hello! i have a few questions sana.

does anyone here know how much cardinal santos (or any hospital) charges for mammogram?

how long does the procedure take?

is there any prep to be done before the procedure?

and how soon do you get the results?

sis, i dont know how much e.. ako kasi, 1hr after the mammogram, i got the result na...less than 30mins [textspeak!] procedure. mga less than 20mins pa nga e...mabilis lang. parang sa ultrasound ganun...alang prep...

ako po docshe my nakapa po akong bukol  sa areola ko po. last wik ko [textspeak!] po napansin. hndi ko po alam kng matagal na ba ito. medyo inverted dn po un nipple ko po na my bukol..dpat pu ba ako mag worry..22y.o palang po ako.. no famly  history ng breast cancer po..

Hi, docshe! Queestion lang po. Last 2009, may nakapa ako na parang mass sa left breast ko. Pinacheck ko na siya sa 2 ob gyne and 1 surgeon, and they all told me that hindi naman daw siya tumor. Lump lang daw. Medyo sumasakit kasi siya pag pinepress and pag malapit na period ko. Wala namang discharge sa nipples ko and hindi naman din inverted. Help, please. Natatatakot kasi ako na baka it can lead to cancer. Thanks!

Jenn-it would be better if you have it checked by a surgeon for peace of mind. Have it examined and if ulrSound is requested then have it done.

thanks docshe... im planning to have my 2nd mammogram exam this coming dec... is it ok?though, ala naman nakitang something based on the results.. just for monitoring purposes...mahirap na...

im 26 y/o doc... minsan kasi masakit sa side ng breast ko doc..though ala namang bukol. dahil paranoid ako, i went to med city clinic in gateway...then i got my recommenddation from 1 of the drs there, then after po nun they scheduled me for a mammogram.. yung tita ko po kc is may cyst nun sa breast then eventually, namatay sa brain cancer... so parang natakot nako, kahit bata pa ako, nagpamammogram po ako...

Prettykhae- in my practice, my patient with family history of breast cancer, I usually advise mammogram at 35y/o.and for those without family history then 40y/o yearly. I don't advise mammogram at 26 years old since at your age your breast is dense and it will not be helpful. They will not be able to see anything in your mammogram. Did the surgeon request for your mammogram or an Ob GYN?

prior po dun sa mammogram, a lady doctor po nag check sakin, un usual na kapa kapa habang nakahihga... sabi ko po i just wanna make sure na negative nga yun result, kaya po nag ask ako ng recommendation from her...and sinabi nya naman po na sa age ko dipa talaga sana dapat.. and i am aware po na abt re the age requirement... so ayun po... so hindi na then po advisable na umulit ako since ala naman nakita sa result doc? tia... btw, ot na po ito.. hm po yung vaccine for cervical cancer? like ko po kasi e... tia ulit...

Prettykhae- sorry but I don't inject cervical vaccine. You should try to inquire with your Ob GYN.

my mom died of breast cancer in 2009. i am 27 years old and i am really paranoid about having the same disease. i only have my breasts checked by a doctor if i am having my pre-employment medical. the last time it was checked was october 2010 and nothing was seen. I just want to know if which doctor is better to check it, OB or surgeon? and is it possible to find a malignant tumor at my age? thank you.

Hi! Breast and it's diseases belong to the field of Surgery.So better if you have it checked by a Surgeon. Regarding breast cancer in younger age group, not really that common, however, the youngest patient we have with breast cancer is 18 years old.
