How did you get your love for reading?

when I was in high school.. wala talaga ako hilig magbasa, kapag nakakita ako ng books deadma, until one time wala ako magawa then kumuha ako ng book ng sister ko na "Are you afraid of the dark" ni Sidney Sheldon, at yun I start to love reading books na. Ang gaganda nung mga nababasa ko na books nya.. Saka yung kay bob Ong at Harry potter na books

i began to love reading novels when i had a crush on a bookworm blogger.. he's so enthusiastic about books.. i wanted to understand him and know his world..

I started reading since I was five... I read the big bulky American Encyclopedia... I am fond of smelling the pages of the book, don't know why..I'm just addicted to it

My love for reading began when I was still very, very young. Grateful ako sa mama ko since bumili siya ng mga Childcraft and Children's Encyclopedia, etc at ito yung mga lagi kong binabasa. Yung Sweet Valley series din ang isa pang nagpadagdag sa love ko for reading. Nakakatuwa mag-lookback sa mga favorite books ko nun - Sweet Valley, Goosebumps, RL Stine and Fear Street  I honestly believe in the quote "Everyone is a reader … some just haven’t found their favorite book yet"

Which is why even though I dislike Twilight and its ilk, I still have to give it props for getting people to read. Everyone has to start somewhere; sana lang people would explore other books beyond the series.

nag-ask ako before sa friend ko (GT din) sabi ko sa kanya, gusto kong magbasa ng books, kaso first 3 pages pa lang naantok na ako, baka daw hindi ko lang gusto yung genre na binabasa ko, Harry Potter lang siguro yung natapos kong basahin, at matagal ko pang natapos...

then nagbigay cia ng pdf, yung Beach, kaso hindi ko din nasimulan, sabi nya, basahin ko daw, kaso hindi ko na nabasa

then last year, puro fifty shades yung naririnig ko sa radio, nacurious ako, ano bang meron sa book na yun, nanghingi ako ng copy sa friend ko, ayun,yung book 1 mga 1month ko pa ata natapos, tapos yung 2books, natapos ko within 1month...nagustuhan ko yung story, hindi ako makamove on kay Christian Grey, nanghingi pa ako ng ebook sa kanya, sa cp ko lang binabasa, tapos ayun, hindi na ako makamove on kina Ryan, kina Luke, tapos ang sarap umiyak lalo na sa slammed, haha, ayun lagi na akong naghahanap ng ebook...

hindi ko ine-expect na ma-aadik ako kakabasa, napupuyat na ako palagi, ang laki na ng eyebags ko, LOL...

Natuwa ako, kasi alam ko na yung mga gusto kong books
pero sabi ko pa sa friend ko, ayoko ng romance, baka madala lang ako, yun pala yun pa magugustuhan ko, basta contemporary, haha

(ang sakit din pala sa ulo ang magbasa dahil sa puyat, haha, pero nakakatuwa ), sana matagal na akong nagbasa, pero buti na lang may ebook, at least, maraming na-sstore na books

My history professor raffled off books he'd recommend for us to read. I got Griffin & Sabine by Nick Bantock. After reading it I had to complete the series and that means I have to frequent the bookstore. There I found lots more to read, imagine that! I even completed the Powerbooks point system card w/c cost me P10,000 worth of books in 1 year. Fun!

ever since mahilig na ko sa books kasi nung bata pa ko madalas ako bilhan ng libro and since di naman lage pwede manood ng tv napilitan ako magbasa at natuwa naman ako naging hobby na hanggang ngayon

I love reading since I was young. Ang hilig ko basahin dati mga encyclopedia at history books. Nagbago yung nung naging high school student ako. Nahawa ako sa mga classmates kong babae na nagbabasa ng mga tagalog pocket books kahit may klase. Haha. Pero hindi ako nagbabasa habang nagkaklase huh, sila lang yun. Then, nag start ako magbasa ng mga YA books nung college na ako. If I'm not mistaken, yung Princess Diaries yung una kong nabasang english book na walang pictures sa mga pages. Dati kasi naboboring ako sa ganong klaseng books. Okay lang sana kung tagalog, pero kapag english books naboboring ako. The book that made me a bookworm eh yung Twilight. Sobrang na adik ako dati don to the point na pinaprint ko kay papa yung isang book ebook. Haha. And I downloaded on my phone yung last book. Until now nagbabasa pa rin ako. And I'm collecting books too

Ako naman nagsimula nung bata pa ako, tuwang tuwa ako binabasa yun mga encyclopedia na may mga pictures. Pero di ko naman natatapos yun isang book kasi ang kapal. Hanggang sa natuto ako magbasa ng magazine, tapos tagalog pocketbooks tapos naging yun mga english romance pocketbooks. Dati kahit anong kwento ng pocketbook binabasa ko, ngaun namimili na lang ako ng author. hehe..

Nag-dorm ako before. No TV. I didn't have laptop then. So I resorted into reading books.

My mom would always read to me when I was growing up When I could read already, I was spoiled with lots and lots of books! From encyclopedia sets to world literature. I'm grateful to my family for exposing to books at such an early age.

One of my favorite books when I was around 10 years old was a Greek and Roman mythology book by Edith Hamilton. When I got to 4th year highschool, I was pleasantly surprised that it was part of our list of required reading materials in English. I got to relax during that time because I read the stories na! haha

Hmmmm, I don't exactly remember when I started to love reading, but I think it started because we had a lot of books at home, specifically encylopedias (a world without computers has its benefits) - and then came Sweet Valley. Simula noon, naging bookworm na talaga ko, to the point na literal na tambay ako sa library. My friends were library assistants, and I graduated grade school without an academic award - but was recognized as Frequent Library User (guess I was a rare breed back then. haha. AT may ganon talagang award sa school namin.. I enjoyed Choose Your Own Adventure, Nancy Drew, R.L Stine books, and later graduated to Sidney Sheldon, Anne Rice (one of my super favorites), Paulo Coelho, Mitch Albom, J.R.R Tolkien, the Harry Potter and Twilight books, the Percy Jackson Books, the Hunger Game books, and books by another ultimate favorite author, Haruki Murakami.  Dami pa. Di ako masyadong choosy sa authors. And I guess it helps that my college friends are all, as in all, bookworms too.

I also have this habit of reading a book when I find out a movie has been made of it. I find that the book versions are always better than the movie versions. Biased lang.

Reading is a very relaxing thing to do. I can get lost in a book for an entire day (nagawa ko yun sa Book 7 dati ng Harry Potter. Kain lang pahinga). It's a special experience to read a good story too - yung parang hinihila ka papasok sa world na yon (that's why I love Anne Rice, she does that thing so well with her style).

Hubby is my exact opposite, wala syang patience or interest na magbasa for leisure. And paper books vs ebooks? Definitely paper books pa din.

My seatmate back in grade 2 was a bookworm. She read a lot of Sweet Valley Kids and Archie.
So yun i would borrow some of her SVK books, nag ka interest ako in reading books.

One summer during my teenage years, I was stuck at home and my sister recommended that I read books to burn some time. After that, I'm hooked. I've read A Walk to Remember, The Alchemist, To Kill a Mockingbird to start my reading journey. I never looked back. Got addicted to reading.

Recently, I've read The Fault in Our Stars. Made me teary-eyed.

hhhm, ako naman grade 3 ata. yung ex kasi ng kapatid ko na college na that time, super hilig mag basa. as in gulat na gulat ako kasi yung mga binabasa nya yung mga makakapal na books talaga. and super talino nya and galing mag english. so na enganyo nya ako magbasa. nag start ako sa Sweet valley kids, hanggang sa nag level up. yung mga junior high na. hehe. di pa uso ang mga ebooks that time, so kailangan bumili pa. minsan nag rerent ako ng mga pocket books dun sa isang mall malapit samin, tsaka suki ako ng booksale yung nag highschool na. kaso yung mag college ako, biglang nag stop hanggang sa nag work ako. Then yung bff ko naman, na hilig din sa books. sabi mag member daw ako sa good reads, then ayun, na miss ko ng sobra ang magbasa. kakastart ko lang din ulit magbasa early this year.  super bumawi ako sa mga times na matagal akong di nakapag basa.

i discovered my love for reading when i was still a kid. good thing that i got this from my adoptive dad. and mind you, we need to build a big library sa dami ng libro at magazines. I can't read them all dahilan sa bumibili rin ako ng gusto kong book tee hee!. bukod kay papa, si kuya rin mahilig magbasa. all in all, milyones na binibilang kasi wala pa ako sa mundo, ang dami na sa bahay. =)

Pinabasa sakin ng madre yung school book, 10 pages with huge pictures in front of class, I was so happy na naintindihan ko yung story.  When I turned 6, my mom bought us Archie comics na kinaadikan namin magkapatid.  My first novel was Sweet Valley Kids

Influence of friends. =)))) I started with Goosebumps books by RL Stein nung Highschool. I never thought I would actually get to read thicker books than those.
