Woohoo brown rice fever! ;D

I found an article before about white rice. To some people it causes acne din daw. And the article suggested brown rice instead of white. ;)

I lost 10 kgs in a span of 3 months! Daming nakapansin. I fit again in my thinner clothes. hehe. Pero I still need to lose 4 kilos para normal na ang weight ko.

I didn't follow the famous after-6-PM habit of not eating rice. I actually eat rice in moderation - not too much and not too little. Yun nga lang, being in the highlands (Baguio), we have red rice in the house - we mix it with white rice.

I'm more of eating small portions of meal per day, but absolutely no midnight snacks for me. I just drink water lang kung sakaling gising ako midnight at nakaramdam ako ng gutom (I always do).

But having that red rice in a meal alone isn't the only way for me to reduce weight. I've identified kung ano ang mga foods na malakas magpataba sa akin. I really didn't eat when I don't feel hungry - tubig or juice lang. I never eat junk foods - softdrinks, instant noodles, chips. Yung fast foods and restaurants - yun ang pinakamalakas magpataba sa akin, so I rarely go to those places. Siguro once or twice a month na lang and I make sure na may kahati ako. Pasta too - yung mga mini-mix na sauce - malakas din magpataba so I don't order those that much. Pizza rin - again those cheese, topping and grease - malakas magpataba.

Mayonnaise - sobrang malakas magpalaki ng butt ko ito.  :o

Kaya even if you have decided not to eat rice after 6 PM, but you are eating other carbohydrates such pasta, pizza or burgers, then it's no use. Dami kong kakilala na ganito ang practice nila but they still wonder kung bakit hindi sila pumapayat.

i think it is..pero if you will skip rice..what will you eat as your carb suppliment?

potatoe?
bread?
pasta?

hhmm they do the same as rice..so why skip rice if you can change your eating habit  by eating less cholesterol foods (pork, beef, chicken)?  eat more veg and fruits..thats better than not eating rice, or at least lessen to 1 cup in a day instead of totally getting rid of it?  And also do some exercise everyday.

yes, i haven't eaten rice for about 3 months now. at first nakakapraning if you've eaten rice all your life and you just cut it out completely. i've been reading a lot about nutrition and weight loss lately and the science says all forms of grain (not just rice) but flour, the wheat in your supposedly healthy whole wheat bread,  your oatmeal, all these low fat low calorie stuff (yes, even your healthy yogurt), the sugar/glucose in junk foods, pasta, potatoes, they raise your blood sugar causing all sorts of metabolic imbalances. the culprit is insulin. so ang sabi you have to eliminate these from your diet. humans have only started eating sugar, grains, flour for the past 10, 000 years and the human body is not equipped to metabolize these kinds of food (especially wheat, which is what flour is made of, it's been hybridized for yield without thought of its long term effects on the body when eaten). especially the highly processed ones that are available right now. these are not filling and are actually addictive (yes, bread is addictive, rice is addictive, ice cream is addictive). it brings about obesity and sickness.

i dunno, i just thought i'd share this because i wish i knew this outright instead of spending so much time being overweight and unhealthy. i have lost 21 lbs in less than 3 months and i am rarely hungry with my diet. i think in these modern times we just have to consider eating differently.

@atrabida i eat meat lang talaga. no sweets, fruit or any form of carb apart from leafy vegetables. i cook for myself mejo nagsasawa na ko na practically ulam lang kinakain so now i grill steak all the time.  kasi i get tempted to eat fried chicken with breading and this really stalls my weight loss. if i crave for something sweet i drink coke light. but it doesn't raise my blood sugar, so...thanks to awesome science.

fyi, 2 slices of wheat or white bread will raise your blood sugar so much more than if you eat rice or a bar of snickers. good for you if you can metabolize that but i found i'm carb sensitive.

search mo lang un ebook ng atkins. that is the diet i'm on. i've been on the induction phase since july 8. i don't exercise (because i get hungry when i do, then i stray from my diet)  but i'm losing weight.

Sis I think this is what they call the Paleo diet. :) Eat like a caveman. Ang pwede lang ata ay nuts, meat, poultry, fish, veggies, fruits.

sis no fruits, because of the fructose. and madalang lang ang nuts because of the carbs din. it's basically just low carb. i'm not familiar with paleo.

I haven't tried red rice. Pero gamit namin yung nabibili sa wet market na brown rice. Kapag kasi sa SM or Shopwise kami bumibili, hindi ganun ka-pure at di ganun ka-sarap (and almost doubled yung price). Hehe! ;D

Based on my experience, di ako tumataba at pumayat rin ako since i stopped eating rice, nagiging bloated kasi sa rice or mga pasta. So iniiwasan ko rin mga meats.

Effective sa brother ko. He replaced rice with oatmeal. He lost 70 pounds (he used to be obese). My one week of not eating rice (well, not really not eating siguro in a week 2-3 cups lang the whole week) i lost 2-3 lbs. I ate cabbage or lettuce to replace rice (as adviced by my hubby. Narinig nya lang sa isang officemate niya). I don't like the texture of oatmeal kasi. I happen to like leafy veggies so hindi naman ako nalungkot na walang rice. Balak ko ito na talaga ang gawin ko forever. LOL.

I still eat bread too but wheat bread and 2 pieces of bread a day max.

Sana mag-lose ulit ako this week ng 2-3 pounds. :)

I'm trying to lessen to 1meal ang pagkain ko ng rice. I usually skip breakfast then rice pag lunch then pag dinner i substituterice with oats. Pero may ulam pa din. Oats kasi daw di nakakataba but it gives a feeling of fullness. Ok kaya yun?

1 month na akong di kumakain ng rice. lagi na lang narereset ang diet kong ito. Hopefully this time e maging lifestyle ko na ang no rice diet.

For 1 month i lost 5kgs na, from 70kgs down to 65kgs. Gusto ko na talaga bumalik sa 54kgs or kahit 58 man lang sana.

I don't replace rice with bread., talagang ulam lang ako, more on gulay and fruits. Madalas skyflakes at bear brand busog lusog ang breakfast ko at pantawid gutom. May mga nakakapansin na nga nag pumayat daw ako.., sarap ng feeling. ^^ 7 more kgs to go. sana talaga pumayat na ko this time. Malapit na mag pasko at ang mga parties e kaliwa't kanan na, i want to enjoy and look fab naman.

Update lang sisses.

I started my no rice journey since March 2012. Ever since, from 115 to 120 na fluctuating weight, naging stable na 110 na ako. But EVERY TIME I eat white rice, I find myself gaining what I lost before.  ::)

Then my parents were converted to brown rice advocates. Nagagalit na silang di ako kumakain so pinagbigyan ko sila. And now, I've been eating brown rice (around 2cups a day) for more than a month, and wow! 110lbs parin ako! Kinakabahan nga ako kanina pagtapak sa scale. Hahaha.

Downside is, kahit anong no rice o brown rice ko, hanggang 110 lang talaga. E 95 ang tama saakin. :(
