Hi mga sisses,

I want to start doing yoga too, what do you recommend I invest in (equipment) before I go to the yoga studio? I'm planning to try ananda marga coz it's near my place, do I go there first then just buy my stuff after I've enrolled?

Thanks!

Thanks payroll_lady! Will try to drop by Shang this weekend. : )

flatfooted, do try Ananda Marga! Super love this yoga studio. Mahima's class (every Thurs evening) is good for beginners. I also enjoy the sessions with Anandi and Lokesh.

^dilemma ko rin yan. My 3 month unli is about to expire in a few days. I plan on getting the 6 month unli pero yun nga lang, medyo masakit sa bulsa na 6k agad ang bayad.  :-\

You don't have to get an expensive mat. Para if ever you decide not to pursue practicing yoga, hindi nakakapanghinayang. Ako the one I have now ay pinamana lang ng sister ko na hindi na nagyoyoga. Ito yung mga P300+ lang.

I'm loving yoga so much that I plan on practicing it until old age. Hehe.

^^DV, been browsing yoga videos/channels on youtube lately and so far I like yogatic's videos. Good for beginners like me. Simple at malinaw magpaliwanag and she (Esther Ekhart) provides the alternative/easier version of poses that might be hard for some to do.

Anyway, ano favorite asana ninyo? And also, which asana do you (still) have a hard time doing and would like to work on?

Sa ngayon, favorite ko ang wheel. Most of the asanas I still find hard to execute, lalo na yung may mga twist. I still need to work on opening up my shoulders. Also arm strength. I'm working on the downward facing dog-chaturanga-upward facing dog sequence. Ang hirap nung chaturanga/low plank! Hassle sa masel! Lol.

^Thanks, gulaysk! :)

Have you seen any of the Yoga Today videos?

May ginawa kaming pose sa class last time, hindi ko alam ang tawag--the head and the thighs/knees are touching (feet in the air), basta so curled up hindi ako makahinga. I didn't like that at all.

^^ thanks for the yogatic recommendation, I was just searching for good yoga videos today.

On difficult asanas- I have been practising on and off for a while, but I still cannot do chaturanga and wheel. While I found myself improving in other poses over time (e.g. birds of paradise, crow, pigeon), there are a few poses that feel impossible to do. I wonder if anyone here has difficulty with chaturanga and wheel, it looks relatively easy for most people.

gulaysk- haven't been back to ananda. tinatapos ko un sa yoga studio. gusto ko itry un kay mahima. nag peak pose na ba sila dun?

mahirap ang chaturanga sa totoo lang. activate the core and of course ang arm strength.

been practicing hand stand and head stand for a month na. i started sa may wall para safe then today was able to do it on my own. hirap but worth it. i enjoy doing crane and scale pose.

^^lavieenrose and bump, I think I still have a looong way to go before I can do the crane, headstand and handstand. Kailangan ng masugid na pagpractice!

Hi sisses! I really really want to try Yoga. I just wanted to ask, if walk-in session lang ba ako, do i need to buy my own mat already? And do I still have to contact the studio for appointment or anything o pwedeng bigla bigla nalang ako susulpot dun? I know the sched of sessions since it's posted on their site naman.  :) tia!

^^bump salamat sa encouraging words! Sana maachieve ko na ang mga yan by the end of the year. I think part of being able to do those poses is also overcoming fear--lalo na sa pagsubsob, like you said.

Go, mga kapatid! Practice on, sabi nga. : )

to gibberish.: it depends on the studio :) Some studios have free mats already, some have mats for rent. Where do you plan to go? Better call the studio nalang to make sure. :)
