Do you think 1 to 2 weeks vacation in NY/NJ is worth it?

I have been thinking about this and I only have maximum of 2weeks vacation for November. I really wanted to visit my uncle pero hindi ko alam if worth it ba considering na ang pamasahe ko is around 600-700USD.

My uncle is in NJ. For sure, I will be visiting the nearby states. I have a friend in Las Vegas and Miami that I wanted to visit too.

What is NJ/NY in November? The weather, fashion, shopping, and others.

Pwede ko din sana sila dalawin ng July/August kaya lang magkakaproblem naman ako sa pagkuha ng visa since yearly ang pagrenew ng contract ko. By the time na mag-aapply na ako ng visa, pa-expire na contract ko.

A 2-week vacation to NYC is very much worth-it if you ask me. You can spend the 1st week in NYC and the 2nd one to neighboring states. I'd personally recommend Boston, MA. NJ and NYC are just neighbors and they are pretty much accessible from one another.

I'm not sure if you plan to squeeze in your vacation to LV and Miami within the 2 week vacation that you've mentioned, if it is, I'd probably recommend that you do it on another time. LV alone should be in explored properly (you have the casinos, Hoover Dam, Valley of Fire, Grand Canyon etc).

I think pretty much weather in NYC is similar here in Chicago around Nov. That's fall season, so bundle up. While it may sunny at noon, it will be chilly on the early mornings and afternoon. Try to schedule your stay at around Thanksgiving so that you can experience Thanksgiving itself and the day after: Black Friday. The busiest sale day here in US.

parang na-excite ako magpunta ng NY... san pa bang magandang places  sa NY pwede mag-enjoy ang mga kids (4 and 3yrs old), I'm sure sa shopping ako lang ang mag-eenjoy.. san may mga murang coach bags dun?

Are you staying in NY or NJ? The list of Premium Outlets around the US can be seen here: http://www.premiumoutlets.com/centers/index.asp Just scroll the page down to check the outlet list per state. I think Woodbury Commons is the nearest one to NYC. I've been to the Jersey Shore outlet is it's a bit far, 2 hrs drive i think from NYC (depending on traffic). As for the hotels, are you sure you want to stay near the outlets? You can check Hotels.com for hotels near the outlets. But I'd recommend just staying in the City and just take a bus going to the outlet stores. Goodluck!

ok kayang magpunta dito sa december? We're thinking kung kaya ba namin ang weather during winter.. though winter din naman dito sa lugar namin. And worth ba mga sis ang pagvisit sa NY? sayang kasi ang mura ng airfare from bahrain to US... so we're still thinking kung tutuloy ba kame ngayon december...

ny weather is so unpredictable. one day it's super cold, the next day it's hot. it will be the middle of fall and winter so i suggest you have to come prepared. =)

how much kaya ang magagastos namin kung magstay kame sa Ny ng 3-4 weeks? how much ang average price ng mga food sa resto? and also sa taxi?  magstay kame siguro sa east brunswick if ever..

^ sis, medyo mahirap magestimate ng gastos sa food. Depende yan sa mga gusto nyo kainan. May mga mura (less than $10 per meal), average ($15-25), and mahal. What I do is I visit yelp.com tapos choose the restaurants I want to try. Visit their websites tapos look into their menu so I can estimate how much I will spend on such restaurant. Add mo na din yung tip kasi required din.

may mga cheap rooms/apartment kaya dito na pwede i-rent for 1 month lang,, para kasing nakakahiya makitira dun sa friend namin, buong family kame makikitira.. kame lang naman ng husband ko and our 2 kids.

try to check craigslist, although be wary din about renting an apartment, if you have relatives nearby, ask them to check the place before paying, kasi usually you will be asked for 50% dp on the place lalo na if short term.

$500 for a month? naku that's way too cheap for NY. lalo na at short term lang, medyo nakakapanghinala ang $500 for a month's stay, lalo na it's ridiculously expensive sa manhattan. sis, try to PM sis junetwentythree kasi new yorker sya (or she lives in the area), i can't be of any real help kasi we're here in Chicago. Goodluck. Baka you have friends or family that you can crash in while visiting, mas better yun. Just give the $500 that you'll pay for the rent, imo.

Ask ko lang-Hindi ba nakakatakot sa NY ngayon because of the bed bugs? Baka kung cheap ang accommodation, may bonggang infestation.

@berrycherry: What area of the city is this $500 room at? Manhattan's prices can range depending on the location of the place. Try this site http://www.nyfurnishedapartments.com/ or consider staying in the outer boroughs since everything is accessible by the subway.

^ Lol yeah. We're having that problem here too. Sinehan nga, takot na akong pasukan. But grabe ang panakot nila sa NY hotels.

Some inns in or surrounding LA have bedbugs na, I think. But di pa siya kasing sensationalized as NY.

yea grabe infestation ngaun ng bed bugs sa NY. Pati UN Bldg pinasok...although bed bugs is everywhere...maski dito sa toronto may bed bugs din. Before ka humiga sa kama ng hotel check mo muna, lift the side of the bed remove the covers, then kapain mo yun sides ng bed, dun kasi sila nagtatago madalas. Bring lavender water takot sila sa amoy nun hehe obvious ba na takot ako sa bed bugs?

^ Yeah it shouldn't. Nakaka-paranoid nga lang. And in the big cities na madaming tourists from all over, madali talaga kumalat. Not all travelers and establishments pa are as cautious. So ingat ingat talaga.

yea...diba may news pa sinara sila ang Nike Store sa NY city dahil sa infestation for sure galing yun sa customer. Hindi maiiwasan lalo na tourist capital ang NY. Ingat lang talaga.

hi mga sis,, question ulit.. di ba mahirap magcommute dyan sa NY? and from east brunswick,gano kalapit? namomroblema kame sa transportation namin.. may mga kids kasi kame, ayaw namin sila mapagod masyado.

^ How old are you kids sis? Stroller age pa ba? Kung stroller age, then maybe mahirapan kayo ng konti sa commute. Cuz not all stations are stroller friendly. Also commuting during rush hours with a stroller might be tough. But otherwise, you'll be fine. The subway system is really easy to learn.

So far as commuting from New Brunswick, I'm not familiar. I think you might need to take the Path train? Look it up online...NJ Transit and it should guide you as to how to connect lines and such.
