Kumon

Any experience with Kumon ladies? My daughter will be assessed/interview this Jan2010 and she is 3.6yrs old by then and hopefully makapasok for their twice a week session for both Math and Reading.Parang practice na din for her when she goes to school by June.

hi sis. my son is currently into kumon-math.
parang masyado pang bata ng anak mo for kumon. nag-aaral na ba siya? kasi when my son was 4 yrs old and try ko siya ipasok sa kumon hindi pa nila tinanggap. sa math kasi 'yung bata dapat daw nakaka-intindi na ng simple addition...anyway, try mo din...kumon is more on repetition and memorization.. kumon is not a tutorial center.

try mo ang Smart Reader sis.. maganda rin dyan. lalo na at para prepare sa son mo for june school year. dyan sa smart reader parang tutorial...

^Kumon English Reading ko naman siya balak pasok muna sis.Salamat hanap din ako ng Smart Reader.Okay na din kasi kung sa Kumon si baby since in front naman yung STI prep na plano ko ding ienroll siya sa june.para masanay na siya sa surroundings at social life.

My daughter started Kumon when she was 4.4 yrs. old.  We started reading.  It was a big help.  In fact we don't study Reading subjects anymore in her school since she could already read.  I now enrolled her in KUmon Math. Btw, she is now 5 and a consistent honor student, and I would say that Kumon somehow played a role in making her one.

^thanks sis, naencourage talaga ako.super inip na nga ako sa tawag ng Kumon sa akin kaya sa Monday kukulitin ko na.Bago lang kasi yung Kumon building dito near SM centerpoint and holiday kaya i gave them grace period pa.

may assessment din yung anak ko for Kumon-Reading this end of the month. he is only 3.1 years old. sana makuha siya. our main goal lang naman is for him to learn english. tagalog na tagalog kase siya mag salita

^sis kaedee, finally nameet na namin yung head nung Kumon last sat ni hubby, super excited kami kaya pareho pa kaming pumunta.sa thursday na ang enrollment ng baby ko and interview nya naman.

keshiaweird kasi yung teacher naman adviced us to take Kumon Math first since yung discipline sa pag-aaral mas naaaquire daw thru math teachings nila. my first choice was English sana para maenhance pa ang pagsasalita ni baby na natutuhan niya lang kakapanood ng cd.magugulat na lang ako my daughter would say" mommy how do you read this?" pero sa math konti pa lang ang alam niya like basic counting 1-13. tingnan ko na lang how she answer the interview on thursday and decide ano talaga take niya....

You know what sis your child is still young.  I would suggest you enroll her in Kumon reading first.  Kasi when she enrolled in a nursery class they would not study addition and subraction agad eh.  They will, pero introduction lang.  I would suggest that you go for reading first.  That will help her in all her subjects and school and will have an edge in the class.  Anyway, once she go advance in reading then you could enroll her in math.  I am just basing it our experience, including my friends's.

If your concern is counting you can do it on your own.  Repetition is the key. Bilhan mo ng number cards.  Mas ok mauna reading. 

Ngayon kasi Reading and Math kami.  She's in K1.  Super bilis na mag read.  Maayos na comprehension.  We just started Math and she is already in additon tamang tama lang sa level niya sa school medyo advanced lang na konti.  Sa exams madali niya maintindihan mga questions kasi advanced na siya sa reading.  Hindi na ko nahihirapan mag turo sa kanya kasi she could read all by herself.  In fact minsan nagagawa na niya hw's niya sa school, I'll just check it at home.  Ang hirap din kasi pag masyadong advance na siya sa Math.

Super happy ako kasi naperfect ng baby ko yung first exam niya sa Math and super cooperative and behave din siya sa teacher. And super aliw kasi we also have take home exams agad and she enjoys it.

Yung baby ko naman sis, ang hilig niya kasi is reading and writing since every night puro story telling muna kami before we tuck her to bed. Kaya pang-entertain niya sa bisita ang magstory telling at kinocorrect niya yaya niya pag may nasabing mali na english

Pansin ko talagang advance na mga bata ngayon,sarap turuan lalo. After the first level, I will consider adding Reading na din, basta makita ko enjoy si baby at check our finances again since preschool na siya baka mabigatan na kami hehe

my daughter is taking Kumon math palagi nya perfect ang math exams nya sa school and she takes on challenges from the teachers so palagi sya may commendations. Sa ibang subjects perfect din sya minsan one mistake lang. I think kumon has played a big part bakit ok sya sa school. I am not sure though about the age. Baka masyado pang maaga. When i enrolled my daughter she was already 4.9 yrs. Old.

how much normally do you spend on kumon centers? my daughter is 6 yrs. old. i'm thinking of enrolling her in this program .. tia!

^ hi sis... kumon monthly fee is P1800.. they usually offer free two-weeks trial, i dunno if they'll have trials this summer.. before i enrolled my daughter pina-trial ko muna, usually september ang alam kong trial nila... it's better kasi trial muna to see how your child will react to kumon and also familiarize yourself with the method... para di din sayang money...=)

it's not a tutorial center. it's learning thru repetition... my daughter started kumon math when she was 6 and it taught her focus and discipline in studying.

I am planning to enroll my son in Kumon. He will be attending big school na next year so I hope this will help him be better in math

hi sis... i let my daughter join the free trial muna... ok naman siya dun.. i also explained to her that this will help make studying math in school easier... then, inevaluate siya sa kumon to see her level... di naman nila agad ilalagay [textspeak!] bata sa level na di nila kaya.. at the start, medyo madali pa [textspeak!] level....

i noticed na it really helped her in math kasi we usually breeze thru her math homeworks.. as in a few minutes lang tapos na kami sa homeworks.. madali niya ma-pickup

now, she's into multiplication (2digits multiplied by 1digit).. ngayon nahihirapan na siya... there were crying spells na kasi di niya matapos.. but we usually talk with her kumon teacher and they usually adjust the worksheet para di din mahirapan...=)

just don't force it to your child... they will be ready naman in their own time...=)

my son had his diagnostic test last monday, he's 3.7y.o.  he started sa pinakalowest level ng kumon for both Reading and Math.  He enjoyed it naman, and he enjoyed answering the worksheets at home din.  I hope mag tuloy tuloy naman siya sa kumon

ask ko lang po mga sis...

balak kasi namin ipasok yung pamangkin ko na mag 5 years old palang sa Kumon...

pumapayag ba sila ng Summer class lang ( probably April and May lang)?  She'll start her Grade 1 na kasi by June....
