i was diagnosed w/ pcos 4th yr hs. now im 27. 11 yrs w/ pcos. 3 to 4 months usually delay ng menses ko. most pcos patients are on the heavier side and have hirsutism. luckily,im only 43kg. but i have an oily, acne-prone skin, caused by high androgen levels, a symptom in pcos. i've been to 3 obgyne. they prescribed the usual meds. in my 10yrs of having pcos, nasubukan ko na ang maraming gamot. as prescribed, na-try ko na diane, metformin, provera. sa pills, nareregulate naman pero once i stop, delayed na uli ako.
im a registered nurse, i know that synthetic pills have some serious side effects especially to long term users. so i searched for alternatives. i came across this site
http://www.ovarian-cysts-pcos.com. they advocate a safer, natural approach to treating pcos, such as
saw palmetto,
vitex,
acupuncture,
stress management, along w/
proper exercise and diet, less sugar and refined carbs (since most pcos patients have insulin resistance). another remedy they recommend is
natural progesterone cream, because in pcos, progesterone level is low while estrogen and androgens are high, w/c causes disruption in the menstrual cycle. (for more details about progesterone and pcos, check
http://www.ovarian-cysts-pcos.com/progesterone.html).
i've done research, sa ibang countries pala like usa, natural progesterone cream is preferred in hormone therapy for post-menopausal and also pcos patients. progesterone is manufactured from diosgenin, found in mexican wild yam and also from soybeans. it is converted to bioidentical progesterone in the lab. why natural progesterone cream and not the oral synthetic progesterone? Accdg to Dr. John Lee, a pioneer in natural hormone therapy, 80% to 90% of the oral dose is lost through the liver. Thus, at least 200 to 400 mg of progesterone is needed orally to achieve a
recommended dose of 15 to 24 mg daily. Such high doses create undesirable metabolites and unnecessarily overload the liver. In contrast, natural progesterone cream of about ¼ teaspoon daily applied on the body would provide about
20 mg/day. It allows you to get a dose of progesterone that is close to what your body would be making naturally. Also, side effects from progesterone cream are minimal. (

dito sa pinas, traditional method pa rin tayo.. synthetic pills. i've asked my ob if she's familiar w/ progesterone cream. hindi daw. estrogen cream ang alam lang nya. tinanong nya sa akin anung gagawin ko sa progesterone cream, i just said hindi para sa akin, kundi sa mother ko na menopausal.hehe. baka magalit kasi kung malaman nyang im using other meds w/o consulting her. but i still took the risk. i searched for a store which sells them locally. i found only a few..
healthy options, and online seller
shopwiser. i tried the cream. it's effective. i've been a user for 8 months. monthly na period ko. magpapa-ultrasound uli ako maybe next month to check if i still have those follicular cysts. i also wanna try acupuncture. i heard it helps pcos women as well as women who are trying to conceive.
napahaba kwento ko

pero i hope this post will make other women aware that there are natural alternatives in treating pcos. i wish i could also find a doctor who advocates it.
