Thanks sis maruchi and sis sette 112096!

Actually simple lang ang BLW, hindi ko natry ang spoon feeding pero according sa mga mommies na nagtry ng BLW at ng spoon feeding sabi nila mas madali daw ang BLW kasi nga naman we don't need to mash or puree anything.

1) Baby should be six months old - anyway eto naman talaga ang recommended age ng world health organization to start a baby on solids.  marami syang benefits if we'll start feeding our babies from six months like decreasing the possiblities of having food allergies, kasi mas mature na [textspeak!] digestive system ni baby

2) Baby should be able to sit with little or no support

3) When baby meets both requirements above, you can start feeding her solids.  To start with cut up the fruits or veggies to finger food sizes ( in our case the very first meal our little one had was composed of brocolli, cauliflower, carrots and banana - all cut up to finger food sizes).  Syempre no need to say cook the veggies until malambot na sila and no salt.  (we add pepper and other spices to food of our baby)

4) you can either sit the baby on a high chair or you can just put him on your lap (coz some babies don't like to sit on the high chair) then put the plate of food in front of him but make sure that he can easily reach for the food and then let him do his thing.  hayaan nyo na sya kumuha ng food from plate.  (actually in our case, [textspeak!] high chair na binili namin has a detachable board so hindi na kami nagpplate direct na namin nilalagay dun sa board [textspeak!] food nya).

5) it helps if your entire family eats together coz the baby will learn and imitate you.  she will also learn that meal times are social events kasi she can see that the family members are having conversation while they eat and she will not feel left out.

6) you should give the baby 3 meals a day so that she will have a lot of time to practice her skills.  BLW is also a way for baby to practice their hand-eye coordination.  sa umpisa hindi nila masshoot [textspeak!] food sa mouth nila but if you give them plenty of chances to practice they will learn very quickly.

7) according to the book, babies' (till about the age of one) primary source of nourishment is milk.  so treat solid feeding not as a source of nourishment but as a time for babies to play.  kaya in my case i don't stress kung halos walang nakain [textspeak!] baby ko kasi i breastfeed her on demand kaya i'm sure na hindi sya nagugutom (so the same way na ginagawa ko nung hindi pa sya kumakain ng solids).

8) Be ready for the Mess!

9) Offer a variety of nutritious food, sometimes they will not like a certain food but its ok, let them be just offer it again the next time.

so far eto [textspeak!] mga natatandaan ko sa mga nabasa ko.... i'll check the book if i missed out anything important when i get home and update accordingly.

Goodluck! happy eating to our babies!

ganon pala un. it's the first time i heard about this method. nakakatakot lang baka ma-choke yung bata. dapat talaga bantayan ng husto when your baby is eating. pero parang ang cute tingnan kasi parang takam na takam yung baby mo, gusto nya i-try lahat.  :)

will do din my own research, i'm interested BLW. my daughter who's turning 2 is medyo picky. pag-dry yung ulam like fish and fried chicken ayaw nya. love nya ang mga sabaw at may sarsa. pag feeling nya may sagabal sa dila nya, naga-gag na sya agad. nasanay kasi sa mashed food.

sana yung little boy ko hindi ganon. i think mae-enjoy nya food nya.  :D

thanks for the info!

Goodluck sis!

I never knew about this with my eldest kaya now that he is 6 years old, he is such a picky eater. He doesn't want to try new foods and kahit mga familiar na sa kanya, ayaw niya pa rin.

But it works well with my 2 years old. Napakatakaw. Lahat na lang kinakain. He won't cry over a toy or anything but he will definitely cry over food. I swear. Kaya he is super taba.

With our soon to be bunso, who'll be coming out this September, ganitong method na rin. Proven ko na eh.  ;D

^^ Yes, it's effective with my 2nd child. Spoon fed kasi yung eldest ko and I am not sure if yun yung difference or hiyangan lang sa method yan.

But with my 3rd child, I'll surely use this method and if it works, then proven na okay siya.

Minsan nga, nakakatawa may kamay na sumisingit sa plates namin, yung bunso namin kumukuha ng food sa amin kasi ubos na pala yung kanya! Hehe  ;D

i like this, too. now ko lang nalaman. pero palagay ko ito na rin ang ginagawa ko now. except the part na isasabay sya sa pagkain. ang hirap kasi ayaw nya na ngayon sa high chair. tapos hindi pa ako marunong kumain ng isang kamay lang para kandungin sya while eating. it's just so busy these days sa dami ng inaasikaso namin dito sa bahay. kaya andun sya with my mom.

^ kami sis so far gusto nya sa high chair kaya before we eat ready na [textspeak!] food nya tapos ihihilera namin sa harap nya then sabay sabay na kami kumakain kasi with this sya na rin ang kumukuha ng food nya from her plate kaya ako binabantayan ko nalang sya as she picks and eats her food...

« Reply #73 on: June 15, 2010, 05:32:43 pm »
my wife is breastfeeding exclusively to our baby. minsan lang siya magpump and ipa feed kay baby [textspeak!] pump milk sa bottle.
but it was more than a month, may 1 exactly nung huling pinadede namin sa bote si baby.. and now when we try it again.. ayaw niya dumede unless sa mommy niya.. any tips mga mommies.. we're first time parents so we're in a learning process right now.

^ Try using a feeding cup like this: http://www.medelasuction.com/ISBD/breastfeeding/products/babycup.php

You can find that at Toy Town in Eastwood Mall or try asking Medela Moms.

@daddy yo congratulations to your wife for breastfeeding exclusively.
ganyan  po talaga pag exclusive breastfeeding hirap sa transition to bottle feeding. I try different brand of nipples but it didnt work. ang ginawa ko sa eldest ko iniwan ko sya kay mom ng 2days kasi preggy na ko sa 2nd baby. She's 1yr and 3mos. na. mahirap mag wean pag naaamoy pa din ni baby c mommy.at nabasa ko na dapat iba talaga ang magpadede at malayo talaga sa mom. nasa cavite ako at si baby nasa manila nun. Layo na yun, di ba?
Sa 2nd baby ko naman di na talaga sya nag bottle fed. straight to the cup with straw. 1 yr. and 5mos. naman sya nun.

daddy-yo, pinagdaanan ko rin yan. sa kagustuhan kong exclusively breastfeed c baby di tuloy dumedede sa bottle, di tuloy ako nakapagschool. marami ako nabiling feeding bottles and i've tried different brands ng formula. atleast ngayon may nagustuhan na syang bottle (Thinkbaby bottle - lambot kasi ng nipple) and milk (Enfa - not too sweet unlike other brands). Maraming bottle ngayon na designed for breastfeeding babies like Adiri, Tommee Tippee, Breastflow, etc. Siguro sa milk pwedeng milk na lang ni mommy or choose formula na medyo same sa taste ng milk ni mommy.  ;D

Hay daddy-yo, I have the same problem.  The technique I use these days is, pag gutom si baby, I'll breastfeed him for around 30 seconds, then tatanggalin ko (kunyari nabitawan) then will gently feed him through the bottle.  Right now hindi pa niya napapansin, so naloloko ko pa siya.  Feeling ko after a while mafi-figure out din niya, LOL.  But at least he's drinking from the bottle. :)

i have read in a book na most kids are off the bottle by age of 1. if they will drink for the bottle, it should only contain water.

mga sis, at what age did you try to wean your kids?
