^makikisabat lang, malalaman mo lang pag malikot ang kamay ng tenant mo pag yun nga bigla na lang may nababawas or nawawala sa mga kagamitan nyo na hindi nyo naman nararanasan dati. Very obvious to lalo na kung conscious ka sa usage mo at tantsado mo na kung ilan ang nagagamit mo before the tenant was around.

Dun pa lang huling huli mo na. Masakit pa dyan, parang maamong tupa pag kaharap mo pero hindi mo napapansin dumadakot na ng bigas yan sa stock nyo or 2 scoop ng sabon. Sa bigas, lagyan mo ng palatandaan yung container nyo para malaman mo kung may gumalaw like put the scoop in a position na ikaw lang nakakaalam, etc. Ever since nahuli ko ibang house mate ko na sumisikwat ng stock ko, mula noon tinatago ko na sa kwarto ko yung sabong panlaba ko tsaka bigas ko.

As for lowering the PUB, best way talaga is to not use aircon. Proven ko na to dun sa last na tinirhan ko. Kasama ko owner na lokal sa house tapos may ka-roommate ako na pinoy, all rooms are not airconditioned, lahat kami naka-electric fan lang, no cable tv din so madalas walang nagamit ng tv kaya kahit araw araw kami mag luto ng room mate ko, yung total PUB namin for the entire flat lumalabas lang at no more than 150SGD, madalas papalo lang sa less 130SGD yung actual amount. Paghahatian pa namin yun - half sa owner and the other half paghahatian din namin ng roommate ko. I can personally attest to this kasi mismong owner pinapakita ang bill sa min ng room mate ko, transparent at honest kaya walang linlangan talaga. We do have fiber connection pero optional, kung gusto makikabit dagdag 10sgd lang, hindi tulad ng ibang pinoy isasama pa sa buong PUB ang paggamit ng wifi. No need to use hot water din all the time kasi nga hindi kami nag aircon so hindi naman kami giniginaw pag gising sa umaga dahil katamtaman naman ang temperature ng tubig sa gripo. And last but not the least, minimize na lang din paggamit ng ilaw or ibang appliances if you can help it.

Btw, the owners of the flat where I last stayed are a singaporean chinese couple and no kids.

one thing i also noticed that can help lower PUB bill is doing the laundry once or twice a wk lang.
 Napansin ko kasi there was a time i did the laundry mga 4x a week pumalo ng around $180 bill namin! I think yun na pinakamataas so far.
When i do the laundry saturday & sunday mornings only,  averaging at $150 [textspeak!] pub namin kahit 2br naka-ac every night. TV's always off. Lagi lang naka-on is Ref, pc at router.  Siempre lights pag gabi. I cook 2x a day (kasama din [textspeak!] gas sa pub namin).

Long time ago naman, i was left alone in the unit (kids were in pinas, my hubby was in uk for a month for training), was working 6 days a wk (required ot) for 9 hrs, so halos walang tao sa bahay...grabe nsa less than $30 lang yung pub! Hahaha

I think the bottomeline is, mas madaming tao, mas malaking PUB...especially pag yung mga kasama sa house hindi marunong magtipid sa kuryente.

@Girltalker2 : Ewan ko rin with our former housemates. Di rin namin alam kung sino sa kanila ni MT ang malikot ang kamay basta dito sa new unit lang namin na-realize na naisahan nila kami. Kakaiba talaga mga housemates namin dun esp the MT. Yung due nga ng rent namin dun was the date of MTs commencement of lease, not kung kelan kami lumipat, plus pinagbayad pa kami ng admin fees na 140 para daw sa share namin sa Stamp Duty. Samantalang dito sa new unit, we only paid  120 for Stamp Duty of the whole unit na.

4 adults + 1 toddler lang kami dito sa unit. We occupy the masters and 2 girlfriends occupy 1 common room. The 3rd room is vacant and reserved for guests like family and close friends. Siguro factor din na mababa ang consumption pag brand new yung appliance, inverter din yung acs. Malamig dito sa area namin kaya late na namin pinapaandar ang aircon. Now that we're MTs, di namin ginagawa sa housemates namin ang ginawa sa amin dati. We don't set limits in the use of aircon, heater and washing machine.  Malaking factor yata din having responsible housemates kasi we always mind our consumption even without having to remind each other. When all of us are out of the house, we unplug everything except the wifi and ref. Most of our clothes, wash-and-wear so we seldom iron them.

Naka-attend pala ako ng Filipino mass last Sunday, ang saya ang daming Pinoy.

120515 - kung friends kayo, baka nag a ask lang yung friend mo ng help to clean the flat. If you cannot help, just tell her. If you can help, then help her - puedeng financially or labor of love

Pero as far as obligations are concerned, bago ka pa umalis, dapat pinalinis na nya sayo yung inalisan mo, otherwise paano naman titira ng maayos yung pumalit

hi Girltalker2, i cleaned my whole room, including the cabinets and windows, before i left. i also cleaned the pantry area that i used. i already left end of august and they found someone to replace me. so basically, i wasn't living there anymore for 6 months. but at the end, the cleaning charges, including the aircon cleaning charges, were all charged to me and not the person who replaced me in my room.

Hay issue regarding sa mga MT. Nagrerent ako ng common room with my husband. We have decided to move out to get a master room since need ko ng bigger space dahil pregnant ako and pag magvavacation yung baby, together with my parents and yaya, hindi kami magsisiksikan sa maliit na common room. I talked to the MT personally ng maayos and she said hindi daw siya masstress maghanap ng kapalit ko. So meaning to say, sa kin niya ibibigay yung stress ng paghahanap ng replacement. Maiintindihan ko sana kung sasabihin niya sa kin na tumulong ako maghanap ng replacement. But instead, yung buong burden eh binigay niya sa kin considering na siya ang MT. What's weird is that siya sa isang sub tenant nagrereklamo and saying stuff about the contract where in fact wala naman ako pinirmahan na anything.  She keeps on highlighting na nasa contract daw yung name ko since i was already a subtenant when she renewed the house. but my point is i didn't sign anything and natural lang naman na i-declare sa HDB yung tenants ng house. Hay stress! Bat may mga ganyang tao. Kawawa naman ang baby ko.

Hi sis i think yung MT lang ata ang pumupirma sa contract, and they just give the names of the other tenants to the owner.
(Pls correct me if i'm wrong, lets wait for other sis here)
Don't stress about it so much, isipin si baby Buti lilipat na kayo, they say the rent is getting lower na these days.... yung kakilala ng hubby ko will be moving to a 3-br condo at Yishun, 2900/mo. lang ang rent. odiba dati hdb lang yan

hi charmed30, when we had to look for someone to take over our room, we went to easyroommate.sg and we were able to find a replacement within 2-3 days. i hope you'll find one just as easily as well. don't stress yourself out and good luck!

I heard nga mura na ang condos ngayon... Nung nakapila ako for OAV registration, nagkkwento yung nasa likod ko, yung condo na nirent nila, 2.6k daw, 3BR. Tapos yung isang friend daw nya different condo slightly expensive sa kanila pero may videoke room naman daw. Hehe!

Magcheck kayo sa gumtree at craigslist. Pero ingat din, baka ma-scam. Muntik na ako dyan.

@charmed30, yes sis MT lang pumipirma sa contract pero binibigay nya sa agent ang photocopy ng pass ng lahat ng tenants. Nakalagay din kasi sa contract kung ilang tao lang ang allowed tumira sa bahay.

Anyway, nung nagrenew sya ng contract eh tenant ka na ba nya? Usually kasi sa umpisa palang pinaguusapan na ang mga ganyang bagay, like kung aalis ka before the contract ends sino ang maghahanap ng kapalit.

Mas okay if pareho na lang kayo magtulungan na maghanap ng kapalit.

Post ka sa pinoysg, madami namang naghahanap dun =)

we found our condo through 99.co and we didn't have to pay an agent's fee. try looking there.

for balkibayan boxes, i've tried both speedbox and lbc, both services were okay. my boxes reached my province in 3-4 weeks
