Breakfast na hindi de-lata or processed meat
« on: September 24, 2006, 11:07:12 pm »
hi!! breakfast is a big deal for us. wag na masarap ang lunch and dinner, wag lang ang breakfast. because i and my hubby can skip both but not the breakfast. pero, im trying to get rid of the usual de lata and processed meat. for one, both of us may history sa cancer. pero... masarap talaga ang mga processed meat e!! ayaw naman namin mag ulam ng tipong pang lunch or dinner na (like sinigang, paksiw, etc.)

what can you suggest?

why not try a vegetable breakfast?... you can make an omelet with all-veggies like potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, etc... home made beef tapa or macaroni soup... just do everything by yourself and they dont come from cans, safe ka na dyan...

^Yup, omelette sounds good! Chop mushrooms, tomatoes, cheese, yummm! Or if may left over ulam kayo, like shrimp, crab, super sarap din in an omelette. Also try veggies, I personally like cauliflower and brocolli :)

Tama si sis Ielle, if you make it yourself, it's safer, cause you control what goes in it. And you see what goes in it! Walang mystery meat. You can also make your own tapa so you can control the sodium, flavorings, etc - at home we use sirloin, sarap, parang steak! :D

You can go the usual route with oatmeal + banana. It's yummy and extremely healthful. Mabubusog ka pa longer :)

kapag heavy breakfast,we like daing na bangus (boneless) in breakfast.
also fried pork chop
salted eggs with tomatoes
fried chicken
home made tapa (timplado lang ng salt, calamansi, at konting soysauce)
minsan
tortang giniling
chicken adobo( yung hindi masabaw)
omelette with mushroom

kapag light lang:
oatmeal
champorado
boiled egg with cheese and mayo

omelette -- One of our favorites is spanish omelette. The hubby and I cannot have enough of this.
oatmeal -- filling and has fiber too. You can add Milo, chocolate syrup or fruit to make it yummier.
grilled cheese sandwich -- my kids love this. And they can eat this on their way to school.

I avoid processed food too so I make my own longganiza and tapa. It's easy lang. Follow basic recipe for longganiza and tapa but omit the salitre and other preservatives.

Btw, just a warning to everyone: salitre is a very toxic substance. If you use too much of it in processing your own meat (like homemade corned beef), it can land you in the hospital. I read about one such case in Food Magazine where the writer recounted that two of them ended up in the ER!

try nyo rin po iba-ibang klase ng omelette. gusto ko yung japanese omelette rice, called 'omu-rice' in most restos. :) simple lang gawin and very versatile kasi pwede mo ilagay sa loob kahit anong filling ang gusto mong ihalo sa rice. like green peas, corn, leftover meat, and others. :)

Our usual breakfast:

- beef tapa (home-made lang: soysauce, calamansi, garlic, salt, sugar)
- smoked fish (tinapa, bangus)
- dried fish (danggit, tuyo, dilis)
- daing na bangus
- eggs
- omelette (our fave is crab omelette)
- pancakes
- salted egg w/tomatoes (sarap nito!)

usually, sunny-side up egg ang almusal namin. never to friend rice. hot chocolate made ng mom ko

pag di sunny-side up, nagluluto ako ng tuyo (sarap lalo na pag tag-ulan)

ang pinakamadalas eh oatmeal with fruits

hello irene,
Read ur concern abt breakfast.  there are some processed tuna products that you may consider...being healthy, masarap pa siya...products such as Tuna Embutido Tuna Ham, Tuna Tapa, Tuna Tocino, Tuna Burger Patties and Tuna BBQ (the best!).  Endless choices for variety breakfast.
They are easy to prepare and at the same time, yummy (doesnt even taste fish-y!) and healthy pa.

sinaing na tulingan
paksiw na bangus (sarap nito sa fried rice)
porkchop
fried chicken or chicken barbecue

basta ikaw ang gagawa sis, makokontrol mo yung mga ingredients at alam mong hindi makakasama sa health ninyo :)

I too almost always prepare my breakfast in the evening.  Then I just reheat it for breakfast.

1.  Tortang talong
2.  Daing na bangus and egg
3.  Giniling na pork with potatoes
4.  Breaded porkchop

You might want to try Peaches and banana topped with cottage cheese!  I swear its very delish! :D
