Ever been to Kota Kinabalu?

had an incredible 4d, 3n stay at kota kinabalu. thank you for the tips!
stayed at horizon hotel, i would recommend this hotel cos location is nice (near suria sabah, jesselton, filipino market... although walkers rin kami)

fri - filipino market, kk waterfront
sat- sapi and manukan, tanjung aru beach
sun - poring spring, kinabalu park (di kami masyado nakatangin sa kinabalu park dahil maulan na) [textspeak!] canopy walk was quite a trek ah! magdala ng rubbershoes! hahaha. kala namin kasi hindi paakyat so naka slippers lang kami wahahaha!

marami kaming di napuntahan masyado like shang rasa ria, kudat, etc. so siguro next trip nalang. very laidback place. sarap din magshopping dn for some reason. [textspeak!] shu uemura mas mura by a couple of hundreds. hahahah.

natuwa lang ako sa idea na metered taxi, pero hindi namin nagamit ang metro once ever! hahaha puro fixed rate and taxi? oh well!

fun fun place! very laid back! must visit for everyone. i havent been to kl so i couldnt compare pero nice to visit also.

I have been to KL and Melaka. Seems like KK has a different thing to offer. I read they even have a different tourism campaign than the Truly Asia slogan..

I did some backreading and I was not able to find some answers on some topics. Balak kasi namin pumunta sometime next month or in September. Hope some sisses can help me out...


1. Kaya ba KK w/brunei ng 4 days?

2. Gaano kalayo KK city central from KK airport? How much would the fare usually be and what are the available modes of transpo?

3. How far is Mt. Kinabalu park from the city? Pwede DIY? How?

4. Kaya ba ang Brunei ng 1 day tour or overnight?

2) There are buses and cabs (RM 30-50?)

4) Day tour from KK definitely not. Overnight yes - leave early from Brunei because the ferries tend to be full and there are not too many trips from Brunei to Labuan. From Labuan you need to catch another ferry back to KK.

^^taxi from/to KK City to the airport is fixed RM 30.00 in taxi.

^Sabi sa wikitravel may shuttle daw or some buses from KKIA to the city. OK naman kaya na option din yun instead of a taxi since it costs much cheaper?

Hmm not sure which Terminal Tiger uses but there really are buses - it also depends on the time of your arrival. You shouldn't worry too much Worst case scenario is you'll have to pay for a cab.

@foruiz - i think tiger uses kkia1 kasi we were at kikia2 for four times and only airasia uses kkia2 on all those times. re buses, if kkia2 mejo malayo yung lalakarin papunta sa road where there are buses going to the city. kung marami kayo sulit na rin yung RM30 sa taxi. it could be a different case for kkia1.

parang bitin nga 4 days kung may brunei, parang ok na yun na kk lang kung kasama ang kinabalu park kasi mahabang byahe din papunta dun e.

also, on our first time, we tried riding the bus from the city back to the airport the first time we were there. The city bus took so long to arrive so we walked to wawasan terminal, and this is very far from the city so nagsisi talaga ko sa lakad. wawasan is dusty as dusty can get, and the shuttle to the airport is non-aircon. The fare is cheaper with the bus but it can be uncomfortable.

^Thanks for the replies sisses, onga looks like the 10RM is a better deal na rin and more comfy even kung mahabang lakaran naman pala besides we will be splitting the costs anyway. =)

^yes sis, did solo travel here last May 2012 but that's my second time naman, first was 2010, so somehow, i already have an idea of the place and on how goes that place. safe nama ang KK overall, very province living pa rin which i liked when i first went in KK..

did a solo trip to KK (first time there). very laid-back place, friendly for travelers. para lang akong namamasyal sa luneta. most of them speak english din so you won't have a hard time going around the place.

we'll be coming to kota kinabalu.. my friends are planning to climb the mountain pero i'm still thinking if i can skip that part and do other things while they climb the mountain for 2 days..
