^ are you homeschoooling your kid? what age?

^ 5yrs old na po now eldest ko at homeschooling na ang plan ko sa kanya. nag diagnostic exam sya kanina sa SOT at almost perfect naman. practice na lang ng reading ng mga double consonant words. nagnursery, 1 quarter lang, at kinder, natapos naman, sya sa private school. marami syang absent kasi seafarer mr.ko at pag andito outing lagi kami kaya i decided na lang mag homeschooling. twice din sya nasaktan ng classmate nya at sobrang nasasaktan ako.willing naman sya na ako na lang ang teacher nya. very studious ang anak ko kaya ok sa min ang ganito set up.

sis, congrats, galing mo naman and goodluck na din sa paghohomeschooling, ilang mommies na din yung nakausap ko, halos lahat sa SOT(confirm ko lang ha, di ba eto din yung Living Heritage Academy?)
Sana mabigyan mo naman ako idea about  diagnostic test, pano ba yun? meron bang reading program ang SOT?  Me age requirements ba sila? mag-4 yung daughter ko, halos nakakabasa na sya ng 3- 4 letter words, nahihirapan lang ako kasi di ko alam kung ano na ang isususnod ko ituro kaya napagiisipan ko iavail yung nursery reading program ng CFA.

^ hindi naman po ako kasama sa loob nung nag exam sya. lagi ko nga kinukulit etong anak ko kung ano mga tinanong sa kanya at pinasulat para may ma inform ako sa'yo. now lang ako nakareply sa'yo kasi  minsan sasagutin ako hindi ko daw alam yun at hindi nya sasabihin. sabi nya pinagsulat sya whole name nya at pina drawing yun sarili nya. may mga pictures na pinapakita and tell what it is.
yun isa ko naman anak 3 1/2yrs. old ask ko kung pwede na rin ba ienrol ko sa homeschool program nila.ask nila ako kung alam na raw ba ang alphabet at magcount. sabi ko marunong na.pero tingnan pa rin nila baka need p ienrol dun sa 4-6 weeks program nila na hindi ko masyado inintindi kasi im not interested naman.
baka by May ako babalik dun para ienrol sya. whole year round naman ang enrollment.

Medyo OT, mga sis.. Pero meron bang homeschooling na college level? Nag nervous breakdown kasi ako nung pumapasok ako  kaya 'di na ko pinapapasok ng dad ko ngayon sa university. But I really really want to get a degree.. Meron kaya? Pls. help naman..

UP has what you call open university. they offer associate degree and graduate studies na parang distance education. you only come in weekly yata to take tests. sharon cuneta if i'm not mistaken, got her degree that way recently lang. they have a website sis. look it up na lang.

I attended one of TMA's orientation, medyo pricey sila around 35k plus 15-18k for the books. I wanted CFA talaga, confusing lang coz sa Q&A sa website ni bo sanchez its possible to homeschool kahit working and ok to hire someone else tapos when i inquired di pwede [textspeak!] working ako. Ill check on SOT, pag di pa rin ok, last resort ko ay Calvert.

sis prettyjlo  sa SOT paranaque ka ba nagpunta o sa ortigas branch? level 1 ba yung kid mo? nagpainquire kasi ko sa SOT ortigas, ang sabi sa age ng anak ko (almost 4) pangpreschool daw, pero pwede din daw itest kung gusto malaman kung pwede nasa sa level1(di ko sura kasi di ako ang kausap ) ang babayaran daw halos 31k tapos mas mura na daw yung mga susunod na taon kasi wala na yung membership o registration fee na worth 15k.

baka next time ko na sya ienroll dun, turuan ko muna tapos saka ko paexam...baka kasi sobrang simple lang nung materials nila para sa pre-school sayang naman e, marunong na magbasa /addition/subtraction (1 digit lang ha  ) ang anak ko...medyo nahihirapan lang ako kung ano ang isusunod kong ituturo...

Hello pasali, interested din ako i homeschool anak ko, [textspeak!] language barrier ska nahihirapan na sya as he reach higher grade, from kprep [textspeak!] to grade 3 typical school sya.  kya i plan to homeschool him. meron na ba nakasubok nito:

We're also considering homeschooling our two kids.  I'm a fulltime mom and homemaker. My daughter is turning 2 years old this july and my son naman will be 1 year old this june.  As early as now, I'm already researching on homeschooling vs traditional/progressive schools. 

PRETTYJLO, thanks for your posts. They're really informative although when I checked their websites, there weren't any details on homeschooling.

Although my daughter is barely 2 years old, I already see readiness in studying.  She loves to read(or rather, browse, point & name pictures in) books, paint, scribble and draw.  She can already recite the alphabet, and count up to 15( 20 with some prodding).

Could you recommend any materials I can use to teach her the basics here at home?  She may be too young to enrol in regular homeschool programs.

try the montessori way of teaching a kid to read. it worked well for my son. i printed the pink and blue cards(vowels on pink cards and consonants on blue cards) start with three letter words like pet, tapos replace lang the vowels, say A so its 'pat', O "pot', I 'pit', E 'pet'. Meron din online mga picture cards that you can print. its interesting for them kase when they see a picture of the word they are reading.

^sige, i'll try that.  right now, we're using letters and numbers flashcards.  i'm thinkin lang na i might be in too much of a hurry for her to learn how to read.

hmmm share ko lang ginagawa ko sa flash cards before para hindi masyado mainip yung mga kids,i would paste it duon sa object mismo around the house or whatever is available na madali nilang makita,from there natatatak sa isip nila and it's fun without the usual "hey listen pay attention ..what's this? hehe

hello there sis. my child is turning 4 this coming school year and his age is somewhere in the middle for school. i find school to early for him but if he does not enroll now, he might be too old for nursery/kinder next school year. i would like to homeschool him even just for a year. may i know how?

I have a 2.5 year old son and I have embraced the "better later than earlier" principle of homeschooling parents... based on my research though, I might enrol him nga sa SOT because my friend has such a great experience with them (read her blog http://www.christianhomeschooler.info/ )

I heard din that Kids Ahoy has a sort of homeschooling arm and parents can choose how structured the curriculum is, or how much free rein they want

I don't even sweat teaching my son anything particularly... he knows his ABCs and numbers, can read fingerspelling, knows a lot of dinosaurs, loves reading... pero lahat ng activities namin, free flowing... ang structure pa lang namin is yung routine for the day... I am giving myself a year pa before I even attempt phonics siguro, or actual reading...

I am happier this way... and well preggy din kasi ako so tamad galore... but I really like our current setup where am just enjoying my son and taking his lead on what interests him...

I also like that, because child-led ang activities namin, he knows different things than other kids...
