What's the best way to clean laminate flooring? Any recommended product?

i used to work sa manufacturer ng laminated flooring. damp cloth lang. don't use any chemical since it will strip off the lamination.

question ko lang regarding modular cabinets. eto kasi talaga gusto ko ipa-customize yung mga cabinets sa kitchen at bedroom. ok ba ang ganito? matibay ba? any feedback regarding modular cabinets? thanks in advance.

if yung modular cabinet mo is made of HDF or MDF, use it lang sa bedroom. It can absorb moisture and might bloat over time sa kitchen

the turnover of our unit in tivoli gardens is almost around the corner and we have not thought of anything yet on how to decorate it. personally, i would like to hire an ID to make things easier but looking around the net, it would cost us a lot. so we thought to hire a carpenter to customize our kitchen, toilet and bedroom cabinets. can anyone recommend someone? ^kitchen and bedroom cabinet lang marrecommend ko sis.san jose builders.based sila sa carmona.sila gumawa sa current bahay namin at sa lilipatan if ok ang quote nila.pulido kasi gawa nila doon sa amin.di lumolobo yung kitchen cabinets at di rin nangangamoy kulob.

NICE THREAD! Here's my concern naman...concrete na kasi ang house namin and wala na ako ipapasira then gawa (like another floor ng bahay, bungalow type lang yun). ang gusto ko sana eh maging modern ang look ng bahay and concern ko lang eh yung:

1. wall - any idea ng color? gusto ng mom ko ay light color pero wag sana yung madaling madumihan. and other 3 colors para sa wall ng room ng mom ko, room ko then guest room.
2. CR - we are planning na magpagawa ng panibagong cr sa loob ng room ng mom ko (so basically, sisirain din pala namin yung wall nya dun. haha) magkano kaya ang aabutin nito? yung size sa mga studio type na condo lang siguro.
3. kitchen - maliit lang ang kitchen namin. di pwede ang mala-pang chef na kitchen area. however, my mom loves to cook. gusto ko sana maging bongga ang kitchen nya. baka may mga sample pics kayo jan for ideas?
4. saan kaya ako makakakuha ng murang appliances, lights, etc.? i dont think na maaabutan ko kasi ang mga sale eh. or if ever may sale, madalas ba mag-sale ng december since magoout naman sila ng bagong units for next year?

^for no. 1 sis, if you don't like white walls, then try cream, peach, pale yellow or grayish blue colors for the living room and dining room. for the bedrooms, you may try tiffany blue or robin's egg blue or mint green for the soothing effect.

For no. 3, since your kitchen is small and you want a modern look, try an all stainless steel look or an all-white modern look (white granite or synthetic granite countertop, colored or frosted glass backsplash, duco finish cabinets). Illusion-wise, the space will look bigger.

For no. 4, you may shop for lights and lighting accessories and bathroom accessories at soler in binondo. Also, visit one-stop shops such as MC Home Depot and wilcon.

I also suggest you browse home magazines for ideas. I collect local real living mags and depot home mags and I get my ideas from these mags.

1. i like yung colors na sinuggest mo. nakakatuwa may napili na ako for each room. so, anong maisusuggest mong brand ng paint na budget friendly? my other concern is this...tingin mo maganda ba yung pagpasok mo sa iba't ibang room magshishift agad ng color/mood yung room? im thinking kasi na what if "related" colors pa din yung piliin ko for each room. also, yung nasa living and dining room namin ngayon is white paint with "spray" of darker tifanny blue ata. so, technically, may "texture" sya and not pure paint. paano namin gagawin yun ngayon? waaa. >___<

3. sis, mejo mahirap na suggestion mo dito since concrete na bahay namin ang hirap naman nung ipapasira ko pa. budgeted din kasi yung pagaayos namin sa bahay. hihi. so basically, mukhang sa appliances and utensils nalang namin babawiin.

^sis for no. 1, boysen is budget-friendly already. Latex for concrete walls and enamel for wooden walls. I use Davies paint coz there's no smell, unleaded and safe but the choice of colors are limited plus medyo pricey. kung ok lang sa inyo sis, when you paint the bedrooms, evacuate muna kayo sa ibang room para di nyo ma inhale ng inhale ang amoy. sa ngayon hindi na talaga matchy matchy ang mga colors - eclectic na ang dating. but if you want cohesive ang dating ng bahay, then pwede rin gradient or kaya match sa color wheel ang mangyayari. For example, green and yellow, or blue and green, or pink and peach, or yellow and beige. tsaka ang gradient ng mga to, like from light to darker shade, say robin's egg to tiffany blue to cerulean blue. You mean yung texture ngayon ng walls nyo is parang eggshell blue? May specks? If you want to change the paint, paint the primer first before the actual color. canvass ka rin sis kung saan ka makakamura - sa paint or wallpaper. There are pretty and inexpensive vinyl wallpapers out there. Check out binondo sis or sa shell canvass or sa sm our home.

for no. 3, for ceramic plates and utensils, go to dapitan arcade or uniwide coastal. maraming magaganda at mura dun na pang resto-worthy sis. for appliances, ok naman ang sm appliance center, abenson and western appliance sis. they offer installment din naman. Just ensure that you're choosing quality appliances para tatagal.

^1. thanks sis. i'll consider boysen and davies na din. i thought kasi may ibang brand pa na okay other than these two. about sa matchy matchy colors ng room. okay na din siguro kahit magkakaiba. depende nalang sa gagamit ng room. ang paint ng living room namin ngayon ay (imagine this) white paint sprinkled with blue paint. so, technically, may texture sya kasi di smooth ang wall namin. di ko madescribe ng mabuti haha. ang worry ko is maging boring ang mood ng living room pag plain paint lang pinalit namin.

^Don't worry about boring walls. You can still liven up the room through other elements - curtains, furnitures, upholstery, soft furnishings like pillows, paintings and other wall hangings, etc.  Even lighting can change the mood of your space.

These are the details that will stamp your personality on your space. ;-)

i don't know if this is the right thread. May nabili kasi kaming house na foreclosed, okay naman siya. gusto ko lang na ma repair yung pwede pa marepair kasi okay naman siya. Question, possible pa ba na ma save yung mga built in cabinets pag may sirang part like yung sa labas.. para kasing slightly kinain sya ng anay pero wala na ngayon.. ok pa kasi yung cabinet except one side na parang may tuklap... ayoko naman kasi mag palit agad kasi mahal. Pwede pa kaya ma repair yun? or kailangan ko ng tangapin na pababaklas ko lahat?

^kung one part lang naman ang inanay sis, pwede namang yun na lang din yung tuklapin mo at palitan para di na magastos. kung ano ang existing paint, sundan mo na lang sis para cohesive tingnan.

I just want to share. My bestfriend is an ID and has a furniture shop as their family biz in Novaliches. They have several showrooms there.. They customize furniture as per clients' taste. Nagpapa construct kami ng house pero hinde covered yung parking.  I'm wondering yung trelis/pergola how much kaya yung estimated cost non?  is it wise to use kaya wood or cement na lang then paint na lang ng wooden look?  Do you have suggestions ba mga sis?

I'm wondering to put a dropped ceeling (tama ba spelling), pero mukhang mahal yata sya kahit dont have idea how much normally ang cost non... baka meron kayong mashare.

^there are paints and varnishes that simulate wood finish sis. try mc home depot, ace and handyman and other hardware stores.

as to your dropped ceiling, the cost depends naman sis kung anong material and anong finish ang gusto nyo. if you want matibay and anti-anay, you can use hardiflex or marine plywood, kaso medyo mahal lang. but if you're on a budget, ordinary plywood will do. coat it na lang with solignum tsaka dapat iwas basa kasi madaling bumigay. if yung lugar is madaling mabasa, may moisture-resistant gypsum board naman.

^i almost did when i had our condo renovated. I like pa naman the styles of hannah acab faustino, kristine neri, wilan dayrit and gwynn guanzon. kaso hiring one is uber mahal. feeusually starts at 1.5k fee per sq m, the more known and experienced the ID, the costlier it gets. some IDs naman offer package na kaso from 300k up. since I had an architect working pro bono for me at that time, i took advantage na lang ng bongga hehe.

Does anyone know where to buy decorative cabinet knobs? Bubble, glass, ceramic, etc? Especially those like the ones inside Miss Selfridge's dressing rooms?

I saw some on Etsy and they aren't that expensive but I'd have to ship them over pa. I'd rather buy locally but have no idea where to start. And yes, I've looked at hardware stores, not exactly what I'm looking for.
