Mga sis how do you do your meal palnning esp since kasama yung HH sa luto? Plan ko kasi when i go back to work from my ML the HH and yaya have separate na gagamitin pangnulam and bahala na sila magluto. Kasi ang situation now is i cook since si hh di marunong, eh pagbalik ko ng work alangan naman problemahin konpa lunch nila at ipagluto sila diba? Di naman ata tama yun... But at the same time i dont want to say na bahala na kayo sa ulam nyo kasi baka naman ang puros lutuin eh yung mga meat and pagkain na mahal... My yaya is stay out but will eat lunch and dinnere sa house since makakauwi na kami magasawa mga 730 so i think tama lang na pakainin ko sya ng dinner before she leaves. Nyeks, again di sya tama (at least for me)

How or what would you suggest I do? TIA!

^ we share na. 3 adults (kasama si yaya) plus our child lang naman kami sa house and she cooks so kung ano ulam namin, ulam nya din. kung dessert or fruits right after, she has her share din.

wala namang issue samen o sa kanya except lang if the food is maanghang, she cooks her own and most probably itlog na lang lulutuin nya for herself pra daw mabilis. LOL.

if this is the case, i guess you can train them to separate yours from theirs. ang trick kasi namin sa mga kasambahay, sasabihan, "o, magtabi ka na ng sayo ha, prepare mo na din kay sir mo. tapos naku wag ka mag iwan ng puros buto, maawa ka naman sa amo mo! alam mo na ang tama, dai ha. we trust you!" ng pa joke tapos tatatawa naman sila/siya at umeepek naman.

like dito sa yaya ng anak ko, di naman na sya namin sinabihan na magtabi, kusa nyang ginawa pero malupit lang you will see her part e literally buto (chicken). sa kanya yung ulo, paa, leeg (na minsan ako nakikihati kasi gusto ko buto) tapos halos wala ng laman. hehe.

My HH and yaya like eating fish so I buy fish especially for them. When my hubby won't be home for dinner I don't cook anymore, I'll just have a salad or sandwich. Like today I just had rice with spicy tuyo (yum!). I saw the HH put out tilapia to defrost, funny lang it was literally the head and tail of the tilapia. Maybe the middle section was eaten separately? I buy a large enough size tilapia so they only have to cook 1 when they eat and they halved it pa! I checked naman the freezer and there's still a lot of fish left. They also have noodles, luncheon meat and sardines left. So i dunno if they're being tipid or what.

Another time we had steamed siomai for lunch and allocated 4 pieces to our yaya. She only ate 2 lang though and leftover mapo tofu from the night before. Not that I'm complaining but they seem to be really heavy rice eaters.

I have an excel sheet of all the meals I that I know how to cook, hindi recipes ha yung name lang ng ulam tapos naka sort sya into 3 categories, CHEAP,  AFFORDABLE, and PRICEY. Every usually on a friday, I make my grocery and market plan. From the categories I pick 2 from the pricey list, 3 from the affordable list and 2 from the cheap list. Pricey meals are usually cooked on sundays and fridays. and then alternate affordable and cheap on weekdays. The meals din pala is not single meal affordable can mean fish and veggies for lunch and adobo for dinner basta ang price threshold nya ay not more than 500 pesos for the day.

Now with your hh, pwede mo sila gawan ng meal plan for the whole week, tapos yung meats ilabel mo na. kasi ako pag bumili ako ng meats sa grocery kahit 3 kilos binibili ko pinapahiwalay ko sya tag 1 kilo na plastic. So para sa hh mo pwede ka bumili ng 1 kilo pork then hatiin mo sa dalawang supot then label it for example nilagang baboy (I consider this affordable meal kasi masabaw) and the other half kilo menudo (dami patatas) They should strictly abide by the meal plan, hindi pwede kung nao gusto nila iluto yun lang. And since sila lang kakain don't be shy to feed them miswa patola or tortang talong or sardinas and itlog, wag nilang sabihing hindi sila kumakain nun, kung pihikan wag sila kumain or option kung ayaw nila ulam mag itlog sila. wag spoiledin diba.

If I am in your shoes ang meal plan ko sa kanila. weekdays lang since jan ka naman pag weekend siguro
monday
bfast - scrambled egg and rice if 2 sila 2-4 eggs lang dapat scramble nila depende sa laki ng itlog sa ref. hehe
lunch - Ginisang sayote and fried dilis (estimated at 60 pesos yan, 20 pesos yung dilis, 20-30 pesos ang 2 malaking sayote, bawang sibuyas kamatis.)

tuesday
bfast - hot dogs tag 3 sila, CDO cheesedog regular tag 150 per kilo lang yan mga 43 pcs sya in a bag lumalabas 3 pesos isa. so 18 pesos gastos mo, with rice yun.
lunch - sardinas and miswa- 1 can 555 sardines 15 peros and 5 pseos miswa eh di 20 pesos lang yun.
Dinner - tortang talong, 2 pcs for each of them, depending on the price of talong mga 30 to 40 pesos lang cost nya.

Wednesday
bfast- luncheon meat and rice. Yung cdo luncheon meat sa grocery yung maliit na tall can nasa 17 pesos lang isa nung they should slice it into 6 or 8 pcs, kasya na yun sa dalawa.
lunch and dinner menudo half kilo pork lang dapat ang i-allot mo, label it sa ref na for menudo sya.

thurdays
bfast-  daing and rice 25 pesos per pack lang dito samin yan apat na laman.
lunch and dinner nilagang baboy, with half kilo pork pigue, patatas and petsay mga 150 budget dyan

friday
bfast- eggs
luch dinner mungo and galungong. half kilo gg is 70 plus mungo around 50 pesos yun kung walang karne ha.

I cooked minimum of 2 kinds of viands sa gabi for our meal .

Kung weekends and nasa bahay kami lahat ,that's the time freshly cooked ang ulam sa tanghalian at hapunan.

My current kasambahay is okay naman . Tama lang kumain at di OA.  Talagang I make it a point din na di magutom HH dahil ayaw ko sila magkasakit.

Thanks for your tips ladies! Im new at this being an emoloyer thing, when inwas single kasi my mim was the one who worried abt all of this tapos there came a time din that we disnt need hh na so kaminkami nalang sa house and nasanay ako ng ganon.

So sa totoo lang hirap na hirap ako how to deal with hh/yaya related stuff, i dunno when im being too strict or too lenient na...

Sis gulliene, i like yung sample meal plan mo... Ill Try to see how i can do it on my own.

Personally I don't like cooking separate ulam for the maids. Magastos sa gas, water (more pots and pans to wash) and doble effort (kahit sila pa magluto ng ulam nila). Ending mas magastos pa. I only do this if lets say we have pricey ulam (i.e. prawns or steak or for pricey breakfast deli).

I'm glad my maids are not masiba. But nevertheless if mauuna sila kumain before us, I set aside food for them. Their leftovers (or kahit our own leftovers) we don't mix it with the untouched food. If wala kami, they know already which parts to set aside for us. like if chicken ulam, I prefer the wings, my husband prefers the breast, and a drumstick for my daughter...they set these aside for us already.

We have 5 helpers at home and they can eat whatever they want. Sinasabay din namin sila sa pag-kain but sila yung umaayaw-- they'd rather eat ng sabay-sabay sa dirty kitchen where they can eat more and chat.

Whatever we eat, they eat din. Actually, my Husband and I + 2 kids + 2 siblings ni Husband ang nandito sa bahay so basically, mas madami pa ang food budget nila kaysa samin.

No, since the yaya is not ours, and she has her own snacks anyway! But seems like she has a tendency to touch food which she shouldnt be touching! proof? my fruit stripe gum, I placed my pack of gum in the ref and I just get 1-2 sticks. But yesterday, whoa!I got only 3 sticks na lang. The last time I checked, its still 7 sticks pa.  We dont touch  food which we know we dont own as family members.

Yaya''s and maids nowadays are very abusado. Show them a bit of leniency & kindness and they mistake that as a cue for them to act up. Di ko maintindihan bakit di sila umaayos eh sa totoo lang mas masarap ang buhay nila with us at mas masarap or mas regular ang pagkain nila in our households as compared to if they were not with us.

Yung magaling kong hh, di marunong magluto so i cook our food (for husband, me, hh & yaya) napansin ko kapag gulay or fish ang ulam di mashado kumakain, but if meat, nako ang saya saya nila!

^ganyan talaga  ;) kala mo naman sa probinsya eh they eat meat the whole time. sa probinsya naman meat is a luxury item for them. Just make sure you set aside food for them (or for you). that way alam nila that they cannot touch the food you set aside for you.

No we don't because they are given free food naman: rice, ulam, coffee, crackers. They can eat and cook anytime :)

^^^ally: that's what i do now, i segregate their ulam and be super specific what yung iinitin or uulamin nila kasi yun nga exag sila mamili. To the point na mas gugustuhin nila mag instant noodles as compared to mas masustansyang gulay or fish.

^^pinkpotato: inunderstand sis na since di sila kymakain mashado ng meat sa kanila that they would prefer it over the usual fare pero di ko maintindihan is totally dine-deadma nila yung ulam na veggies & fish. Tapos naiinis pako kasi ako na nagluluto for us tapos pipiliaan pa nila ako ng ulam?! Hay! Haha!

^ what if you give na lang the maid her part din? kasi kami for example dessert tsokolate tapos daughter ko eat din so lahat kami then si manang naka upo lang? we feel bad. so just everytime if we have a little treat for ourselves, we give her her part. kahit konti lang matikman nya lang then she'll be okay.

My yaya is sobrang hina kumain. Kahit hainan mo ng food jan, hinde kumakain. I also know that she doesnt touch my daughter's food and snacks kase lageng sobrang daming natitira sa stash ng anak ko especially pag umaalis kame on vacations and on weekends.

We have a new helper though and hinde ko pa na-observe kung malakas ba or hinde kumain. With us naman, hinde kame sobrang strict with food. Whatever we eat, they eat too. When we order food for delivery, they get their share din. We've also learned from experience with our ex-helpers. Lahat ng food na 'off limits' dahil expensive or hard to find, we keep them at my mom's fridge in her room.
