TAKING UP MASTER'S DEGREE

Hi mga gurlz, plan ko rin and may friend to take up Masters in BA sa PUP Manila this next semester (Nov), may tanong lang ako pag malapit na gumraduate sa Masters automatic ba yung magtuturo ka sa mga estudyante sa school na pinag masteran mo or optional yun gusto ko talaga kasi magturo eh.  Thanks

Planning to take my masters in Admu, punta ko dun after week to submit requirements and pay for processing fee.

Question, sino na nagtake ng exemption exam for Pre-MBA sa ateneo? I'm an accounting grad so I have a solid back ground na with regard to financial and managerial accounting. I having second thought kung kuha na lang ng exemption exam or kunin ko pa rin sya. Sayang din kasi, if they just going to discuss things na I know na, sayang naman tuition.

Another thing, about recommendation letters.. sa school ba kukuha nito? and kelan ako kukuha? mas ok kung pag napasa ko na yung entrance exam no?

I'm a Pre-school Teacher currently taking up my MA in Education major in SPED in UP, the next sem will be my 2nd sem in grad school. And I'd just like to ask whether a 9 unit load is advisable for someone who's a part-time student and full-time teacher? Enlisted na kasi ako sa 3 subjects sa CRS, sayang kung may icacancel ako dun. Haha. Tingin niyo ba advisable siya or not? Na I should just stick with 6 units/sem?

^sis, ang alam ko nasa Php 200-350 sila per unit. for complete requirements check mo sa website nila http://www.pup.edu.ph/gs/AdmissionRegistration.aspx

Hi! Is anyone here familiar with AIM (Asian Institute of Management)? Im planning to take my MBA on AIM pero for part time lang, im currently working during the night kasi. The program im planning to take is Evening EMBA. I took my entrance exam last Friday and was informed today that I passed the exam. And the next step is for the faculty interview. Ang hirap ng test, the exam was 4 hours pero verbal and reading compre was only 30 mins! ang OA sa bilis!

Anyway, Im really nervous for the interview kasi I have a feeling na panel interview sha. Do you ladies know know what type of questions are asked on this interview? Thanks!

ako din taking up mine sa ADMU. kakatapos ko lang ng coursework last sem (end march 2012). compre and thesis na lang. sana.

masarap mag-master's di ba? new friends, stimulating ideas, saka para di maciado focused lang sa work at bahay.  nakaka-bore kasi.

^Me! Teacher pa ako. Instead of just reviewing na lang paguwi galing work, I still need to do lesson plans, visuals and such.

Yes it's fun, BUT it's NOT pure fun! It can be dragging at times. Pero masaya siya, kahit working ka na feeling student pa rin

i had a few grad school classmates who are also teachers.  madalas nila nasasabi na "mas naiintindihan ko na ang mga studyante ko ngayon..." it's funny, kasi mas sinasabi nila ito, pag nangangamote sila sa paper or exams    but i'm sure it's also tough in terms of time management.  teaching is very time consuming (not to mention yung reading involved, add mo pa dito yung own readings mo for school). hirap mag-juggle ng full-time work and grad school, right? but may sarili ciang sets of rewards. so we take the difficult stuff with the good ones. hehe.

mga sis, i didn't pass the UPCAT but still want to pursue my UP dream, how difficult kaya yung entrance test for masters degree? strict din ba siya same nung UPCAT?

sis zanabee, may friend ako who didn't pass the UPCAT.  nag-enroll cia sa ibang school, then nag-transfer sa UP, then nakagraduate! successful UP alumnus cardiologist na cia!  don't let the UPCAT intimidate you. gow gow gow!

I think graduate degree in AIM is more expensive compared to Ateneo. I've asked around about their graduate degree scholarship grant pero may catch talagang grade. If you can't really pull it off at the end of the sem, you will have to return everything (yes, the money they invested on you) which I believe could cost the pocket at least 70, 000 pesos. So big risk rin talaga.

sis, depende sa college. iba iba requirements per college. yung ibang colleges walang standardized test, bonggang bonggang essay exam lang saka battery of interviews.  so better inquire directly with the college of your choice na lang.

i think so, sis.  ateneo kasi mga 3k-ish per unit. so kung two 3-unit subjects kukunin mo per sem, mga 20k per sem. so kung tama yung estimate mo na 70k for AIM, mahal nga yun.

Yes, Aim talaga known as an  expensive school kaya urong sulong rin ako. Parang sore thumb effect ang pwedeng mangyare sakin (ako lang ang poor sa mga magkakaklase). When I was still working in Paseo de Roxas,  I see high end cars parked at AIM.

ayaw mo try other universities, sis? hehe. especially kung maciado unconscionable and risky ang cost.

i still believe depende pa rin yan sa estudyante (lalo na pag master's!).  regardless of gano kamahal or ka-prestigious yung university, individual tiyaga, research capability, analytical strength and articulation pa rin talaga ang nagdedetermine kung mag-e-excel ka at makakatapos.

^I like your post sis. ako kasi, location naman ang habol ko, as a fulltime employee, gusto ko sana yung malapit lang sa office or residence ko. as much as I want to go back to my alma mater UST or makisabay sa mga officemates ko taking MBA in UP, Ateneo or La Salle grad school, ang layo kasi eh, sa age kong ito, parang di na kaya ng powers ko pag malayo.

that's true... i myself am very interested in Admu mba because i like their curriculum best... sa aim naman, i read that they tied up with bpi to offer loans to successful program applicants...
