Hi mga sis nagsend na ng sample proposal si sunlife sakin, I would love to hear your inputs.

1. Accidental death benefit is 750k, critical illness benefit is 350k.
2. Annual premium starts at 19,860 payable for 18 years or until I reached 45 yrs old.
3. Insurance coverage is until 88 years old
4. Every 5 years critical illness benefit premium increases does nag i-increase din yung anual premium na kelangan i-settle.

Okay kaya ito? my friend kasi got his sunlife too pero payable for only 10 years lang then 1m din yung combined death and critical illness benefit, though hindi ako sure kung until what age ang coverage nya, so parang nagdadalawang isip ako.

what do you think po?

Maxilink is better if you plan on paying the premium
for just a few years.

ano po kaya ang pwede sa kin na insurance, gusto ko sana educational plan for my son at the same time for health and retairment. meron ba ganun po?

Hi sis, it's better that you set up different financial instruments since different things ang financial goals mo - educational plan, health benefits and retirement.

If you're looking for life insurance + hospital benefits + investment for retirement, Sun Life has a product called Sun Flexilink Assist.

You can choose to pay or deposit for it in 5, 10, or 20 years.

If you're looking for life insurance + educational plan, it has Sun Maxilink Bright.

Official product descriptions are here: http://www.sunlife.com.ph/philippines/Products+and+Services/Variable+life+insurance/Plans?vgnLocale=en_CA

Can you recommend someone whom I could talk about Sunlife and all the details thereof? I'm planning kasi to get my hubby his insurance and I don't know how to start..

Hi sis! :) Are you looking for pure protection only, or did you want a life insurance with an investment component for your husband?

Hi.

Does anyone here avail the sunlife dynamic?

Hi sis, are you talking about Sun Life's new mutual fund type - Dynamic Fund? The unique feature of this new fund is that it has the flexibility to shift from equity (0-90%) to bonds (10-100%) or vice versa depending on the prevailing market condition. Think of it as a well-adjusting balanced fund.

Personally I got one for myself for retirement, since I'm retiring in 30 years pa naman.

Update lang, the AUM (Asset Under Management) of the Dynamic Fund as of Wednesday, 09 July 2014 is Php 1.104 Billion. We will be closing the Fund once the AUM is already at Php 2 Billion. :)

It sounds to me like you got a Sun Flexilink proposal, since for 18 years ang period nya.

For your friend, since mayroon syang kasamang critical illness benefit, it's actually Sun Flexilink Assist payable for 10 years also. It's a new product.

For Sun Maxilink Prime kasi, hindi pwedeng mag-attach ng critical illness benefit rider.

Here are some differences between Sun Maxilink Prime, Sun Flexilink and Sun Flexilink Assist:

Sun Maxilink Prime
- optimal payment period is 10 years
- you can only add Accidental Death Benefit, Total Disability Benefit & Hospital Income Benefit as riders
- life insurance protection coverage until age 88

Sun Flexilink
- you can dictate how long you want to deposit for it
- more riders are available in the options: aside from Accidental Death Benefit, Total Disability Benefit & Hospital Income Benefit, you can also add Critical Illness Benefit, Female and Maternity Benefit, Female Critical Illness, etc.
- life insurance protection coverage until age 88

Sun Flexilink Assist
- you can choose to deposit for 5 years, 10 years or 20 years
- fixed na only the following riders can be attached as benefits: Accidental Death Benefit, Total Disability Benefit, Hospital Income Benefit & Critical Illness Benefit
- life insurance protection coverage until age 88

my hubby and I both have maxilink prime to augment our retirement needs. ;)

Congratulations, sis! :) Cheers to a comfortable retirement in the future!

Here, knock yourself out:
http://www.sunlife.com.ph/philippines/Products+and+Services/Mutual+funds/Sun+Life+Prosperity+Funds/Dynamic+Fund?vgnLocale=en_CA

You can find a FAQ plus the fund's prospectus in that link.

The fund's objective is attractive but dang those fees, its
so expensive.

Currently its doing so much worse than its benchmark.

Mga sis when you first paid for your insurance, binayaran nyo ba yung first year amount ng full? sabe kasi nung kausap kong financial advisor mas okay na bayaran agad yung isang buong annual fee kasi may mga fees daw na idededuct.

That's not applicable for VUL but it is applicable to traditional insurance.
Even pre-need products practice this.

You can search for modal premiums in google to find out more.

Basically, you pay more monthly, quarterly and semi-annual
and in that order compared to if you pay annually because
the premiums are computed per year.

If you want to pay quarterly, you are essentially paying
in installments.

So it means na pag VUL ang kinuha ko pwedeng first month muna ang bayaran ko? Sabi din kasi sa akin ng financial advisor na mas okay ang annually. Which one is better? Thanks

First month is better and paying monthly thereafter
as you would be practicing cost averaging.

Did he tell you why he thinks paying annually is better?

Tell him that if you pay monthly, you would be
practicing peso cost averaging.

I have Maxilink Prime and paid annually. I want to have to practice cost averaging.

What is better to do:
- change from annually to quarterly
- pay full before the anniversary and when the market is down
- staggered payments when market is down

If staggered payments, may limit ba per year?
aside from 5% charge every time magbayad/top up, may extra charges pa ba?

Thanks in advance

I pay online and pay whenever you want.

The payment frequency just dictates how frequent
I get premium notices not how frequent I want to pay.

Remember that as long as there is enough fund value
to absorb the charges you're good.

Personally, I pay twice a month.

Once you have gone over your annual premium then
you get charged a top up fee and that's it.

Hi! Joining this thread :)

I'll be meeting with a Sunlife agent this coming Friday after deciding to get a MaxiLink Prime. I will pay the minimum quarterly amount up front. For those who pay monthly, do you do it online lang? Would appreciate your advise on paying monthly installment basis vs. annually. Thank you!

Sabi sakin ng financial advisor ko, wala daw option to pay monthly, pinaka mababa is yung quarterly.

*flexilink is 10 years to pay sis m_lim

@Ma.Jewel,your answer to m_lim is wrong. Please check your documentation again.

Also your answer to choco_loka is technically correct, but again the premium
payment frequency doesn't really have an impact aside from how frequent
you get your premium notice.

I pay online twice a month or I can even pay once a week if I wanted to.

@m_lim, its not 10 years. VUL policies has no set paying period
as long as your fund value is enough to absorb the charges.

With that said, there is a limit on how long you can pay
the premiums for.

Flexilink: up to age 88
Maxilink: merong 10 years and 5 years
