Same question as above. I'm planning to homeschool my 4 year old daughter because she has multiple allergies. Actually, since I'm a SAHM, I'm already homeschooling her in a way (not formally though). Wala kaming routines, kung ano lang yung feel kong ituro, ganun lang. But I don't think naman she's behind naman kasi she just turned 4 a few days ago but she can already read simple sentences, do simple addition and subtraction.  Pero I think mas maganda pa rin kung structured so I'm leaning towards getting a homeschool program through Sonlight, CFA, or Kolbe.

Ang question ko lang is, pano if after a few years mag-transfer na sya to a big traditional school. Mahihirapan ba kami? Ano yung ipapakita naming proof na she's been homeschooled? Do these programs provide certifications? How do they evaluate their students?

homeschool providers give transcripts that you can use upon moving to conventional schools. though requirements of conventional schools varies, kung mahihirapan or madadalian kayo depends on your school (conventional) of choice. better check with them early so you can prepare ahead. :-)

Based on this article, here's a list of Homeschool Programs with DepEd Accreditation:

The first way is to enrol them in an accredited homeschool program. Some of the more well-known programs are the Catholic Filipino Academy (CFA), founded by Catholic lay preacher Bo Sanchez, The Master's Academy (TMA), a Christian school set up by the Christ's Commission Fellowship (CCF),  and  the Living Heritage Academy, under  the School of Tomorrow (SOT). The Colegio de San Juan de Letran in Manila and Angelicum College also offer a Catholic home study program for elementary and high school levels.

First choice ko sana is CFA since I'm a fan of Bo kaya lang di sila nagrereply sa email ko. Second choice ko is TMA.

ask ko lang.. paano ba mgorder ng sonlight? talaga bang aabot sa pinas ang package? baka kasi may aberya sa customs or whatever like months na pero hindi pa marereceive ang items? ilang buwan bago mareceive ang package?

Nalilito ako. Based on my research, ang daming available homeschool programs, nakakaoverwhelm.

Has anybody here tried transferring to a big traditional school (CSA, Assumption, Poveda etc) coming from a homeschooled program? Yun kasi ang biggest fear ko. Na baka someday when we decide to transfer to a big trad school, hindi kami iaccept.

^ I haven't tried it since mag-6 pa lang ang anak ko. Ateneo pa lang ang narinig ko who openly accepts homeschooled students.

Magulo talaga since hindi lahat ng schools naniniwala sa homeschooling. Kaya rin kami kumuha ng provider to authenticate the grades in case mag-school na talaga kami.

If you have a school in mind na gusto nyo, might as well inquire if they accept homeschooled students. or if they need transcripts when you enroll. depende kasi talaga sa school e. if your desired school does not accept homeschooled students, either ipasok mo na sya now OR pray and hope that in the future they will change their minds OR find another school who will accept homeschooled students.

I just came from our research presentation class today, and one of the groups in our class presented their research study on homeschooling here in Philippines, very promising talaga ang advantages ng homeschooling. Though I'm not sure if I can homeschool my child till highschool...

My son is 11 years old and is currently in grade 7 studying in a traditional (big) school. I am highly considering to transfer him in a homeschooling program (CFA, SOT, etc). I hope you can help me in finding answers to my questions:
Is it possible to enroll him right away after I pull him out of his current school?

One advantage of homeschooling is the flexibility. You can start anytime and you can slow down or catch up depending on what your child needs.

Traditional school didn't work for us.  My daughter was reading at 3rd grade level when she entered pre-school. We also move a lot because of my husband's work.  I spent a lot sleepless night researching. Reading the Well-trained Mind book gave me confidence that we will be fine homeschooling her.

This is one of my ultimate plan/dream for my future kids, however, parang hindi kaya because I am also working full time. Siguro, in the future, if magkaron ng chance na hindi na ako working and the situation calls for homeschooling, this is something we will be seriously considering.

Naiisip ko pa nga noon, meron kayang (part-time) working mom na nag-homeschool din, kaya ba yun? Allowed kaya yung hati kami ng isa pang homeschooling mom ng mga subjects for our kids? Allowed kaya if homeschooled yung kiddo pero for math enroll ko sha sa *Kumon? If homeschooled kaya yung anak ko, ma-accept din kaya sha sa school sa ibang bansa? At maraming pang ibang tanong.

Kaya bilib talaga ako sa mga nag-homeschool ng kids nila, above and beyond the call of duty ang dedication.

We're informally homeschooling our son (pre-school) and we plan to enroll him to a homeschool provider next year for Kinder. My husband and I are both working full-time and I know a lot of moms/parents who are either work-at-home or working full-time also who are homeschooling their kids. Some doesnt even have a helper at home but they are managing and succeeding. :-) You can do it also. Just keep on praying, first for discernment, second for strength and lastly for patience. Hahaha! :-)

Sis ellipsis, I plan to have my daughter take online tests regularly to make sure we have covered the topics she has to learn for every grade level. I saw, TerraNova can be done online. I'm still looking into it, nasa $25-40

Hi sis, there are homeschool provider that are open enrollment( anytime) like TMA, Peniel, SOT but I think CFA follows traditional school , June to March. :-)

i chose open enrollment/open curriculum homeschool provider for my daughter so we can choose the best book for her and study on her own pace.

Another advantage is it's cost-effective.  No need for transportation expenses, miscellaneous expenses being charged by schools, textbooks, uniforms, etc.  Malaking mura talaga.  Not only that, the parent/grandparent mismo can monitor the child's progress.

Hay naku, kung nauso lang itong homeschooling noong kabataan ko eh siguro nag-homeschool na rin ako para laking tipid para sa mga magulang ko hehe.

sis melmedrano, when I have kids of my own, I will be strongly considering homeschooling talaga. ngayon pa lang kailangan ko na ng maraming dasal, mostly kung kaya ko nga and that I am doing it for the right reasons and not because *I* want it lang, may konting side din kase na gusto ko kase maging teacher. right now, with my nephew, he needs the structure that the school is providing and so at least I know na hiyang sha sa school, on the side turo lang ako sa kanya.

Hello mga sis, up ko lang tong topic na ito

I plan to home school my daughter as soon as she turns 2 years old. Super desidido ako dito, and madami dami nadin akong mga nababasa na blogs and nakakausap na mommies na nag homeschool ng mga anak nila. yung iba elementary na din sila.
Problem is, I am a fulltime working mom - just curious sa mga nag home school na mommies, feasible ba mag homeschool kapag full time working mommy. My husband stays at home, an d we discussed na pwede salitan naman kami sa pag home school sa daughter namin.

My daughter is only 8 months old, pero gusto ko na i equip yung sarili ko sa pag homeschool when the time comes na ready na sya.

Also, familiar ba kayo sa rates ng pag home school? nakakita narin ako ng mga ibang schools kaso I haven't asked regarding sa rates nila. though may nakita akong isang blog ang tuition fee ranges between 10k to 30K.

^sis, depedende kung dito mo sya sa pinas ieenrol ng homeschool provider. dito yung TMA nasa 35K w/o books, nag CFA kami dati ang binayaran ko more or less 25k with books. sa Peniel daw nasa 15k w/o books.  mas mahal ang TMA pero may consultant kasi kaya saguaro ganun  plus quarterly me portfolio yung bata.
