^yup native speakers yung mga instructors sa the bridge. And yung maganda dun lahat ng tao friendly Kahit hindi mo sila kilala pwede mo kausapin hehe. They also go the extra mile to help students learn. May interaction with other class and they ask for feedback after the class if okay ba yung class or hindi, saan ka nahihirapan or what

hahaha sis fookien din yung first choice ko sa the bridge and they were like huh? why would you want to learn fookien its only a dialect?! Pero I insisted gusto ko talaga fookien so I can converse with my chinese friends. They said they can arrange that since that's what I wanted. After I enrolled I told my chinese friends about it and they said learn mandarin nalang instead of fookien! so I told the bridge I changed my mind gusto ko mandarin nalang hahaha

hi sis m_lim, totoo yung sabi ni sis happybunny na mas ok mag aral ng mandarin kaysa sa fookien kasi mas ginagamit ang mandarin kaysa sa fookien.. from my perspective [textspeak!] fookien kasi ginagamit lang siya sa mga friends mo at sa family, sa bahay niyo, etc. in short mas less formal siya unlike sa mandarin, kahit sino magegets ka at kahit di mo kakilala pag nagask ka ng question in mandarin you'll be answered, di ko naman sinasabi na di ka sasagutin ng tao pag you'll ask in fookien pero mas formal ang mandarin..

I'm serious about enrolling din, sa january nga lang pa.   Saan kaya most effective mag enrol?

okay naman mandarin class kaso pansin ko lang mas okay ata matuto kung hindi after work yung schedule para fresh yung mind. They're teaching us how to construct sentences and i admit medyo barok pa ata ako hahaha sabi ng instructor namin it takes time naman daw eh. I need to practice practice practice!

for those taking up classes in berlitz or bridge, ano yung method of teaching nila? like activities... thanks.

sa the bridge they teach in a classroom, you have a sort of book na naka bind and you can take down notes with your notebook. The instructor will teach you the correct sound, pinyin, etc. and then you have to repeat. maliit lang yung student ratio in a class so I think you will really learn. We have quizzes after each session to test what we've just learned. Sometimes they arrange mixed class wherein 2 classes will be combined in a session so meron kaming interaction with others.

same thing with berlitz.  you have a manual and you can take down notes.  the manual is also in pinyin.  it doesn't have instructions in english.  maliit din ang student-teacher ratio. you're going to repeat the words/phrases/sentences you've learned.  and your laoshi will ask you questions in mandarin that you will answer.  and role-playing exercises.  you won't even realize that you're having conversations in mandarin already.  you'll have assignments and quizzes.  then level assessments.  sa level 1, oral lang.  level 2, oral and written pinyin.  level 3 yata may konting characters na.  native speaker ang instructors and there are days when you'll have different teachers para nasasanay ka sa iba't ibang accents.  the mainlanders sounds different from the taiwanese and the singaporeans.

i see.  after work ba schedule nyo mga sis?  how many hours ang isang level sa berlitz and the bridge?  and how much?  you think after first level, you'll be looking forward to next one or di na?  I'm asking kasi I intend to take all levels, hoping na kaya ko ng makaintindi and makipag-usap in mandarin maski barok lang.

what about UP?  meron ba dito sa UP?  mas malapit kasi sakin.

sa berlitz, they ask you if you already know a bit of the language, then they will assess kung saang level ka na.  after work yung schedule namin nun.  twice a week and about an hour and a half every session.  i looked forward to the next level after finishing level one.  i still look forward to taking classes. yun nga lang, hindi kaya ng schedule ko dahil night shift ako.

Ang pinamimilian ko for Manda-Beginner Class, UP Diliman, Berlitz(if kaya ng budget) and The Bridge.  Meron pa bang iba?  Saan kaya ms effective?  And, meron na ba ditong product of above mentioned schools na naging manda-conversant talaga?
