Magdedepende to sa location nya. Usually there are markets and hawker centers found within or nearby vicinity of residential areas and even work places pero not catholic churches.

You can refer to "gothere.sg" para macheck mo if there are any nearby his location.

If you have already left the flat then it shouldn't be your concern any longer kung ano pa ipa-request syo ng main tenant. Usually main tenants takes unreasonable advantage of their tenants as much as they can, yung tipong requesting absurd things like you're obligated to look for a replacement before you leave such as asking favors na wala sa original contract mo with them or wala naman kayo verbal agreement in the first place.

Personally, it never happened to me kasi pag ganyang papalapit na ang end of contract sa lease inuunahan ko na ng alis tapos bibiglain ko. Yung tipong within a few weeks pag nakakita na ko ng lilipatan unti-unti ko na ililipat mga gamit ko dun sa bagong palce tapos by the time I declare sa current na main tenant ko na lilipat ako konti na lang mga gamit na bibitbitin ko at hindi na ko maoobliga na tumulong sa main tenant na maglipat din ng mga gamit nila.

^I may not know you're whole story pero I don't think you're being unreasonable naman - you're just being sure lang. Naunahan ka lang siguro ng takot kasi isipin mo ireklamo ka sa pulis ng MT for not complying. Always remember na pagdating sa mga ganyang bagay, kung wala naman kayo original na agreement (verbal or written) on such matters sa simula pa lang then you're not obliged na sumunod. And since nakaalis ka na pala kamo sa kanila so why bother?

Things can only get hairy if meron kayo kasulatan na pinirmahan (yung contract) about that AT kung mismong landlord (owner) mismo ng flat ang kausap mo. MT are not necessarily owners, they are also just renting out the place just like you do and on which they also sublet to you. Mahihilig lang talaga mag power trip ang ibang MT kasi nga sila ang directly responsible sa may-ari for the whole unit, si MT ang naka pirma sa papel so ganyan manakot ang mga yan to the point na  kung ano-anong demands na ang gustong impose sa tenants na wala na sa usapan like tataasan rent mo, bigla ka sisingilin sa wi-fi, curfew, etc.

FYI, I'm no longer updated sa HDB ruling on subletting since I left SG over a year ago PERO the suggestion I gave about the owner part should still be in effect kasi basic ruling yan ever since, you can ask around there just to sure.

hi 17glut, thank you once again; our situation is a little bit different. i know the MT and we started renting the flat together with another friend but i decided to move out when the flat started to get too crowded for me (MT had a baby and then flew in a nanny). i'm not afraid of her but i wanted to check other people's experiences regarding these issues.

Hi Sis!

No need ka ng magshare sa kung ano man ang hingiin sayo ng previous MT mo since middle of the lease ay umalis ka na.

It's the MT and the rest of the occupants who last stayed in the place for the rest of the contract needs to do the spring cleaning etc.

^Hi sis, as what they mentioned, wala ka ng obligation pa dun sa dating flat. We were MTs too pero at the end of our contract kami talaga ang punong abala sa paglilinis. Ang pinaka-requirement ko lang that time is magbayaran pa din kami ng PUB, wifi, at kung may nasira sila ay i-declare na. Maayos naman silang kausap kaya naturn over namin sa owner ang flat.

OA naman dati mong MT, half a year ka ng wala sa house sisingilin ka pa din?! Sakit nya sa bangs! hehe!

hi bratty, thanks for your inputs as well.
i've already gotten into a very long argument with her about this. in the end, just for my own peace of mind, i agreed to take a 1/6 share. however, i still told her that she should have taken more of the share because they're occupying the most space (master's bed + master's bath + living area has become their nanny's room as well). she became very defensive about it. and then now, she's asking me and my other friend (who has also moved out last weekend) to inspect the cleaner's work. i've now resorted to ignoring her messages because i hate getting angry at people.
but thank you to everyone for giving me their insights on my issue. it is really appreciated

Ang bait mo pa nga sis e! Pero sa akin talaga, dedma na yan. Yung inalisan nga naming HDB nagmanual cleaning talaga kami tapos i took photos and sent to the owner. Buti na lang may proof ako, kasi yung pumalit sa amin umarte na mgpapa cleaning services na umabot ng $300. E ok naman yung owner dun sa nalinis na namin, gusto ata pang 5 star hotel type ang klase ng linis. Ayun, sinabihan kami ng owner na no need to share at nalinis na namin even all the windows ha. Since maarte daw yung lilipt, sila na magshoulder ng kaartehan nila. Local pa yung owner, mas nakaintindi pa sa kapwa pinoy.

May mga ibang pinoy din talaga dito sa SG na ganyan. Di maiiwasan, kaya dedmahin mo na lang. Better dont share at all, naghahanap lang ng kadamay yan.

Troth!  mga pinoy lang ang kadalasang ganyan sa SG, mas maayos pa kausap ang mga lokal sa halos lahat ng bagay.

Hala I can relate to this kasi sa dating tinirhan namin, kakaiba din ugali ng mga Pinoy housemates... lol

Now that we're renting as MT, we shoulder the cleaning, maintenance of common areas and other miscellaneous expenses. One room is being rented by my friend and her former housemate. We don't charge much and all in na lahat yung share nila sa rent, kasama na pub and wifi-cable. We don't charge them for having friends and family members use the 3rd vacant room even if they use the ac/heater or other appliances. They themselves naman marunong mahiya and di umaabuso kaya may peace of mind kami sa bahay.

Hubby and I did not regret renting this unit, kahit na we're paying more for 2 rooms and other misc fees, we're happier here kesa sa dati naming tinitirhan. Mas malapit sa cbd so seldom na taxi-rides with my toddler. Nobody messes with our food stock in the cabinet. Dati, my 5 kilos of rice di umaabot ng 1 week, dito lampas pa ng 1 week kahit nandito si mama. Mababa na rin ang bill namin sa PUB. Dati, when we were renting 1 room, we paid 220/month on average. Now, we only pay  half of that amount and that's for the entire house consumption na. We realized we were overcharged when we were renting that small shitty room na halos walang gamit.

Sadly dito, I find Pinoys more insensitive than locals. Meron namang mababait pero yung iba arogante talaga. Di ko ma-gets if may pinagdadaanan lang or dahil sa status ng pass kaya sila rude... lol

120515 - kung friends kayo, baka nag a ask lang yung friend mo ng help to clean the flat. If you cannot help, just tell her. If you can help, then help her - puedeng financially or labor of love

Pero as far as obligations are concerned, bago ka pa umalis, dapat pinalinis na nya sayo yung inalisan mo, otherwise paano naman titira ng maayos yung pumalit sayo.

However, sa case ni glut, put yourself in the shoes of the MT. Pagsabay sabay naman kayo mag aalis an, hindi naman Siguro Tama na layasan mo nalang ang MT mo. It is just right to leave your room/ area the same as you moved in. Minsan kasi landlords are unreasonable din in the effort to take back some income since wala pa mag rent agad or pambayad sa agent nila.

Hirap may kasama sa bahay pero baka i-consider ko na ito as last resort as living expenses here is not cheap.

Talaga? Nakakatakot naman iyan. Paano mo malaman kung patay gutom ang tenant or maayos kausap? How to avoid this?

220 for 1 room is too much! Buong flat ko iyan mga 200 lang, one room should be a lot less, baka sayo lahat naka karga ang cable etc. Did you bother checking the electric bill?

On the other hand, you only pay 100 sgd now buong flat? Parang ang mura, paano ba to lower electricity bill?
