^doc let, salamat po sa pag reply. 1 wk ago, my son had his vaccination. the next day po ay nilagnat siya. then just yesterday madaling araw at ngayong araw na ito, nilagnat po si baby. is it the vaccination effect or is it because of teething? im worried kasi umakyat po sa 38.6 ang temperature niya. the pedia told us for him to take paracetamol (calpol) every 4 hours. then pinupunasan po ng bimpo na may yelo. may iba pa po bang ways para bumaba ang lagnat ni baby doc? salamat po sa sagot.

Not all who are vaccinated with PCV will get fever. Same with side effects of all meds. Not everyone will suffer from side effects. If your baby does develop reactions, it would be best to mention it to your pedia for better management next dose.
By the way, this is the vaccination thread. Same with the water question, the question regarding tongue tie is out of topic. Baka mapagalitan tayo ng moderators for not following forum rules.

Hindi kasama ang flu vaccine sa 4 in 1 ng mmr and varicella. Ang contents ng 4 in 1 na mmrv ay: Measles, mumps, rubella and varicella. Flu vaccine is given as a separate vaccine/injection.
Ok lang malate ng konti, but the longer na malate, the more at risk your child is for developing the illnesses protected by the vaccine.

Hindi advisable ang pagpunas na may kasamang ice. Mabilis bababa ang temp pero mabilis din at mataas ang temp after. Nakaka-fever spikes ang ice sponge bath or ice baths. Bawal din ang pagpunas with alcohol since this is toxic to baby's skin.
Better to wipe with tap water then dry after or give your baby a quick bath with tap water (water coming from faucet; not too hot nor too cold). Also keep your child cool. Wag babalutin ng pajama with jacket or blanket pa. Lalong tataas ang temp. Dapat sando, diaper, shorts lang.
Reiterate ko lang: hindi bawal magpaligo kapag may fever. Kahit gaano pa kataas ang lagnat at kahit anong oras pa, pwedeng pwede paliguan. Mabilis lang,  may soap or cleanser pa rin. Baths are important for good hygiene.
Fever related to the vaccine usually happens within 24 hours from the vaccine and does not recur a week after. Most likely iba ang cause ng fever niya now. Teething will not cause moderate grade fever. Low grade lang due to swelling of the gums. I suggest you have your baby checked for possible infection since maraming may flu and colds ngayon.

yes, i got your point. its not about teething after all those high fever yesterday. the pedia told me viral ang cause dahil na rin sa centralized ang ac sa bahay. she saw that my baby has no swollen gums. pero talagang mainit lang kasi marami ring may lagnat at sipon sa bahay. tama po pala ang ginawa ko doc na tap water ang pinang punas sa kanya the time na nasa hospital kami. the doctor mentioned it was really a No No na ipampunas ang water with ice sa katawan ng bata. ayun, oras per oras ang pag check ko ng temperature at pagpunas na hindi naman malamig. Thanks Lord at bumaba na ang lagnat niya hanggang sa pagtingin ko this morning, nasa 36.3 na siya. salamat doc...

doc leletmd just would like to check, if may idea kayo kung magkno yung mga hepatitis b vaccines at saan mas affordable magpa-vaccine? I am not sure pa naman if my child has but lumabas po kasi sa blood test ko na hepab reactive ako. I am not sure if he was vaccinated when he was born kasi chineck ko yung hospital records pero wala.

^ How old is your child now? If he is more than a year old and he visits his pedia regularly, he should've received at least 3 doses of hepatitis B vaccine (given at birth, 1 month and 6 months after the 1st dose). You can ask his pedia for his immunization record.
If he was not given any hepatitis B vaccine yet, please have his hepatitis B profile checked to see if he was infected or he has antibodies already.
By the way, hepatitis B vaccine is part of the Expanded program of immunization of the WHO so they give it free sa local health centers.

Hello, I just want to ask if may side effects ang BCG vaccine like fever and chills and mag apply pa ba ng cold or hot compress sa vaccine area?

^ Don't apply hot or cold compress on the BCG injection site. BCG rarely causes fever. The common reaction is pus formation within 2 to 4 weeks from vaccination followed by scar formation within 4 to 8 weeks after.

Hi doc lelet... What if no pus and scar was formed? Yung baby ko po kase he's 8months napo pero in 8 months wala po talagang bakas... Since his BCG was given hours after his birth sa hospital, hindi ko po nakita saan isinaksak... Pero his butt, legs, arms, wala po talagang wheal with pus at wala pong scar...

Need po ba ulitin yung BCG niya? When is the best time po? TIA

^ As I mentioned before, there are 2 schools of thought sa pag-ulit ng BCG vaccine kung hindi ito nagscar: one says repeat, the other says don't repeat anymore as long as sure na nabigay ito. You can call the hospital and ask them where they normally inject the BCG vaccine. I also suggest you talk to your pedia regarding his or her views on the matter because your pedia's views may be different from mine.

doc leletmd question po, okay lang po bang magpavaccine ng flu at PCV ng 1 week pagitan lang po? Kasi last friday nagpavaccine po kami ng flu, tapos balak ko pong magpavaccine ng PCV this coming saturday okay lang po ba yun? Mag 2 years old na po yung baby ko.

dra leletmd, I have a question po. Nagpafirst 6-in-1 shot po baby ko last July sa pedia niya. Tapos this month yung 2nd shot. Is it okay if sa health center na lang yung 2nd shot niya instead sa pedia niya?

If the health center vaccine is similar to the vaccine given at the pedia, then, yes, it would be ok to have it given at the local health center. However, from what I know, they don't give the 6 in 1 vaccine at the local health center. Please ask your pedia's advice also regarding this. Even if you will have your child vaccinated at the local health center, it is important to go back to the pedia for monthly check ups to monitor development of the baby.

By the way, common side effect of PCV is high grade fever within 24 hours from vaccination.

Thanks doctora leletmd. Last question po, okay lang po bang 3 shots lang PCV or kelangan talaga na 4 shots? Anung pinagkaiba nito sa PPV, what age pwede magpavaccine ng PPV?

Hi doc lelet.  As I mentioned on the other thread, my 9 month old son acquired measles before his scheduled immunization.  Now his pedia is thinking of giving him meningococcal vaccine before he'll acquire it.  It seems this is not included on the list of immunizations on his baby book.  Doc, please enlighten me more on this kind of vaccine and is it a must for my child to be given one?  We frequently visit Baguio and there was a time when there was a meningo outbreak there.  Thank you so much.

hello po sana ma mag reply ask ko lang yung baby namin naka abot na ng 6 months tapos wala siya injection a 6in1 sabe ng pedia kylngan na daw bigay yun kailangan pa ba talga un? kahit na ka 6 months na babay ko , kasi sabe nila diba ang 6in1 hangang 6 months lang. and kung maiinjectionan siya pano ang dosing?

Hi Dra. question lang po na hospital po kasi baby ko due to uti and diarrhea and then sa room po semi private lang nakuha namin bale 2 bed, ang case po ng baby na katabi namin pneumonia po aircon yung room after 2 days po inubo din si baby pag uwi namin ng bahay lumala yung ubo and lagnat binalik namin sa pedia nya meron daw po chance na mahawa si baby kya pina xray namin ang diagnosis po ng xray consider brochopneumonia. nagka pneumonia na si baby nung 2weeks palang sya kaya pina vaccine na namin ng PCV ang question ko po possible pa din po ba talaga na mg ka pneumonia sya? naka 3 shots palang sya pero plan namin icomplete yung vaccine. pero bakit ganun nag ka pneumonia sya agad? thanks po
