Hi sis! The "cysts" formed are not cysts per se, they are only egg cells that have not been released kaya naiipon lang, hence the term "poly". Regarding your backpain and continuous white discharge, better consult an OB if they are really bothersome. :)

I was diagnosed with POS too, I had to undergo a series of tests and ultra sound yesterday at Medical City. I'm a bit nervous that I might be asked for my OB to undergo surgery. :(

Please tell me if this means na I would have a low chance / no chance at all to have kids.

^ Sis very rare na kelangan i-surgery. Usually pills lang kelangan for that. :)

Mahihirapan ka magbuntis pero it's not impossible naman.

hi

I was diagnosed with PCOS din 5 years ago. I took pills pero when I stopped I was hoping mareregulate na period ko, pero sabi ng OB polycystic na polycystic daw ako.
Now that I want to have a baby, I already started with my work up. There are chances naman for pregnancy pero it will take some time kasi may medications to take and check ups.
1st time ko magtake nung ovamit and okay naman response ng katawan ko. Praying na sana, maging success.
Proper diet lang din for PCOS and exercise, aside from the meds. :)

I was diagnosed (last month) with PCOS, too.. And so are my two older sisters. My oldest sister conceived after 7 years of trying.. as in nagpalipat-lipat na sya ng OB.. my other sister is still childless. she's been married for 5 years now.. and sana magkababy na sila ng hubby niya. I am taking Althea.. so far effective naman siya. after 1 pack of birth control pills, nagmensis naman ako.. i am planning to continue taking the pill para hindi ko na problema ang monthly period ko..

I was also diagnosed with PCOS after I stopped having my monthly period. Pero dahil din daw sa overweight ako that's why I have PCOS, kasi nga may imbalance din with hormones. I was told na mag-take ng Metformin dahil Insulin-resistant din ako. Pero the key to getting my regular period daw is still losing weight.

Fats ba talaga nag-c-cause ng PCOS?

Any feedbacks on this?

PCOS is not caused by fats but having PCOS and being fat aggravates the effects of PCOS such as diabetes and infertility.

^My ob told me that to regulate my periods, I should lose the weight. My endocrinologist naman who diagnosed me with insulin resistance (which is caused din by the PCOS) told me that the IR makes it harder for me to lose the weight.

And when I lost about 40 pounds, my period also visited more regularly. I haven't taken any other drug aside from metformin.

The cause of PCOS is unknown. But it is theorized that genetics and insulin sensitivity (related to Diabetes) are highly linked to its cause.

Thanks... I've been wondering where I got it from. My mom has had a thyroid imbalance since she was young. She's had irregular periods too. I got checked to see if I was hypo kasi nga I was sooo fat back then. Then the doc diagnosed me with PCOS.

OT: Tabain talaga akong bata and I was never the really energetic type, although I played a lot of takbuhan and other physically-demanding games. And even though I was fat, I was really good with habulan, chinese garter and the likes. During my puberty years, takang-taka mga tao pag kalaro na nila ako because I could outrun or outplay most of them...but I still steadily gained weight. Bakit kaya?

There could be a lot of causes. It may be genetic but you can break that aspect when it comes to being overweight. It may be the PCO and it could still be your thyroid imbalance.

Like I previously said, I was diagnosed with PCO. During therapy with my OB I grew to almost 140lbs. I shifted to BHRT, now I'm 105lbs.

How do OB's diagnose PCOS? I've never been to an OB before but I suspect I have Hormonal Imbalance coz' I have symptoms like irregular menstruation, acne (that won't go away even if I've been to several dermas already). I made a little research online and I fear na baka may PCOS din ako which is a symptom of Hormonal Imbalance. Ano ba gagawin ng OB sa iyo? Blood Tests? Ultrasound? Physical Examination? I just want to know what to expect when I go to the OB. Thanks!

^Ako pina-ultrasound ng ob gyne and then blood tests for hormones like insulin, fasting blood sugar etc.  You better have it checked na rin. :)
