Tips and suggestions on where to stay in Hongkong

Sis pahingi naman ng suggested Boarding House in HK.

May stopover kami arriving at 11pm and gusto lang namin makitulog for 6 hours then spend the day roaming around before our 4:30 flight out.

Di kasi worth kung mag hotel pa kaming dalawa ng asawa ko. sayang lang ang bayad. hehe

On our first visit, we also stayed at Shamrock Hotel, very near Jordan MTR station. Free buffet breakfast pa. Kaya lang I want to stay nearer sa TST on my future visits.

Next visit to HK, puro DIY travel na lang and we only stayed sa guesthouse, Taisan guesthouse Burlington branch. The best ang location and clean naman yung loob ng mga rooms. Mabait pa yung caretaker, Ate Yolly, and gives us free rice for breakfast in the morning. Kaya ok ang guesthouse sa mga budget travellers. You can also use the kitchen for free to cook your meals.

Hi! been reading ur post, twas of great help for a search of cheap hongkong accomodation. Pwede po ask sis if how we'll be able to contact "Ate Yolly" the Filipina u said who manages the Taisan1? may email po ba siya? planning to book room sana for December. First plan namin na sa Golden Crown Guesthouse sana kami but then we dont have paypal/credit card to pay for the deposit since Golden Crown Guesthouse requires that.. Sa Taisan paano ba kung papabook kami ng room? Ur reply will be of great help so much since this trip would be my first time in Hongkong, Im planning evrything down to the last detail ng trip hehe!. ^sa email kasi si Ken yung nag-rereply at hindi si Ate Yolly, and sometimes sasabihin ni Ken walang available rooms pero if you call Ate Yolly directly, minsan may available naman. Pero sa nabanggit niya sa amin fully booked na sila sa Burlington until May pero December pa naman yung sa inyo. Super layo pa Try to call her na rin para sure. I called her landline via Skype. By the way, we were there just 2 weeks ago.

They also require a deposit either through PayPal or Western Union.

Ngayon, they also ask for deposit which you can send via Western Union or Paypal, 500 HKD.

Better if may reservation kayo..mahirap mag-walk in lalo na with hostels kasi mas madali silang ma-fully booked. sayang din sa oras and hassle lalo na kung may luggage kayo at kasamang bata. just my two cents

when we went to HK last month, we stayed sa Pop Hotel, Canton Road in Mongkok.  it's a bit pricey (almost 10K/night) coz we're 3 adults plus a toddler.  We have 2 beds sa room and not just the regular pull out bed or nilalatag, our "sofa-bed" has LCD TV pa aside from the other one sa master's bed. Nice hotel coz relatively new and we're 5 minutes away from Mongkok station, Langham Place and Ladies Market.

looks like makukuha ko na yung free tickets ko to HK kaya gusto ko sana makahanap n gOK na place na kid friendly.. gusto ko sana sa loob ng Disney but super mahal naman nagpopromo ba sila? natatakot ako mag try ng ibang hotel kasi kasama namin baby namin.. any suggestions please?

  hi mga sis! sis serendipity02 and i have the same problem.  ang honeymoon namin sa HK from October 2 - 6.  although its not my first time to go to HK, both of the times ive been there, part of the tour ako.  we would want to DIY sana itong honeymoon namin para makatipid.  also, with accomodations, we choose not to stay sa hostels.  san ba mganda to stay na clean, affordable hotels near the MRT, shopping and the sights? san ba magandang location to stay, kowloon, mongkok, etc? also, I would need to do our itinerary since first time ni H2B sa HK. tapos gusto din namin pumunta sa macau kasi i havent been there.  heeelllp pls? any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.

Im leaving sa Oct pa. May cousin ako dun kaya lang i know may time na ako lang magisa... Im wondering baka maligaw ako... hehe...

We stayed at Marco Polo Gateway in Tsim Sa Tsui. The best kasi when you go out mall na. Plus may h&m na din dun.

Second and third time we went to Hk, we stayed at The Park Lane Hotel. Big room. Near Times Square, and Sogo No free breakfast. Wifi sa Lobby ng hotel. Near pa sa hotel [textspeak!] Bus stop going to the airport.

Try the YMCA Hong Kong (called the Salisbury Hotel) in TST.  Steps away from the MRT station, connected to Ocean Terminal mall via the MTR subway, and a block away from Nathan.  It's just across the Peninsula HK and a block away from iSqaure mall.  Plus, if you get a harborview room, you see the light show each night. 

Very clean, affordable accommodations.  I like it SO MUCH BETTER than any of the Marco Polo hotels, which I find very old and tired already.  That it's on top of the mall cannot compensate or excuse its refusal to upgrade its bathrooms or toilets!

If you have a little more budget, try the Langham Hotel on TST as well.  Very nice rooms!
