Hi sisses. How are you holding up? I posted here 6 or 7 months ago. Mostly rants about my career. I finally got promoted last November. 4 years kong inantay!

Naka-get over nako sa "marriage" issue. I would probably do the same. I'll be turning 29 this year, though takot akong manganak ulit, gusto ko naman magkaron ng kapatid yung anak ko pero hindi namin kaya.

My son will soon start his schooling by 2014, at the same time, pagaaralin ko na ng college yung sister ko (breadwinner ako).

Hindi ako makuntento. :(

count me in. :/

I can't go solo or independent because I am still taking care of my parents and the assets.

Starting to become bore in my current office jobs that I have been working for 4 years. Its my comfort zone, so I feel that I am taking it for granted. Not so productive. But I am happy with the environments and the people I am with.

Still has no boyfriend.

Physical insecurities.. that "what if" questions. :/ I know I need to take risk to love and be loved but I am so scared to be rejected with not knowing my real personality. I think I am not ugly .. but not that confident with my own skin. I love myself naman.. I am trying to improve myself better... but the problem is I get too attach to someone so easily. :/ and when I feel sad ... I eat ... eat ... eat... hence weight gain.... so feeling down because of weight naman? haha :/

Passive friends. they're all busy making money. I also do but they are so hard to reach out? or our schedules do not meet.

What else.. should I say. :/

Are you in a rut? Is it time to take life into your own hands? Are you ready take a time out to find yourself, and start over?

Are you 25?

It may be your quarter-life crisis knocking, say psychologists studying the phenomenon of 25–35-year-olds having a come-to-Jesus about where they’re going in life after having barely left the starting gates.Given the ambitious list of life to-dos many not-yet-disillusioned people give themselves (build killer start-up, and nab the corner office, and travel the world, and have kids, and be faithful to childhood dreams), it’s probably not too surprising that the phenomenon seems to be widespread among a certain class of people. Let’s come right out and say that like affluenza, this is not likely to be a problem outside the wealthier parts of the world.

In a study presented at the British Psychological Society meeting this week, researchers distilled the five key phases of the quarter-life crisis (via New Scientist) from a survey of 50 volunteers who’d had them:

Phase 1 – A feeling of being trapped by your life choices. Feeling as though you are living your life on autopilot.
Phase 2 – A rising sense of “I’ve got to get out” and the feeling that you can change your life.
Phase 3 – Quitting the job or relationship or whatever else is making you feel trapped and embarking on a “time out” period where you try out new experiences to find out who you want to be.
Phase 4 – Rebuilding your life.
Phase 5 – Developing new commitments more attuned to your interests and aspirations.

Having a quarter-life crisis may be a good thing: 80% of the respondents said that the experience turned out to be positive. And having your crisis early might keep you from having one when you turn fifty, after the rift between what you always wanted to do (be a chef! Write a novel!) and what you wound up doing (tax law! Wealth management!) has grown far vaster, researchers suggest. More studies are certainly in order, even if we have to wait 25 years for a progress report.

Are you at risk for a quarter-life crisis? The researchers say that idealists who also want to achieve conventional success—marriage, children, corner office—seem to be the population most affected. So examine thyself. Is a crisis in order?

I have read that article a few years back when I was in a situation where I really don't know what I want. I do not know where my life is heading. Yes, I had a job back then but it seems that nothings matters, like everything is non sense. And i also felt then that parang napag-iwanan ako. I don't know.

Pero when I came across that article, it made me realize myself.

i think it was quarter life crisis for me when i felt so behind in terms of career as compared to my friends. i had to study again because i didn't like the course i graduated from. i studied again and that took me 2 years to finish. plus 1 year for apprenticeship that paid so little. while everyone was being promoted to assistant manager or supervisor there i was doing what could be compared to college practicum. honestly, i got really insecure with my friends at some point. but that was my choice, so i had to stand by it. also, it really felt like quarter life crisis when i had a frustrating dating life. i mean, one paasa guy after another.

we have to go through this quarter life crisis to realize things about ourselves. it's inevitably going to end anyways. it helps a lot if you're going through this phase with friends who understand. it makes the journey a bit lighter. and after a couple of years, when you look back at it sometimes you'll say to yourself "parang ang babaw lang naman nun" compared to your post-quarter life crisis problems.

^hello sis, thanks for sharing that blog. :)

i think i'm experiencing quarter life crisis as well kasi  i'm so confused kung ano ba talaga ang gagawin ko sa buhay ko. i thought of being a stock trader, i attended some seminars regarding this profession. tapos i trained as a financial advisor (i'm licensed na rin), i thought i could be good at it kasi interesting sya nung una pero nung huli parang ayoko pala. i set up my own website kasi siguro blogging is for me kasi i love reading blogs and i spend almost all of my waking hours online. i spent many weeks researching about home decors etc kasi i was inspired by the "design stars" sa tv, feeling ko ok maging isang designer ng bahay. tapos i researched a hell lot about philippine history at archaeology kasi dream ko maging archaeologist nung high school. feeling ko ito ang magbibigay sakin ng totoong contentment. i want to be remembered as an archaeologist pero parang panaginip lang talaga to.  ewan ko rin, baka daydream lang ito. tapos a friend contacted me and presented me a business plan kuno and i agreed to join pero di nagmaterialize. this year i'm thinking of taking law entrance exams, gusto ko naman maging lawyer ngayon, para sa nanay ko. at this year, gusto ko rin makigulo sa farm sa probinsya, baka sakaling yun pala ang hilig ko. ang gulo ng isip ko. haha

i thought of quitting my job many times na pero di ko magawa dahil sa good pay at magaan na trabaho. kaya lang, parang mababaliw na ko sa pagkabagot.

im 25. quarter life crisis nga ito. super. :<

Aww, same here, same here! I just turned 23 recently, but I've experienced QLC thrice already --when I was straight out of college, after resigning from my first job, and now that I just resigned from my second job. What stresses me out is that I don't really know what I wanted to pursue in life (very evident with my work history). While most of my classmates are already successful in their respective fields, here I am, still trying to figure things out. Oh life!

i am experiencing this right now and i'm twenty five. i don't know where my life is heading. i've read from an online article before about QLC  that it usually stems from lack of meaningful work. i couldn't agree more. i guess i am experiencing this because i am unhappy with my job which i put up with to pay the bills. it is easy to say 'if you don't like your work, then quit, find another...' but truth be told, it's not as easy as it sounds in today's reality, is it? and if there might be other jobs, they don't pay as good to enable you to travel, invest, etc that would truly make you feel you are accomplishing something in your life. i guess i am setting my life with the wrong standard.

I'm 28. I don't remember if naranasan ko na to when I was 25. I was already pregnant that time so yung baby ko lang ang nasa isip ko lagi that time. =)

Now that I'm 28 andami ko nang iniisip. I want to resign and become a housewife. I want to o back to our province and dun na mag stay for good.

^ You don't have a husband ba?  Just asking kasi you want to go to the province and you did not mention if your husband will go with you.  Normal naman yata yan lalo na if you are not happy with your work.  And you are not sure about your direction.  Siguro swerte lang that i found my passion.

I'm 25 and I'm experiencing this na talaga. Gusto ko mag-aral ule. Gusto ko mag-resign. Parang di ko alam what I really want. I have to figure things out pa parang ganon. I want to know what's out there for me pero hinde ko naman pwede basta basta magawa ang pareresign because breadwinner ako and my family's needs first before mine. I lack motivation. Iniisip ko na lang talaga na I'm doing this to support my family. Pero yung self fulfillment ko to do what I really want parang di ko na magagawa kasi I have bills to pay kung uunahin ko yung sarili ko paano naman ang pamilya ko.

I feel you mga sis. I felt the same way last year. I'm also 25 going 26 this year, breadwinner, I also want to resign (which I did last quarter) from my previous company (because I'm bored and no clear plans about my life), and lastly, I also want to study again.

In times of lost and depression, I constantly pray, pray, pray. I never missed Sunday mass, dito ako nagrerecharge. Through prayers I found peace, and with peace I found myself being more focus on what I do. I now also saw opportunities na dati di ko nakikita.

Just continue praying mga sis, don't lose hope. The Lord will not leave you nor forsake you. He is good, all the time! :) Just keep moving forward!

I felt this before I decided to become a WAHM. I was in a job that really pays the bills (and more), but I was no longer happy with it. There was room for growth yes, but at that time, I feel in my heart that that place of work was not where I wanted to 'grow'. I dragged myself to work every single day, and it's not just because I missed my daughter who I had to leave at home with the yaya - it was because I didn't see anything to look forward to where I was going. I had to go to work because, well, I just had to go to work. That was really how I felt.

The decision to resign was both difficult and easy at the same time. It was easy to say "AYOKO NAAAAA!!!!" but it was hard to finally decide to completely let go. True, I already had an online job then na puedeng source of income, pero I won't even earn half of what I was earning sa current job ko noon. And I'd lose all the other benefits, medical, bonuses, social life, etc. etc. What really helped me go through making the difficult decision was yung support ni hubby.

Now, three years after resigning, I'm doing what I love to do. And although hindi pa din madali ang trabaho, I really really enjoy what I'm doing to the point na namimiss ko pa pag wala akong ginagawa. :) And yeah, we don't get to travel, we don't have a lot of cash, we don't get to buy the latest gadgets, we don't get to go the best restaurants, we can't afford all the other 'extras' in life we could have had if I was still in that job I left. But, we were able to make small investments for the family, isa-isa nga lang. Pero meron. We learned to value the simple and more important things in life. I got to be with my daughter from 8 months old onward (mag-four na sya this year). I think I gained more 'life essentials' when I resigned. :)

Kumbaga, once ma-acknowledge mo yung lack of direction, that would motivate you to actually strive to have bigger goals. Hindi magiging madali, sacrifices may have to be made. Pero the sacrifices will definitely be worth it. Times like these, super importante din ng may support system, na hopefully you can get from your families. :) And like sis Superjoie said, pray pray pray. Pray as in talk to God, talk to Him like humihingi ka ng advice sa friend mo. He's always ready to give you an answer, tayo lang naman ang hinihintay Nya na lumapit sa Kanya. :)

Nice post sis!!
I pray harder for more guidance & strength. I always remember this  motivational quote " God gave me serenity to accept things that I can't change, courage to change things that I can and wisdom to know the difference".
Wisdom is a must din po talaga. Sometimes we want to realize what's our will but it's contrary to what God had planned for us.
I'll just put in my what was stated in Jeremiah 29:11. With that verse I know God has made something for me though even now i can't understand sometimes but still we must trust Him.

Well I'm 24 when I undergo Open Heart Surgery that cause us pra mangutang. After a year nakarecover naman kami since back to work naman ako after 5months lang.

Pero dipa settled lahat, I got pregnant naman so gastos nanaman buti nalang my long time bf eh with stable ang good paying job naman. Sabi ni OB kylangan namin magprepare ng 100k. Iba pa yung weekly check up and ultrasounds. But then, nag-emergency cs pa ako so inabot ng 140k..last minute nakautang tuloy kami 50k.

He is 26 na and I am 25 coincidence kaya? ;D
