I really enjoyed our marriage counseling at CCF. The most practical experience for me, and until now, we still share with soon to be married couples snippets of our sessions. It took us a few months to complete because we did a one on one counseling, but super happy with all that we learned.  Even to my non-Christian friends, I would recommend them to go to CCF for the counseling.  :D

sis bio, sino sa CCF yung nagcounsel sa inyo? pwede humingi ng contact number? thanks so much sis!

^Ganun ba sis belle? May nabasa kasi ako sa w@w na they made the letter then they just asked the venue owner to sign it but that was year 2013 pa. I'm not sure with current process.

Thanks sis, I'll ask din si venue owner..

Sorry noob question din pala: will this be given after the ceremony or prior to application of marriage license?

Hello sisses! Newbie here. For those na wala pang church, I recommend Faith Baptist Church, along West Ave QC lang. :)

^sis what does SO stands for?

Our civil wedding was officiated by a Pastor. Our Christian wedding naman by a Bishop. Maybe i can help with your query.

*Edit: Sorry, right after posting, i realised SO is solemnizing officer.

I guess it doesn't matter as long as they have a certificate.

Ahh, pero what's the difference nung ceremony sis? Since a pastor officiated your civil wedding, did you include other symbols or may prayers and bible reading ba kayo during civil wedding?

This maybe too much to ask, pero can you give the difference ng flow ng ceremony between your civil wedding (c/o SO) and the Christian wedding?

Thanks sobra sis! :*

^that's okay sis. :)

During our civil wedding, which is officiated by a Pastor (the Pastor btw is hubby's uncle kasi they're a family of Pastors) he has the license to perform civil rites outside church that's why we chose him para lang hassle free. It's like the usual civil wedding lang ng mayor or judge. Difference lang siguro is we had the bible kasi nga, Christian lahat ng guests kaya he read a scripture parin, no symbols other than our rings. It was held in a restaurant function room with 30 guests, only immediate family and very close friends present.

On the other hand, our church wedding naman is the traditional version with all the symbols (ring, bible, arrhae/coin, veil, cord). Like any other Christian ceremony, nauuna lagi ang lighting of candles. It was held at the church of the risen lord at UP diliman. Since we have our own Pastor, we just submitted his "Authority to Solemnize" Certificate sa office. We had a marriage certificate ulit for signatory na lang ng PS on the day but syempre hindi na namin yun ifafile sa NSO since married na kami 3 yrs ago. Who will officiate your wedding sis? If the Pastor has a secretary or a church elder who look after this whole wedding matter, they can help you organise everything. Mas maganda if you have that someone who will take care of the ceremony para mas smooth ang flow on the day. :) very keen din kasi sila for rehearsals kaya lahat ng entourage, alam na anga gagawin.

Hi girls, question lang (sorry it's a very stupid one): did you have the candle-veil-cord ceremony in your wedding? Or is that only for Catholic weddings?

^ hi sis anneshirley. It's not a stupid question at all😊😊.  I was a secondary sponsor for a friend of mine who had a christian ceremony as well. And yes they also had a candle, cord, and veil. The only difference is that the candle bearers leads the bridal march. I believe may explanation si sis belle_v2g dito but can't remember if it's this thread or somewhere else.

^anneshirley, sis bonzaigirl is right. We also have the usual candle, veil and cord. Siguro the only difference (correct me if i am wrong) sa catholic pinapatay ang candles, sa Christian they don't. Right after i-light ng candle sponsors yung candles, tatayo ang couple to light the unity candle. Then we leave the candles na naka light til matapos ang ceremony. How do you guys do it sa catholic?

We got another pair to light the aisle before the march started (this is the very common practice sa christian weddings).

Thanks so much bonzaigirl and belle_v2g!

Reason I ask kasi is I wanted to understand if it's a religious rite (we were told in primary school that these were important symbols in the sacrament of marriage but candle-cord-veil ceremonies can only be found in Filipino weddings haha) or if it's mainly a Filipino tradition. My wedding kasi will be a mix of Chinese & Filipino influences so we're trying to understand what's necessary and what can be taken out  :-\

Re: your question on when candles are blown out during a Catholic ceremony, I'm afraid I haven't been very attentive in the church weddings I've been to so I can't say for certain  :-[ :-[ :-[

Hi I'm chinese-filipino din getting married in a Christian church. We chose St. Stephen's Parish (SSP) in binondo. Nag pamember na din kami since our house would be near that church. Used to attend VCF in malate though di ako nagpamember sa kanila. They allow non members to get married there but you would need to submit a letter of endorsement from your church. In my opinion mas maganda yung SSP than sa holy trinity church, if you've seen the place, although wala siyang garden type area. Airconditioned din yung church so maginhawa sa lahat.  :) Also, they don't allow you to bring your own pastor.
