon, this was one of the things my toddler liked playing with. not sure if it's worth it to buy for her. if your kids play with this, how old were they when they showed interest and how long did it last? ako kasi personally, parang ang boring naman maglaro non? pero my sister likes it for her twins.

^ sa ELC sis meron, check mo....marami silang pang pretend play.If I remember it right wooden ang benta ng ELC. may nakita din ako sa Amazon na toy "sampayan" na folding for little girls and even toy "washing machine" na front load

I bought her a toy "dyson ball" vacuum, same like what I'm using kasi kapag tinabi ko na ito talagang pupuntahan niya para kalikutin.Now she won't have to kasi meron na for her! Sabi ni hubs tsaka na daw yung pop up play tent pag medyo malaki na house namin.


^^ same tayo blairbunny wala naman kami family dito where we are and wala naman kami ma-e-expect mag-gift sa kanya kundi kami lang. People here tend to not be tight knit communities even the Pinoys, talagang kanya-kanya rin ang buhay.
