sis anjfree, check this link for the list of IBCLCs in the philippines:
http://www.chroniclesofanursingmom.com/2009/05/ibclcs-in-philippines.html

if you think hindi okay sched nila, check this link as well:
http://www.chroniclesofanursingmom.com/2011/02/breastfeeding-counselors-in-philippines.html

don't give up, sis marose has even has preemie twins yet she was able to breastfed them. tyaga lang talaga. ako din, i still have doubts on myself and our breastfeeding relationship, but i just go on one day at a time. i just put in mind that breastmilk is still best for babies.

@anjfree, have you checked the height and weight chart of the WHO?  Iba ang chart ng exclusively breastfed babies from formula or mixed-fed babies.  Also, 500 grams per month weight gain is NOT the only norm for weight gain per month.  Just continue to nurse on demand, relax ka lang diyan because stress greatly affects the quality and quantity of your breastmilk.

How is your baby otherwise?  If baby is not fussy, thriving, happy, maganda ang tulog, maganda ang bowel movement, etc., then the weight gain should not be the SOLE criterion for you to be anxious.  And yes, get a second opinion from a pediatrician who is updated about breastfeeding.  I posted a list in a previous page.

http://kellymom.com/bf/got-milk/supply-worries/fast-letdown/

try also yung biological nurturing:
http://www.biologicalnurturing.com/pages/recipe.html

till now ganyan position namin ni baby kasi my baby prefers to have slower flow of milk. he still sometimes detach/unlatches when there is fast letdown (lalo kung my breast is full). pwera na lang pag gutom na gutom siya. :)

Yay for long weekends! Was able to re-establish my supply! Had to mix feed and give my baby 5oz a day for NAN HA for a week since nagkukulang yung pump ko & my stash of frozen bm was used up na. Now were back to exclusive BM & i've been able to store a few more bags of BM. :)

Question, is it ok to ger vaccinated for cervical cancer even while breastfeeding?

medyo confused ako. sinasabi ng iba never nagiging kulang ang supply ng mommy kapag exclusive breastfeed. so paano nasasabi ng ibang moms na hindi nga enough ang nakukuha ng baby nila?

given na kulang nga ang nakukuha ng baby, paano yung never nag formula, tuloy tuloy lang kahit hindi enough nakukuha ni baby?

^based on my experience, if i direct feed never nagkulang ang supply or intake ng baby ko. I might need to feed more often than if i pump pero may nakukuha padin son ko & usually naman and i also read it somewhere that babies tend to drink more milk via bottle than breast kasi when they suck mas fast ang flow kahit slowest nipple pa yan compared to sucking from the breast. Mas konti din nakukuha king milk when i pump kaya nagkukulang ang stash ko while if i bfeed directlt my baby seems to get satisfied even with just sucking or having my teat in his mouth.

^^ m_lim in breastfeeding you have to remember the following:

1) it works on the law of supply & demand. The more the baby DIRECTLY latches on you, your body produces more. Pumping alone will NOT increase your supply

2) volume of pumped milk is NOT a gauge if your baby is getting enough milk. Pumps are no match to baby's sucking

3) EBF babies nurse more than formula fed ones. Why? Formula is heavier on the tummy. Breastmilk is easily digestible because there are no added fillers.

Or masama yun for baby kasi baka mapunta sa lungs?
Kasi alam ko pag bottle feed masama padede in ng nakahiga kasi baka mapunta sa lungs..

m_lim pumping at some levels helps. It helps relieve the engorgement. You can use it to build your stash. For cases when you're often away from your child (like for working moms), it is important that you pump. Remember law of supply and demand. If your breasts are not stimulated for long hours, your body will think no supply is needed so it will adjust accordingly. Since you cannot possibly bring your baby with you, pumping is the next best thing. But if you're with your baby, as much as possible let the baby latch on you.

Pero hindi naman ibig sabihin the two of you need to be with each other 24/7. For your own emotional health, "me" time is needed. These will be the times when you will need your stash and also pump when you're away. Ako personally since I am with my son most of the time, I only store milk for emergency (even durig the time when he was younger). So if I'm out, I only pump and dump. I don't even bring a breast pump with me and would only hand express to stimulate my breasts and to relieve na din the engorgement

^^you mean side lying position? I've been doing this to my baby even when he was still a newborn and he's perfectly fine. take note that bottle feeding is different from breastfeeding.

m_lim, there's a breastfeeding seminar at st. lukes fort next month if im not mistaken (saw it at a poster last week). i HIGHLY encourage you to attend seminars like this if you're really keen on breastfeeding your baby.

My baby is generally happy except for some episodes of fussiness either in the evening or dawn... He gets to poop 3-5 times and 5 wet diapers.  Eto lang talaga other measure ko. Yung sleep longer in the evenings. Pag gising ng 4am he will feed from time to time na. Dito minsan he gets fussy.

I'm taking it also one day at a time... Will also see a new pedia and a lactation counselor. I don't want to give up.

grayce - are you pertaining to the LATCH seminar? last week sya August 18. dumaan ako pero patapos na rin. unless meron ulit next month.

Anjfree, your baby is just a few weeks old di ba? At that age as much as possible don't let your baby go at long stretches without getting milk. Ganyan din problem ng baby ko before. He rather sleep. Ako naman I welcome that since hello that means sleep for me too. But I learned here that that shouldn't be the way. Maybe that also explains the low weight gain. So from then on I wake him up to nurse

Re rate, I think I paid zeny feliciano around php 7k for a (3) 1hr consultation. Included here is a lactation massage

^ My officemate and his wife attended a breastfeeding class at St. Luke's QC last weekend.

Medical City also offers monthly breastfeeding seminars.

I also recommend the following books:

1) Best Feeding:  How to Breastfeed your Baby by Mary Renfrew
2) The Nursing Mother's Companion by Kathleen Huggins and
3) The Breastfeeding Book by Dr. Sears

and the following sites:

1)  www.kellymom.com
2)  www.llli.org

and the following blogs:

1) Chronicles of a Nursing Mom
2) The Breastfeeding Club

Just read, read, read and you will be prepared.

@anjfree, yun naman pala eh, baby is happy.  Why on earth are you thinking of giving up? ???

Hi sis marose, sometimes kasi I see my baby sucking while sleeping kahit he just finished. Tapos he gets to have short sleep pag daytime and would nurse for longer periods. Anyway, nabuhayan Ako ulit ng loob. Thank you everyone.

I will inquire on lactation counseling. Nakita ko website ng st. Luke's they have a lactation unit.
