Suggestions on Progressive Schools

Need your help .im a single mom and I'm looking for a good progressive school along Marcos highway but not too expensive. Also I would like to ask if magis a progressive school and anyone knows their tf? I got a 5 year old girl kid thanks for your help in advance

^Keys Grade School in Mandaluyong, Poveda supposedly uses the Progressive approach and I think there's another one in Cubao/Teacher's Village.

Because of the K-12 adjustments, my 5.3 year old is expected to be in Grade 1 next school year. Kaya me and other mommies are scouting grade schools na progressive. Our kids are studying at Creative Explorers. Progressive school siya sa Visayas Avenue.

So far ang naikot namin: Raya, The Learning Tree, Nest and Headway.

Each has its charm. Kailangan lang talaga may ibat ibang choices dahil limited ang slots sa progressive schools.

If you ask me, I'm leaning towards Headway - because they have an opportunity class kung san a child can sample different instruments or arts para malaman niya kung ano talaga gusto niya. Gusto ko lang expose anak ko to this. Also they have Cathecism class, optional for catholics, every Friday.
I also like The Learning Tree because they have been getting good reviews ever since. Magagaling ang produkto nito.

It is really hard to find schools these days. Goodluck sa ating lahat.

hi sis. naguluhan ako sa k-12 na yan. the head of my son's present school explained it to us so akala ko i understood na, but when asked if my son would be "labelled" grade 1 next year, she replied, no prep pa din. although she said labels lang naman daw yun, pano if i transfer my son to another school kapag grade school na sya? baka ulitin nung new school grade 1 ulit son ko kasi prep pa lang matatapos nya sa school nya now dba?

hi mommies, i need all your help. may effect ba if ill transfer my daughter from traditional to progressive? kasi an incident happened, when the yaya is waiting for the dismissal of my daughter from school, the teacher approached her and said, "pls tell, xxxx's mom na hindi nag exam si xxxxx 2 subjects, and she doesn't know how to count" imagine, my daughter is turning 4 and was accused that she does not know how to count. so i was alarmed dahil alam kong hindi totoo yun, kasi naririnig ko daughter ko mag count kapag nag pretend play kami ng teacher-teacher-an. ganun ba sila mag assess ng student? btw, this is a preschool in makati.

so i talked to my husband, sabi ko mali yata yun school na pinag enrollan naten kay xxxxx. and the other complain of the teacher is ikot daw ng ikot sa room yung anak ko, and when she's asked to count (with pointing fingers) she's starting to count daw with number 2! so i am sure niloloko ng daughter ko ang activity, may behavior kasi siya na kapag ayaw niya gawin, hindi niya gagawin.

I talked to the teacher, i called the school and i asked if my daughter can re-take the exam and they scheduled her. then the feedback naman later on, mabilis daw nasagutan ng anak ko yung exam. and my daughter said pa, "mommy, teacher said, i got very good grade sa exam" now, di ko alam kung ililipat ko pa sa progressive school or i-transfer ko nalang siya. pansin ko din tortured sila masyado sa dami ng assignment everyday! and true and blog ni teachertina that we end up fighting.

^^ What do you mean by "may bearing"? 

Before you transfer your child to a progressive school, think and observe if your daughter is really more suited to one.  For all you know, she may very well thrive in a traditional school, just not the school where she is enrolled now.

myn daughter will turn one next year, feb 2 to be exact. grabe, ngayon lang ako naligaw sa thread na to pero parang gusto ko na agad na magprogressive school sya. hahahha

pero aprang wala akong nabasa na meron somehwere in manila. sampaloc, manila area kasi kami.

I love the concept of progressive schools but as others have posted, it may not be for every child. My question is, how do you determine what type of school is best for your child? I don't want to have to keep moving her on a trial and error basis. How did you mommies decide whether progressive or traditional school for your child?
