Mas malaki kasi ang chance na magdevelop siya ng intussusception kapag pilitin na bigyan siya ngayon. So I suggest that you listen to your pedia kasi tama siya na hindi na talaga pwede bigyan ng rotavirus vaccine.
Yung 8 months na age limit para sa last dose yun, hindi sa 1st dose.

Hi doc ask ko lang po yung pcv po kasi almost 6 months na nabigay first dose sa twins ko kasi nagpalit kami ng pedia so hinabol lang po namin first dose. ok lang po ba yun? premature [po sila born 33 weeks

Good Day. Ask ko lang po sana. My son just turned 4 years old and he's scheduled for his last DPT and polio Booster na. Same lang ba yun sa vaccines na binigay when he was still an infant? Or iba pa yung booster shots nun? I'm planning to have his shots done sa Center kasi since available naman dun and donations lang. Thanks po.

yung PCV po ba dra ok lang po yun ibigay kahit more than 6 weeks na po si baby? 2 months and 3 weeks na po kasi siya on monday and na ka schedule po siya for his first shot of  PCV 13 and Rota Virus.

then regarding po sa pag inom ng water, kailan po allowed si babay uminom ng water? and necessary po ba na linisin yung tongue niya kasi may mga gatas po na parang nag mamantsa sa dila niya. bottle feed po siya..

The Rotavirus vaccine 1st dose should be given before the child turns 14 weeks and 6 days. Otherwise, hindi na ito pwede ibigay since there is increased risk of intussusception.

Hi doc. Thanks for posting about this. My son is scheduled to have the rotavirus next week. and he's already 8 months. I have already conferred this with our pedia and he was confident to give this kahit above 7 months na as he gives more importance to other vaccines muna.

Can you point me to correct researches as to how often intussusception happens on rotavirus takers of 7month old babies? tsaka why below 7 months? talaga bang hindi sila prone to intussusception compared to 7month old ones? thanks in advance!

Before rotateq and rotarix, there was another rotavirus vaccine out in the market in the US called "rotashield". Due to the numerous cases of intussusception developing after vaccination with rotashield, the vaccine was withdrawn from the market and strict recommendations regarding age limits were made with the 2 new rotavirus vaccine.
Most cases of intussusception (with or without being given rotavirus vaccine) occur below 1 year of age, most specifically at 5 to 10 months of age. Here is the e-medicine article on intussusception:

There is no age limit to giving the PCV so kahit na more than 6 weeks of age, pwede bigyan. The number of doses decreases if the PCV 1st dose is given after 6 months of age.
Ok lang sabay ang rotavirus vaccine at PCV. The main side effect of PCV is high grade fever.
Sorry, the question about water is OT. Baka magalit ang mga mods. There is a water thread. Please look it up. Also, it would be best to discuss this matter with your pedia since there are 2 conflicting views regarding water intake in infants. Based on numerous studies though, infants below 6 months of age should not be given water regardless of type of feeding (breastfed or formula fed).

Actually, hindi pa last na booster ng DPT at 4 to 6 years old. Meron pa dapat booster ng Tdap at 11 to 12 years of age. Sa polio, last booster na siya.
Boosters should be the same as the vaccines given in the primary series.

No problem if the PCV was given late as long as naibigay ito/nasimulan na to lessen the risks of developing pneumococcal infections.

Vaccine related fever usually occurs within 24 hours from vaccination, except for live virus vaccines such as Chicken pox and MMR so please contact your pedia regading the fever so that the cause can be investigated.

Main side effect ng PCV ang high grade fever usually occurring within 24 hours from vaccination which is why there is a need to monitor the temperature after vaccination. Please inform your pedia regarding the reaction to the vaccine.

mga sis, sa health center ba sa lugar niyo hinahati rin ang Rotarix? naginquire kasi kami sa h.c dito sa amin at ganun nga raw ang ginagawa. inask ko eto sa pedia ni baby, hindi raw ganun ang practice nila sa clinic. 1 vaccine for 1 baby only. hindi niya raw alam if may ibang packaging for government use. hindi namin inavail dahil Rotateq ang kay baby. napaisip lang ako kung okay lang kaya na half dosage lang matanggap ng baby in case same packaging na available sa private pedias..

^ Rotarix ba raw ang binibigay nila? Dapat kasi hindi ito hinahati if it is the usual rotarix single dose vaccine that is available in private clinics. I do not know of any rotarix multi dose vaccine, unless there is a special multi dose vaccine for government use only.

So doc, kung likely ang case ng intussusception sa 5-10 months, does that mean dapat after that ko na ipa-administer ang anti-rotavirus?

Dito ba sa atin may case na ba ng intussusception due to the anti-rotavirus med?

^ No, I will never recommend giving the rotavirus vaccine beyond the recommended age limit period. Dapat nga mas maaga ang pagbigay ng rotavirus vaccine kaya nga ang deadline ng 1st dose ay 14 weeks and 6 days and last dose to be given before 8 months of age kasi lesser ang risk of intussusception at that age group. Sorry but with all due respect to your pedia, I would rather follow the CDC recommendations because there are studies that support this recommendation and this has led to the withdrawal of a vaccine na nga before. Please read the e medicine link I gave you which states that children up to 5 years of age are at risk of developing intussusception.
Rotashield was not available here so there are no reported cases of intussusception due to the rotashield vaccine here but there are cases of intussusception in Filipino infants not related to the vaccine. 
Post licensure studies are ongoing to determine the risk of developing intussusception with the 2 rotavirus vaccines.

Hi when po ba dapat binibigay yung pcv my baby is 7 months old now I went to the health center the other day wala daw pcv sa kanila if gusto ko daw ipa vaccine si baby I should order from them daw 2800 tapos 3 doses synflorix daw yung vaccine. Im wondering if required ba yung pcv and same lang po ba yung vaccine per dose or does it have a designated strain per dose kasi po if same lang sya per dose can we just buy 3 agad tapos ipaadminister na lang sa health center doctor?

lastly pcv 10 and 13 same number of vaccination po ba? Thanks very much po

I am sorry if my earlier post wasn't clear enough, but as I previously said in this forum several times, there are very strict recommendations regarding the giving of the 1st dose and last dose of the rotavirus vaccine. If you go beyond 14 weeks and 6 days, hindi na dapat ibigay ang 1st dose of rotavirus vaccine because of safety reasons. Same with the last dose, if beyond 8 months na, then hindi na pwede ihabol pa.
By the way, just want to clarify that I said "most cases of intussusception". I did not say all cases of Intussusception. I just gave you the time period when infants are most vulnerable of developing intussusception. It doesn't mean they won't develop intussusception after that time period.

As I mentioned in a recent post, PCV may be given as early as 6 weeks of age. If first dose is given between 6 weeks to 6 months of age, there is a need to give 3 primary doses at least 4 to 8 weeks apart and 1 booster given after 12 months of age.
If the 1st dose is given between 7 to 11 months of age, there is a need to give 2 primary doses at least 8 weeks apart and 1 booster to be given at 12 to 15 months of age and at least 8 weeks from the 2nd dose.
If the 1st dose is given between 12 to 23 months of age: 1 primary dose and 1 booster 8 weeks apart
If the 1st dose is given beyond 24 months: 1 dose only

PCV is a very important vaccine to be given, especially in babies at risk of developing allergies since they are the ones more prone to developing pneumococcal infections.
Same brand should be used all through out the vaccination series since the 2 available brands of PCV have different strains and carrier proteins but I do not recommend buying all 3 doses at once since there may be problems with storage and expiration.
Same number of doses with either PCV 10 or 13. Please take the time to back read.
