hi po sis docshe.. i have questions po sana.. just last month before dumating period ko i was examining my breasts kasi usually painful sila pag ganung time. then may nakapa ako na lump sa right breast ko.. then i waited a week after matapos ng period ko hoping na mawala din, pero hindi po nawala.. i immediately consulted an obgyne sabi nya fats lang na nabuo. pero to be sure, and i was reading kasi this thread, i consulted a general surgeon just this monday (aug 14)..  physical exam muna tapos may nakapa pa siya na other lumps.. he required me to have breasts ultrasound.. but then i asked if ok lang to have it done a week after my next period na para sure na clear since mukhang naguumpisa na signs ko for my next period.. ok lang po ba yun? is it safe? for now he recommended me to do warm compress.. hoping for your reply sis docshe.. thanks..

Emkeiaree- the best time is to have the ultrasound done 7 to 10 days from day 1 of menses. No need for any warm compress anymore. You can take pain relievers if you have any pain.

My mom was diagnosed with cancer last Nov 1995 and her right breast was removed and she had 6 chemotherapy sessions before, up to now she's just having regular check-ups, is it safe to say that she's really cancer free?

thanks for the reply doc she.. sayang malayo po clinic niyo para sana sa inyo nalang ako magpacheck up.. may chance po ba na mawala mga lumps sa warm compress or is it just to relieve the pain? worried po ako lagi tapos next month palang po ako magpapaultrasound after ng period.. di po ba delikado lalo na last month ko pa nakapa yung mga lump tapos next month pa po ako magpapa ultrasound?

Emkeiaree- where are you from? It's really hard to say what kind of mass you have since I never did get to examine you. But if it's breast cyst or mass then warm compress will not be able to remove it. It may decrease the pain a little.

Chinkyaise- you still have to follow up with your doctor for physical exam and lab exams to check for the lungs , liver and bone coz that's where breast cancer can metastasize.

Emkeiaree- hi! But I usually don't depend on the results only. My practice, i would look at the ultrasound pictures and correlate . Hope you understand. Physical examination is still the most important.

I watched the episode of Krusada kanina, I get really sensitive whenever I hear stories of cancer patients/survivors, lagi kong naaalala the time I knew about my mom's diagnosis, para kong dinurog na hindi ko maintindihan. So everyone, it pays to get cancer detected early, less gastos, less pain, faster recovery, gaya ng sabi nung isang cancer patient, wag pangunahan ng fear.

Im a hypochondriac and I get really paranoid about having cancer dahil sa family history ko, aside from my mom, my maternal grandmom had cancer din kasi, kaya ngayon Im super careful na with my diet, how I manage stress and all those things, mahirap na. Im scared but I plan to undergo routine tests na regularly para hindi ako nagwoworry kung wala naman dapat ikaworry.

My mom also diagnosed stage IV breast cancer way back January 2009. After numerous chemotherapy and infusions she lasted for 2years. Pabalik balik kami sa ospital, parang isa na nga kasi sa mga stockholder dun, lolz. Kilala na din mom ko kasi almost every week, nagpapakuha sya ng cbc. What I loved about my mom, she fights for it. She never acted na may sakit. Minsan nga proud pa nyang sinasabi na “I’m a cancer patient.” Para sakin nakakatuwa, dahil ilang tao lang kayang gawin yun. Sa tuwing may nababalitaan siyang co-patient sa oncology department, tinatakot ko siya. Pero hindi man lang siya natitinag. Nakakabilib kasi ilang tao lang ang may lakas ng loob para harapin ang katotohanan na may taning na ang buhay nya.

And because of her courage, umasa ako na she will get better after her medications. Pero nagkaroon sya ng pneumonia that took her life last May lang. Oo, masakit. Pero the time that I saw her in severe pain, I prayed na sana sumama na siya because I can’t stand seeing my mom suffers. Ayun, sumama naman siya at yun naman ang nakapagpaluwag ng kalooban namin ng kapatid ko. It has been 4 months now and I’m out of the country, kala ko mas madali sakin ang makapagmove on, pero mas mahirap pala.

But after all what happened, wala pa din kaming pinagsisisihang magkapatid. Kasi nung mga panahong naghihirap ang nanay namin sa sakit nya, andun kami para tulungan at suportahan siya. E kung ganun talaga ang plano sa kanya ni Lord, wala na kaming magagawa.

And now on my case, mas naging aware ako sa katawan ko. My lolo had a liver cancer and breast cancer / mayoma naman sa mom ko. So todo self check up ako. Mabuti na yung nag iingat, ayoko na kasing maranasan pa ng mga magiging anak ko yung pagsubok na nangyari samin ng mom ko.

does anyone here know how much cardinal santos (or any hospital) charges for mammogram?

how long does the procedure take?

is there any prep to be done before the procedure?

and how soon do you get the results?

heLLo poh..im22 yrs oLd.,maLaki po ba ang chance na magka breast cancer ako..minsan po kasi masakit ang makati yung left boobs ko..ngstart Lang po ito nung nag gagain na ako ng timbang..nung medyo tumataba ako.. takot nAman po ako magpacheck up sa doctor baka positive..La nAmAN po kaming history sa breast cancer..heLp me naman po..taga gensan po ako..

DocShe_713, meron na ba Cryogenic Treatment dito sa pinas?  Kase may cancer hospital sa China na ito daw yung ginagawa?  It costs about $20,000+.  Dito po kaya saten?

Graxia22- the most important risk factor for Breast cancer is still genetic meaning it doesn't follow a certain body type or age group.
