Hello. My baby had tigdas hangin before after his first birthday. Lagnat muna tapos rashes. Tapos sumusuka. Ayaw ng milk. Worry ko now baka umulit? Umuulit ba yung measles? Kasi ngayon coughs tapos nagkarashes na parang freckles sa face. Pero walang lagnat. Yun cough niya may halak. Hirap huminga. Worried ako kasi may rashes sa mukha. Could it be allergy? Nagprescribe ng zyrtec sa amin before for allergies pero hindi pa ako bumili kasi baka hindi naman allergies yun. Nag nebulize lang kami ng salbutamol muna.

Please bring your baby to the pedia for proper diagnosis and treatment, especially since the cough is already causing difficulty of breathing. Please do not self medicate or re-introduce medications that were given before since every illness is different and may require different treatment.
There is no measles re-infection. Once you've had measles, you develop immunity to it. There are other causes of viral exanthems. Other viruses may also cause fever and rashes which is why it is better to bring your child to the pedia so that proper diagnosis can be made.

Sa ngayon, under observation ang 1 yr and 11 months baby ko. 3 days sya nag high fever (39-40), then 4th day lumabas ang rashes nya pero wala na sya fever. Nag start sa trunk at tummy, paakyat sa neck, face and armpit ang rashes nya. Nag worry ako baka kc dengue na as seen ng friend ko na nurse at kapitbahay nmin. So dinala ko si baby the next day sa PCMC. Nag CBC sya, 163 platelet count nya, within normal daw pero mababa pa rin daw so may repeat CBC sya knina. 169 na platelet count. Pero sabi ng pedia, dalhin pa rin daw si baby kinabukasan sa clinic nya para matingnan. Wala pa rin sinasabing resulta kung dengue ba or tigdas hangin lang. Ngayon, kumonti na rashes nya. At lumakas na din mag milk. Confusing at di pa rin ako mapalagay until now. Haissst...

hi! mother po ako ng 1 yr. 5mons. baby girl, kahapon nagsusuka ang baby ko pero hindi naman frequent ang pagsuka nya, pinainom ko sya ng ORS pero tinitikman nya lang yun, inobserve ko po sya for 1 night kung magsusuka pa, kaninang umaga pag gising nya sumuka sya so i decided to bring her to the emergency room, kinuhanan po sya ng dugo pero ok naman po yun result, nag worry kase ako na ma-dehydrate si baby, nahirapan naman kaming mag collect ng wee nya sa hospital kaya inuwi ko na lang muna sya kase sabi namn ng doctor di nman kailangan i-dextrose. sabi lang painumin ko ng pedialyte. pag uwi namin may naglabasan sa kanyang mga pulang rashes from the neck po hanggang chest tapos meron din sa chics nya, wala naman po syang fever. could it be possible na tigdas po iyon? dadalhin ko naman po sya sa clinic bukas to make sure kung tigdas nga. ano po ba ang dapat kong gawin kase sobrang worried na ko sa baby ko, 1 whole week na syang may sakit dahil naman sa pneumonia nya na katatapos lang din nya ng medication. thanks po!

I hope you've gotten the chance to bring your baby to the pedia by now and is getting better already. Really sorry, but only your pedia can give the official diagnosis if it is tigdas hangin or not since she is the one who is able to get a thorough history and is able to perform a complete physical examination.
Since your baby has had 1 infection after another, then it would be best to strengthen his immune system by giving him adequate water and good nutrition. Also, make sure to have his bedroom thoroughly cleaned. Have all the bed sheets and pillow cases washed and ironed to prevent further spread of infection.

Pasensya na, but it would be irresponsible for me to offer you a diagnosis without a proper history and physical examination. Please bring your child to the pedia for proper diagnosis. There are a lot of causes of fever and rashes plus there are lots of types of rashes.

pasensya na po hindi ko po alam na bawal ang textspeak dito. bago lang po ako dito gumawa po ako ng account para po magtanong about sa condition ng baby ko kasi po nagsesearch po ako ng mga symptoms about sa sakit nya nilagnat po kasi siya paguwi galing ng school nung wednesday lastweek po  tapos nung pinacheckup namin sya nung thursday morning check po ng cbc nya with platelet count normal po sa urinalysis nya lumabas uti po. so binigyan po sya ng antibiotic nung saturday morning nung pinaihi ko po siya napansin ko po ang mga rashes sa dibdib niya papuntang shoulder wala na po siyang lagnat nun. tapos nung hapon nilagnat po siya so pnacheckup namin pinacheck ulit ng doctor yung cbc niya with platelet count. normal parin po ang resulta ang sabi po ng doctor niya viral infection lang daw po yung dumapo sakanya tapos itong tuesday lang po wala na po syang lagnat hangang ngayon po at wala narin po syang rashes. kaya po naisip ko na tigdas hangin nga po siguro yung sakit na dumapo sakanya kasi ang sabi po ng doctor hindi po tigdas dahil wala po syang lymph nodes. salamat po.

If it is tigdas hangin kasi, dapat hindi na siya nilagnat nung lumabas yung rashes. With tigdas hangin, usually 3 days fever, 3 days rashes. Might be a different viral exanthem though.

hello... i know this thread is in childbirth and childcare however when i saw the topic i couldn't help but inquire regarding my co-worker's case.

we're both in our thirties. he was on leave for 2weeks. as per his friends/other colleagues he went to the hospital somewhere in cavite  but was dismissed and sent home. his reason for his leave was he has "tigdas". he went back to the hospital but this time in makati med. i think he was confined last wednesday at the said hosp. the following day he passed away.

personally i do not have an idea that "tigdas" can be deadly among adults so if there's someone who can enlighten me about it, please do. TIA

Sorry to hear about the loss of your office mate. Were you able to confirm if the cause of his hospitalization was indeed due to the measles infection?
Unfortunately, Measles or tigdas is a highly contagious disease and prone to complications, not only in young infants but also in unvaccinated adults, which is why the DOH is pushing for measles vaccination.
The measles virus can cause a lowering of your immune resistance, making the patient susceptible to other infections such as diarrhea, pneumonia, encephalitis, etc.
If you haven't gotten the MMR vaccine yet, please make sure you get the required 2 doses ( in adults, it can be given at least 3 months apart), not only to protect yourself from the measles virus, but also to protect your future babies from the congenital rubella syndrome in case you get exposed to someone with German measles while you are pregnant.

im so worried for my 2 year old right now. Monday ok na ok pa siya. Then Tuesday around 2am nagkafever na sya, 38. 5C. In the morning tumaas na sa 39. He responds naman sa paracetamol but the fever returns to the 38.8 to 39+ range after 4 hours. According to his pedia, observe daw muna 2-3 days dahil baka viral lang. I noticed too that my son breathes through his mouth and parang may traces ng sipon sa nose. Its not runny though, kaya baka and hopefully sipon lang. Ang temperament nya is ok, kumakain, dumedede, still maintained his usual level of activity. Still, its so depressing maghintay ng hindi alam kung ano ang sakit ng baby. Yung magka-fever ang baby ko ng nasa 39 range is unlike him. This is the first time na umabot sya sa ganun kataas na fever.

thanks for the reply. as per the hospital, he died because of the "tigdas" complications. di ko nabasa yun report pero as per kwento i think nagkaron sya ng complications like pneumonia and hemorrhage. kasi sa kwento ng officemates namin, while in the hosp may blood na daw lumalabas sa ears and di na daw makapagsalita since ubo na ng ubo. namamaga na rin ang katawan and dila.

He may have had a severe form of the measles infection, leading to respiratory and hemorrhagic complications. Measles kasi can lead to DIC and bleeding complications if his immune system was weakened by the infection. Again, sorry for your loss.

There are a lot of viral infections going around nowadays so your pedia is right that it might be a viral infection. Do not be afraid of fever since fever is actually an immune response which means the body is doing something to fight the infection. Since he is breathing through his mouth, that means his nose is congested which is why there is no runny nose. Please bring him to his pedia for a check up so that proper supportive measures may be instituted.

Hi to everyone, Im now a mother with a very sweet son. Now he's suffering with this "Tigdas-Hangin", and actually this is his second time to have this viral infection. It was started when he was 1yr old now he is turning 3 and yet he still have this viral infection. It means na pwede pala pabalik balik yun viral na to kasi ganun din ako may viral infection din. There are numerous types of viral exanthem so it is possible for 1 patient to develop more than 1 type of viral exanthem with a different virus causing it.
Cause of viral infections? Nahawa siya from someone who has it. Strict hand washing and frequent baths should be instituted at all times.
Also, for parents, please do not let your child go to school if she or he has an infection or fever to prevent spread of infection.

after having a high fever at humupa na, this day, the nanny told me na may red spots na lumalabas sa katawan ni baby. Two days ago, the doctor told me na if ever rashes appeared, dont panic at tigdas hangin nga daw po ito. karamihan din kasi sa mga pasyente niya ay nakakaranas nito. Doc, hayaan ko lang po diba na humupa ang rashes without doing anything like punasan with cloth ang skin ni baby? appreciate your reply. thanks in advance.

^ If it is tigdas hangin, it will resolve on its' own without any intervention. Do not constantly rub her skin as this may cause irritation. Instead, you can give her a short bath (please do not be afraid to give her a bath since baths are needed for good hygiene/cleansing of the skin and it makes the infection go away faster) and then moisturize her skin after the bath with a non - irritating fragrance free lotion to lessen irritation and itch. You can giver her a bath 2 to 3x a day.

after the red spots appeared in his face and some parts of his body, ngayon as of my observation ay humuhupa na po ito ng bahagya. i followed what you said na no need to rub anything on his skin, instead pabayaan lang na ganon at paliguan lang. may mga pula sa pisngi pero nawawala na ito ng dahan dahan. salamat po doc.
