^ haha! admittedly, my nagtatanong kung saan ako graduate. ewan ko ba kung bakit ako pa ang nahihiya na sagutin yun. may nagtatanong na din kung ilang taon na ako, at kung my asawa na ako. haha! my balak ireto sa akin.

^ don't worry you're not alone. ironically, i applied for neurology residency at a private hospital here in manila. i quit after just 1 day. hehe!

^thanks doc. if you dont mind me asking, bakit ka po nagquit sa neuro? kinoconsider ko din ang neurology as a specialization in the future tho its too early for me to decide kung ano ang magiging field ko:)

realized that i should know brodmann areas and cranial nerves by heart. haay. feeling ko tuloy may lesion ako sa wernicke's area. haha. Btw, i tried extracting my classmate's blood for the first time last friday,naghesitate ako nun una to hit the vein, pero nun nahit ko na, nagfreak out naman ako nun nakakita na ako ng blood. hope i can extract blood correctly next time.

ganyan din ako dati. i thought neuro ang kukunin ko na specialization. when i was there, it was so tough & i felt it is not for me.. and that time, i was fresh from passing the boards - perhaps i was unprepared pa to start residency.

Hi mga docs! Ask ko lang ano mga subject nung 1st year kayo?

ask yourself kung gusto mo ba talaga maging duktor kasi hindi biro ang papasukin mo. if so then by all means go for it. what details are you wanting to know ba? are you asking kung ano ang career path after graduation, passing the boards? how much ang salary ng mga duktor? how long before you establish your own practice? in your present situation, mahirap kasi you have several roles to fulfill at the same time. you need someone to take care of your baby while your studying and soon, when you're at the hospital. 

with regards to UST being bookish, yes that's correct but my patient exposure naman during the academic years (2nd and 3rd years). 

Gusto ko po muna malaman what to expect during my first 2 years as a med student? Sobrang dadalawang isip pa talaga ako ngayon eh. Tutal I still have 1 year to decide. If medicine talaga is for me.

basic subjects - gross & clinical anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microscopic anatomy (histology), neuro-anatomy, preventive medicine, ethics, psychiatry. anatomy, biochem, and physiology are given big number of units since they're pre-requisites for 2nd yr.

^ for those medical schools who are using the traditional curriculum, probably it is.

for others who have a different curriculum (like UP which uses the organ-system-approach - parang ganun ang tawag nila. correct me if i'm wrong), i'm not sure kung ganyan din.

Goodluck T_T be ready for the hardest clerkship (4th year) in all of the hospitals in our country (Ospital ng Maynila). Traditional plus problem-based ang curriculum sa PLM-CM.

I hope you had good undergrad grades. With that, plus a low ITR and you being a Manila Resident,

your Medical School Tuition fee can be as low as 3,000 per sem.

(usually 100k+ pesos per sem ang medical schools) ^_^

it's been a week since medical clerkship started for me. Internal Medicine ER ang first rotation ko.

At first, medyo ayoko talaga humawak ng indigents (oo maarte ako), pero ngayon keber na lang. I learn from them after all. Lagi na lang ako naka-mask dahil most of the patients has tuberculosis 

Exciting sa Emergency room. Pero parang may bipedal edema ako after my first 36 hour duty.
