^^the usual be careful sa pagpili ng WC :) yung iba kasi andami tapos wala naman gagawin ang iba... tapos as much as possible yung mga iaassign sa pagbabayad ng suppliers and bilang ng gifts iassign sa relatives talaga...

^ you said it sis! At the preps of one my brides, yung WC nakaupo lang at nanood ng tv. Sayang di ko natanong yung name nila. hay... i wanted to spray her face with hairspray para tumayo siya sa inuupuan niya. heehee... I'm bad!

Ask friends whose wedding you liked and ask about their coordinator. :) Maganda kung may reference na

^ ako nahihiya ako pag wala akong ginagawa.. pero kasi minsan, we arrive so early sa preps naayos na namin lahat.. and some photographers they don't like na parang may anino na sunod ng sunod sa kanila.. they will ask naman kung may kailangan sila eh..pag feeling ko wala na kami ginagawa, naghahanap kami ng gagawin...haha! kaya hindi rin talaga advisable na maraming coordinators sa hotel.. kasi nakakasikip lang sa room, tas hindi naman ganon karami ang ginagawa.. unless nag-cram ang couple at maraming last minute tasks...

sis qtpurple - ang masasabi ko lang, what happened to your brother's wedding, might be totally different from what's gonna happen on your wedding.. It could be an isolated issue di ba.. kaya maghanap ka sis ng team na mapapagkatiwalaan talaga.. the gifts, dapat yan may inventory.. may number bawat isa.. ang payments, should be kept by someone you trust, tapos lalapit na lang coord niyo sa "treasurer" pag need na bayaran ang suppliers.. or pag may babayaran ang supplier, the WC will just supervise pero ang "treasurer" mo pa rin ang mag-aabot ng pera... isa pa, hindi mo na dapat banyatan ang WC.. mauubos ang oras ang effort mo sa bagay na to imbes na magfocus ka na lang sa wedding niyo... kasi you'll know naman from the outcome of your event if they did a good job or not...

during my wedding, wala akong WC :) hehe pero my partner and other GT friends were there as guests.. but I didn't ask them to do a thing for the wedding.. ooops meron pala, hehe sila nag-registration pero unsuccessful yun dahil si MIL eh pinaupo sila at wag na daw mag-registration siya na raw bahala sa upuan ng relatives nila.. I needed I just call her and she has it.

Im a 2013 bride, as long as the wedding is more than a year pwedeng wala ng coordinator. On the wedding day itself, a good friend volunteered to be our coordinator. She is not part of my wedding entourage to focus on her work. She will be the team lead to instruct or to remind or my family of their assignments. She just requested a hotel room the day before the wedding and a car plus driver of course on the day itself so that she is mobile.

hi sisses! pasali sa thread.
based lang sa mga wedding that i already attended to and helped organized. very very important ang mga On-the-day coordinator. well i guess makakaya na ng bride and groom ang pre-wedding, pero yung OTD, dapat may ma-assign sila. If on tight budget, pwede mag-ask ng very committed friend to do the OTD. very committed meaning talagang naka-focus sya sa role nya as coordinator. You must have series of meetings with her and other OTD-friends before the wedding, not on the wedding day.
I discourage din kunin OTD-WC ang mga nasa entourage, I'm guilty with that! hehe... first time a friend asked me to help coordinating and I'm one of the bridesmaid.. ayun, i focus more on how i look rather than how the wedding looks.. hehe.. and ang hirap kumilos kapag naka-gown ah.

Based on my experience:
3.  1 week before the wedding need makapagset ka ng meeting for your suppliers.  Ibigay mo na rin sa OTD mo yung CD, (AVP) CD (reception songs), guestbook with pen, guest list with table assignments, list of single ladies and men, invitation/rsvp,  games props and prize (kung meron games) misalettes, reception program, reception layout, payment to suppliers (better kung check).
5.  Double check the items for church and reception venue.

Church
1.  Check the choir, priest and yung flowers
2.  Distribute flowers, misalettes and cue roles (moh, mob, mog, ps, ss etc)
3.  Yung nakatoka sa offer dapat sa likuran nakaupo.
4.  Don’t forget to bring a ballpen hehe
6.  Bigyan mo ng list yung OTD mo ng pictorial sequence.
7.  Inform ang mga abay na sila magsasaboy ng petals sa labas ng church just listen to photographer's instruction.

VENUE:
1.   2 hours before the wedding alam ko  gantong time nagsesetup yung caterer idouble check na lang yung venue, caterer, cake, light and sounds, event stylist, and yung souveniers iayos na rin.  Ask mo din kung what time sila matatapos.
2.   During church pictorial yung 2 coordinator diretso na agad sa venue for guest and gift registration.
3.  Dapat meron copy lahat ng suppliers mo ng reception program.
4.  Assist newlywed in their postnuptial photoshoot, retouch time etc
5.  Assemble entourage for grand entrance.
7.  Assist the host in reception program
13.  Assist din ang couple for table picture taking.
14.  Ipaikot ang guestbook.
15.  Distribute souveniers and ps gifts
16.  Ensure suppliers deliver per contract.
16.  Endorse all materials to couple.

Isip pa ako sis pag may naalala ako. Happy preps!  Sorry naman napahaba ;D

^ sis piatos, thank you very much sa pagprovide sakin ng list! sobrang laking help talaga nun. so based from what you wrote dapat yata di lang isa ang OTD coordinator ko 'no? mga 2 or 3 friends/relatives siguro ang kailangan kong iask to make sure na magagawa lahat ng required tasks. :)

sis, i think need 5 or more coordinator kasi shock absorber sila ng couple.

Kami ng husband ko, we planned the wedding more than a year kaya marami pa oras. My friend even offered to act as my coordinator during the event.

Pero kapag kausap ko friends and colleagues ko na bagong kasal, isa lang ang unang advice nila: get a coordinator hehe. So we did.  Kiss the girls events. Kahit na nung last meeting namen e nasstress ata si Abby saken kasi wala ako tanong for her at nagawa na namen yung mga to do list nya, d ako nagsisisi na kumuha kami. Kasi on the day itself, ang laki ng tulong nila. After all, it's your day. kahit yung on the day lang, malaki na malilift na burden sa couple.

weigh the pros and cons :) may mga friends/relatives tayo na talento talaga nila ang pagiging organized so pwede talagang isabak. but then, parang katulad ng kukuha ka ng professional WC, need mo din ilaan ang time mo na i-meet sila to discuss what they will do on your day. hindi pwedeng madalian lang. i'd like to share this article (part of it) with you. baka makatulong :)

{Why Hire a Wedding Planner}
I don’t need a wedding planner because….

… I can’t afford a planner.  It’s just not in my budget ~ Think about the amount of money you allocate to feeding your guests, hiring the photographer to take the perfect photos, picking a DJ that will get the party started, yet couples tend to skimp when it comes to hiring a planner that will orchestrate the whole day!  It’s like having a car and all the passengers but no driver (or GPS)!  So why stop at hiring the planner.  In reality a planner can SAVE YOU MONEY & TIME!  Planners have relationships with vendors and venues since they work on many weddings not just one, so they can give you economies of scale.  They can also help you put together a realistic budget.  In the end the money and time saved might be greater than the cost of the planner, so you basically got the planner for FREE!

… I have family and friends who have volunteered to help me day-of.  It should be fine! ~ While this is a nice gesture, unless your family member is a professional event planner, I’m pretty sure it won’t be fine.  They are your guests and should not be working on your wedding day.  They will be so preoccupied with socializing, drinking a little too much champagne, ooh’ing and ahh’ing over how beautiful you look, taking hundreds of photos, and not focused on the important details that make the event run smoothly.  They will not be informed on important decisions (i.e. telling the catering manager that although the bar tab has been exceed you insist the bride and groom said its fine to keep it open, leaving the couple with a few thousand dollars more to pay).

… The venue coordinator & catering manager assured me that I don’t need to hire a planner because they can handle it. ~ All I have to say is read Leila’s article above.  The bottom line: venue coordinators are there because they are hired by the venue to maintain and manage the venue only (i.e. food, rentals, staff, etc…).  They work for the venue and not for you.  Their main goal is to ensure the facility runs smoothly.  So if you arrive and all your flower arrangements are wrong and the guests can’t figure out where they are supposed to sit, don’t look at the venue coordinator to help you out because they won’t have any idea on what you wanted.

… Shouldn’t the vendors be able to manage themselves since they work weddings all the time? ~ According to feedback from vendors I have worked with, I have heard more times than not, there is a huge difference between a wedding with a planner vs. one without / with a venue coordinator.  Not only are the finishing touches and design usually better but also the flow of the event and communication between the parties (i.e. the photographer will be ready for photos and not out in the cocktail area when the DJ plays the song for the Grand Entrance because the coordinator will have given both a warning).  Although it’s your day, think about the vendors you have hired.  What will help make both your lives and their lives easier?  A wedding planner!

… I read all the magazines and blogs.  I have all the resources I need.  I don’t want a wedding planner to take away the fun of planning my wedding! ~ When you first get engaged, wedding planning is a novelty.  You buy every magazine and bookmark every blog out there to help plan your big day.  However, with hundreds of wedding blogs, magazines, photographers, videographers, venues, etc… it can get overwhelming and stressful trying to narrow down who/what is the best fit for your style, budget and needs.  Once the wedding comes the couple is so worn out with decisions that the process is no longer fun.  Wedding planners do this every day will help bring you the resources that best fit your needs to that you can ENJOY the planning process until the end!  They are educated and knowledgeable in all things wedding related from etiquette to getting a marriage license and are a huge accessible resource!

… My family & friends want to help me with the planning process ~ Except when your future mother-in-law has a completely different vision for her son’s wedding and your brother insists that his heavy metal band play a medley at your reception and your parents decide to invite all their friends as if it was their party.  Think “My Big Fat Greek Wedding.”  You need a MEDIATOR.  A planner is a good third-party mediator in tricky family situations.  It is impossible to please everyone; however, at least a planner can give an unbiased opinion to help navigate problems.

sis qtpurple - ang masasabi ko lang, what happened to your brother's wedding, might be totally different from what's gonna happen on your wedding.. It could be an isolated issue di ba.. kaya maghanap ka sis ng team na mapapagkatiwalaan talaga.. the gifts, dapat yan may inventory.. may number bawat isa.. ang payments, should be kept by someone you trust, tapos lalapit na lang coord niyo sa "treasurer" pag need na bayaran ang suppliers.. or pag may babayaran ang supplier, the WC will just supervise pero ang "treasurer" mo pa rin ang mag-aabot ng pera... isa pa, hindi mo na dapat banyatan ang WC.. mauubos ang oras ang effort mo sa bagay na to imbes na magfocus ka na lang sa wedding niyo... kasi you'll know naman from the outcome of your event if they did a good job or not...

yes sis tama ka isolated issue and depende talaga yun sa WC na ma-hire natin .. wow galing naman sa church nyo sis .. very helpful sila .. kakatuwa naman!

ngayon 1 month to go na lang big day na .. kun nun una eh parang nagdadalawang isip ako kumuha ng WC ngayon sure na gusto ko ng kumuha .. kasi kahit super hands tayo sa wedding at madaming gustong tumulong andun pa rin kaba na what if ganito mangyari what if ganyan .. kaya ngayon on search ako ng WC most ng natanungan ko e hindi na available .. gusto ko stress free ako sa wedding day namin gusto ko mag enjoy mga friends and relatives ko .. kaya para mas maging maayos yun wedding natin at bridechilla tayo eh kahit OTD keri na .. medyo ngarag na sa ngayon .. hayz!

happy preps .. :)
