Pre-school/Gradeschool in Makati

Hi! I am just new in posting here, but i had already been reading various comments/suggestions from this site, and i can say they had been very very useful and informative.

I have a son who will be 4 in March whom i will be sending to school this school year, it will be his first but he is smart enough for i have been teaching him all the basic that a 3year old should learn.

I am having a hard time in finding a better school in Barangay Rizal, Makati City. I was thinking of F.E.I.H or forever in him school since it was just a street away from ours, but i could not find any kind of comments from the net, and it made me wonder why... so i have my doubts.

please if anyone here can send me comments/suggestions on preparatory/nursery school nearby.

^ i already paid my reservation in PLAYLAB, its 5000 non-refundable. sadly naunahan ako sa AM sched
so i got no choice but to take he afternoon sched which is at 12:30-3:30 at least my daughter can have lunch before
going to school, i am just thinking of the bright sides kapag panghapon. Sana lang kayanin niya kasi sleeping time talaga
kapag noon time.

i'm sure she will enjoy it there. we went to the play are and my daughter does not want to go home na nga.

My daughter had her trial class sa KIDS last Friday and I she enjoyed. Madami na sya agad new friends hehe... very accommodating ang teachers sa KIDS and they showed me each activity. We also went sa Playlab mas konti yung students pero d kami nkpag trial class kasi d ako nkpa schedule and medyo tired na din daughter ko that day.

Parang pareho sila na ok yung facilities. Mas konti lang pupils sa Playlab compared sa KIDS. Sa Playlab meron pa morning class whereas sa KIDS afternoon nalang ang available.

^ yup sis, they have morning and afternoon classes. What i like about them is that low student-teacher ratio
so mas matutukan talaga ang kids. lalo na ang daughter ko. I am hoping na ibang iba itong school na ito with her current
school now which is a traditional one, they are 30 students in that level they are divided into 10 naman, i am not sure kung
pano nila na-hhandle yun, please everyday assignments nakakainis. i have nothing against assignments pero wag naman everyday
kasi toxic na nga bata sa school pag uwi, aral nanaman.. baka ma-trauma. I am very positive with progressive schools.

^ yes sis I'm positive with progressive schools too... kaya lang si hubby medjo d pa siya convinced kasi yung naobserve nya sa KIDS is wala daw structure yung lessons hehe... He's just concern if maincorporate ba yung math, reading, language and science sa activities. I asked na din yung teachers and they assure us naman na kasama sa mga activities.

I agree low and teacher-pupil ratio sa Playlab sa KIDS naman pg more than 10 na kids they add one teacher assistant and they have "yayas" per class to assist the kids sa pagpunta sa CR, pg-ayos ng gamit and during snack and play time.

Ang like ko sa playlab naman is meron sila brochure na nakalagay yung activities for the day and yung method of teaching nila. Also, parang appealing sa akin ang thematic method...

^sis sana talaga maging okay na ito sa mga kids naten.. I've heard good things about KIDS kaso i have no more
time to sched for a seat in kasi i am also working. eh since nakapag trial class na kami dati nakita ko na din somehow
how it works...

nanibago lang siguro tayo kasi halos sa traditional style tayo lumaki. nakakasawa na din everyday assignments
nakakaloka, ang ending ako lang din ang gumagawa. lol

^What I like about progressive schools is yung training sa kids to be independent. I observed sa KIDS na yung mga bata they know where to put their things, how to do the activities on their own and how to mingle and make friends. The "yayas" just assist them pero sila na [textspeak!] ngmamanage on their own. Kahit yung pag take off ng shoes pag fold ng clothes pag ayos ng pinagkainan...

I hope it's the same way sa Playlab. Iniisip ko pa din kung san yung daughter ko. Sa KIDS afternoon na sya sa Playlab meron pa daw 3 slots sa morning. Baka I'll try to schedule a trial class sa Playlab para mas macompare ko...

^sis, i went to Playlab nung saturday, at puno na ang morning, this is for nursery 2 ha? is your kid for nursery 1 or 2?
nasa waiting list pa kami ng morning slot for nursery 2.

excited na ako talaga to see how my daughter will progress sa new school niya next school year. balitaan
mo ako if san ka na mag settle ha? btw, yung sa playlab includes 3 set of blouse/polo shirt tapos bahala na daw
yung bottom kahit ano.

^ she'll be Kinder this coming June sis... how old is your kid sis? Yup sis balitaan kita... so far parang mas gusto ni hubby KIDS dahil mas marami pupils... mas gusto ni hubby na ma develop social skills ng daughter namin. Pero we still have to schedule trial class sa playlab.

Sa KIDS no uniform. Kasama sa tuition fee are school supplies, art materials and insurance... Sa playlab meron discount until april 15- 5%

sis sa Playlab, kasama na sa tuition fee ang school supplies, uniform (3 pcs polo shirt), insurance and
art materials din. yup sis may discount pa na 5% nakahabol pa nga ako sa 10% so nakatipid pa din ako..
sayang din ang discount sis, if ever dun ka avail mo na yung 5%, 5% is still 5% hehe..

my daughter is 4 years old now, 4.5 by june. saka napansin ko dami nila activities, meron silang day nadadalhin nila
pets nila, excited ako dito kasi may pet ang daughter ko tapos parang pet show ata nila, may mga mommy and kid day
tapos daddy and kid day mga ganun, pati may yaya and kid bonding, pajama party mga ganyan.. nakaka excite tuloy.

^yes sis, nakapag trial class kami but it is for nursery1 before i had a mistake of enrolling my kid to her
current school now.. alam mo na ang story diyan based sa chikahan naten through pm.

Tinignan ko din ang mga activities ng students nila, ibang iba nga. kung maibabalik ko lang talaga, i should've enrolled
my daughter here.

I still have to check with the dev ped kung san mas oks na program kung Playlab or KIDS did you check sis credential ng teachers ng playlab?

^yes sis, they are all graduates of De Lasalle University. Nasa office kami naiwan ng daughter ko
while the assistant is touring the parent who went there to inquire. ayun, puro certificates ng DLSU ang
nakikita ko.

sis, progressive schools naman don't really focus on subjects such as math, science, etc. mga bonus yan especially sa pre-school. what i like about progressive schools is that they allow the child's EQ to flourish. they also instill a love for learning that most traditional schools can not do.

Ok pa ba sa Don Bosco Makati? Any mommies with a gradeschooler there? We live in Paranaque, manageable kaya ang byahe everyday?

my son is studying in don bosco makati, grade 3 na siya dun, started at prep level. ok ang curriculum nila, as early as prep (starting level), may christian values na.  tuition already includes books and name patches, wala na halos babayaran, except minsan, pag family day, you need to pay for the t shirt if na-decide ng parents council na magsuot ang mga bata ng specially designed shirt for the said event, pero di lang naman minsan nagagamit yun, pag fieldtrip and intrams, ginagamit din same shirt, so sulit na din. approachable din ang school authorities, kahit walang appointment pwedeng puntahan ang principal  if you need to discuss something. although di mawawala ang bullying, i like that the school is taking proactive actions to address it. may mga seminars din sila for parents, all for free, usually about parenting and marriage, preventing bullying among others.

marami naman school buses that serves paranaque area. may association ang school buses, you can approach their members pag enrollment time, usually nasa lobby lang sila naka stay o kaya dun sa may labas ng guard.  accredited ng school yung association, so you need not worry.

^wala pa akong list of rates for next school year but sa level ng anak ko last year for grade 3, nasa 60thou+ pagkakatanda ko

^ hi sis, you can try backreading, daming recommendation ng ibang mommies dito. i already made a downpayment with
kids playlab in san antonio village, meron din sa KIDS, schola progresio is in rada st. ayala.
