^&^^ True that, girls!

Dagdag ko lang pero di ba, kaya you buy nice things kasi gusto mo hindi to give yourself an illusion that you're more superior. Pwede naman i-build na lang character if you wanna feel better about yourself, libre pa  :)

Well, I'll share reverse yabang naman na parang judgmental. Some people kasi who afford some things like makakain sa medyo mahal na restaurant or may branded bag or something they give the stink eye dun sa iba na meron din, like they try to put down others or make it seem as if they are better kahit you have both the ability to afford the same stuff.

True experiences to ha:

At Oody's in Greenbelt. I was with this friend who I have not seen close to 5 years since we were both living out of the country for sometime. Syempre we asked for menus and we were too excited we started taking photos while waiting. Pagdating ng menu, well, wala kami nagustuhan so we politely apologized to the staff as in super pasensya. Then, we passed by this group of girls dining with some guy friends ata and the whispered loudly "oh my god, nagpicture lang sila"

Goodness, mamatay-matay ako sa kakatawa. So these girls had the audacity to judge me just because I exercised my right as a consumer.

Last month, sa megamall, these girls, who ang common factor ay kakalabas lang ng forever 21, kung makatingin mula ulo hanggang paa. Ako ang nahiya.

Kaya naalala ko the above, kasi while at brow studio's reception, I warmly greeted with a smile this matrona-looking lady kasi she was approaching. I was smiling kasi I wanted her to know she can approach na because I was almost done with my conversation with the receptionist, what weirded me out she wasn't looking at my face but at my bag at naka-taas ang kilay tinignan ako mula ulo hanggang paa. When have ladies become so vile? These people who look like they can afford stuff (she had her Chanel with her, I'm basing it on that), why the need mang-uri ng ibang tao?

I can relate to this!

Almost same scenario din sis.

Add ko lang din there was a time I was with my family and we went to Nike Outlet store in Sta. Rosa. Ang damit kasi ng parents ko simple lang and I was wearing pink shirt and short tapos naka flip flops lang. There was this pa-sosyal girl na may hawak ng LV bag na branded. Tapos my dad and her companions were looking for shoes. Nakakainis lang kasi she was looking at us from head to foot. Ang bag ko lang noon eh Longchamp and I was holding a phone. Parang tingin nya samin di maka-afford bumili ng shoes. Come payment at the cashier, nauna lang sya ng konti pero tintingnan pa rin kami. Nakita she purchased the shoes using credit card, that time tinanong ng cashier Mom ko kung credit card din ba, sa inis ko, I told the cashier na hindi cash babayad namin. Ayun tingin na naman ng bongga. Hindi ko magets why she keeps staring at us with a disdain look na parang di ka belong sa lugar.

Hayyys! Ewan ko ba...

^ I really do not get the hype with Forever 21. Seriously, I prefer such brands like Zara, Guess... maybe F21 is not really for me ^_^

^ same here. I used to love their stuff before pero lately napapansin ko di na magaganda yung styles or kung meron man I can find them in Landmark or SM. Ok pa rin ang Zara for me di hamak in terms of quality.

@ Raven, naku marami talagang ganyan. Mga matapobre. They're condescending. I avoid this kind of people.

@ ShopaholicPrincess, seriously? They think F21 is "it" and they feel that they have the right to patronize others just because they shop there? Wow. What have they been smoking? I'm a fan of F21 but even I admit that it's dirt-cheap. Pang masa, kumbaga.

@Molybdenum: I love F21 not because of the hype but because I like girly pieces and their XS and S sizes fit me well. No alteration needed.

I agree. The reason for buying nice stuff is dahil gusto mo and not para maliitin yung hindi kayang bumili. Ang yes character mas important sa lahat.

same here sis, F21 is not for me. Isang beses palang ako nkabili dun. And I know someone na pag-open ng F21 sa SM Makati mega photo op talaga sa boutique and flaunt ever ng mga nabili na kesyo maganda and madadalas na daw sya sa F21. Well, kanya-kanyang trip naman ang lahat. :)

I prefer zara as well mas nakakahanap ako ng fit sa akin :) Minsan na misinterpret na din ako sa pagsabi na mas like ko ang zara, nataasan na din ako ng kilay and nasabihan na pasosyal. But for me I like zara hindi dahil pasosyal kasi alam ko meron pang ibang brands na mas sosyal but because ok sya tingnan sa akin and like ko styles.

@Prunella, I also like F21 kasi nga tama nga yung fit ng size nila sakin.

Even yung mga sandals nila around 500-800. Pina-check ko sa asawa ko before yung quality ng shoes and he disapproved it. I think you can get more affordable shoes outside F21. Mas ok pa nga yung mga sandals at shoes sa Zara eh. Tried and tested na matibay dahil sirain ako shoes at sandals. :P

^i happen to know filthy rich people who think that luxury brands are meant for them, not for others who are outside their circle. That's why when they see plain/simple people wearing high-end goods, they smirk and even doubt the authenticity of the goods. Judgmental kasi.

Nako ako din yung tao na ganyan, i dont care how i look as long as i have money in my pocket.

Ewan ko nga ba bakit ganon, most of the time yung mga tao na mas madalas mang-discriminate eh sila pa talaga yung wala naman talaga pera, not that it si right to do whether you have money or not. kumbaga parang mga former workmates ko na nasa mid-management level.

reading this thread i couldn't help but remember a friend. well, she is a good friend of mine, and i don't have any ill-feelings toward her in any way. but i just couldn't help feeling amused at her posting habits on facebook and twitter. since we are close friends, of course i know her real social status in life. but she's the kind who flaunts her latest nail art done at some salon, pics of her latest dine-outs, and often posts those check-in thingies at blah blah blah.

there's another acquaintance of mine who married rich, who posts everything on facebook with the Chanels and LVs and weekend five-star hotel getaways, all courtesy of wealthy hubby. i would have been impressed if they were acquired out of her own capability as a career woman or whatever. but yeah, a case of thanks hubby.

in my facebook wall, i have my criteria of finding the difference between meaningful and interesting posts like travel and event/gathering photos (isn't this the purpose of social media "sharing" anyway?) to plain ostentation like telling the world about your latest shopping spree at the mall and "chilling" at Starbucks after. i realize that image is not reliable. i really admire people who are rich, or just living comfortably in silence. those who dress simply and keep a low profile with more than six figures in the bank.

on the other hand, i realize that these people who are such show offs are probably overcompensating for whatever it is they feel they lack in life. hence, the constant need to prove to others that they have "it."

^ ako lang ah. I really don't care if people are posting their latest gadgets, at least may ipagmamayabang 'diba? However, constant posting of anything you want to flaunt to either fit in or anything might annoy everyone, like for instance, kahit simpleng mani-pedis lang or maybe dining out in a luxury restaurant, or kahit makeup man lang... basta anything shallow might be annoying but yeah (;

What is annoying for me is when you're really showing the world everything about your relationship with someone, then you're being a warfreak to those who "interfere." Discreet relationships are always the best.

^right. good for them if they have something to show. and good for them too if they all acquire it in honest means and without debt. nothing wrong with buying stuff, eating out, and whatnot. i do all of those. that's what makes life enjoyable. but in sticking to the title of the thread, i talked about the examples i see in my own facebook wall. and with all the posts that bombard my wall everyday, for me there is a line between plain sharing and blatant showing off.

Hahaha!! Kailangan talaga sabihin yung brand? Kenneth Cole ang shades, chanel ang bag, mango ang damit nine west ang shoes, soen ang undies. Lol

Hhahahah!! I know someone, acquaintance lang naman.  May album sya ng mga solo pictures nya, tapos naka lagay sa caption na inisa isa nya suot niya, from bag to watch, shoes, damit, sunglass haha! nakakatawa lang kase before she went to the place where she is right now, our common acquaintance was actually complaining to me that she left without paying her debt, at nangungutang pa ata sa isa pa naming kakilala.

Hayyys! Ewan ko ba...

Ano nga ba ang meron sa F21? Siguro bago sa paningin?? Sa ibang bansa kase di yan high-end brand.  Same with H&M, I even saw showbiz people na nagpopost sa instagram about their haul from H&M...

know this someone, more of acquaintance (lets name her Ms. J), then there was a common friend (Mr. T) na nagpost sa wall niya asking for any possible solution sa PC niya. Si Ms. J nagcomment ng kaunti sa possibleng solusyon and then added na she bought this branded laptop worth so and so (as in sinabi niya price), with the the latest specs whatever.

You'd know naman if a person is bragging eh, yung wala naman sa usapan ipagpipilitang isingit masabi lang na meron sya.  Saka I don't mind if people post of their travel, new gadgets, etc. in facebook, basta kaya nila. Ayoko lang is yung bili dito, travel dyan, tapos at the end of the day walang pampaaral sa anak, o nagkakandautang utang para matustusan ang kapritso tapos di naman marunong magbayad.
