Grabe!

?Voting 70 to 11, the Committee on Legislative Franchises dashed ABS-CBN's hopes to resume operations under a new franchise,... ?

?Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano described the committee?s work as fair, impartial, thorough.?

From articles.
It was denied by a vast majority of legislators, and it was confirmed by the speaker din.

These are the Politicians that Filipinos voted for. Including the Employees of abs cbn.

Don?t you think there?s something wrong with our government if they?re not truly representing what?s right for the country? (allegedly)

Can they not be trusted na ibinoto sila to make sure proper and just laws are passed?

Are they doing their jobs lang talaga that?s why they voted No or tamad lang magbasa at Takot mapag initan ni Duterte? Or Baka may mga reasons talaga na matindi that?s why they didn?t grant the franchise.

Question ulit, kung 2014 pa yung renewal, so panahon pa ni Pnoy dine-delay na sila ng Congress nung time na yun? Ano ba talaga nangyari nung 2014?

Well, there are two stories. On this Congress, tinanong sila specifically about this. Ang sagot nila: THEY THOUGHT THEY HAD ENOUGH TIME.  So, kayo na mag-isip kung ano ibig sabihin nyan...hahaha! Second is there was a fall out diumano between the Aquinos and Lopezes. They were counting on Mar or Poe to  win apparently so mabibigyan.

^Sis again PREJUCIDE. Even before pa magkaron ng hearing decided na sila to say NO. LEGAL ang basehan sis. We still live in a DEMOCRACY as far as I know.

Again, hindi po sya court of law, Sister where they need to prove that what they did is legal or not. Eto ay hearing  so that they are given the opportunity to plead and ask the Filipino people through the Congress for a favour to give them the franchise. Nanliligaw po sila, Sister. I heard that clarified many times by Congressmen and some lawyers. Yung kaso nila about the violations will be heard in the Blue Ribbon committee. So ibang time and place yon. So kesyo maraming hindi moral sa government, di na tayo pwedeng mag-demand for that? Mali naman ata yon. Ang bottomline lang naman dito, Sister is: WHAT IS IT FOR US, THE FILIPINO PEOPLE to grant them that franchise so they can make money off it? Ano ang mapapala natin? After the hearing, ang daming lumabas na questionable business practice? For instance, tax avoidance. Sure, it is legal but is it moral?

Even the state run channel PTV4 has contractual employees, they even had a case with COA in the past years because of unsupported documents to prove that they paid the proper salary and benefits of their contractual employees. Until now, may employees sila na Di pa nila nababayaran. Nasan ang moral dun. Isn't it the same with ABS-CBN?

So yun ba dapat ang golden standard? So if we give them the franchise, okay lang sa yo ang ganyang business practice?

Walang violations. These are according to institutions/government agencies themselves. In paper lahat, documented. STILL IN DENIAL ang congress because again they already made up their minds.
Just because they were cleared by BIR doesn't mean it is moral. Pati so Cordova ng NTC.

Isn't it enough that the president said so himself that he will make sure that the Lopez's are out at hindi mare-renew yan. In what world isn't it clear that someone orchestrated all this...for what...we don't know yet. But for sure we will see it soon kung sino ang bibigyan ng frequency. Tapos now pati legality ng ownership is being questioned. In what world isn't it clear that the Lopez owns ABS-CBN then Marcos seized it so di ba MORALLY right lang din na ibalik sa tamang may-ari ang company after martial law? Nasan ang moral dito?

CORRECTION, Sister. Ang sagot: they though they had enough time.

Sure, sinabi nya yan but did ABS-CBN gave enough proof na hindi questionable ang kanilang business practice and DESERVE to be given that PRIVILEGE? Parang hindi eh! Did you know that the government bailed out the Lopezes many times sa mga pagkakautang nila prior to Martial Law? Ang tinatanong sa kanila is how they manage to get back their properties after EDSA 1. The law requires proper documentation of it. Hindi pa nga natapos yung pagtatanong about their land titles. Wala silang maipakita....LOL! Nakakaloka!!!

Moral and legal lang if it's convenient to what they want to push?

ABS-CBN is not a perfect company. Walang ganun kahit saang parte ng mundo. But they admitted their mistakes and are correcting it. Why not give them again a chance for the sake of the employees.

The thing is hindi man lang sinaalang alang ng congress ang mawawalan ng trabaho. Not just the employees of ABS-CBN but also other people who benefits from the business that they get from ABS-CBN. Kahit naman yan 2-5 years franchise lang until matapos ang pandemic then after mag hearing sila uli and check if may ginawa ang company na mareform yung mga ayaw nila.

In this time na halos lahat ng company nagiscale down saan hahanap ng trabaho ang mga employees na matatanggal? Sabi ko nga in one of my posts here, kung bibigyan ng regular work yung matatanggal with same benefits and salary then sige na ipasara nila.
MERON, ang dami and for 25 years hindi nila naitama? Up to now, hindi pa rin nila naitatama. Again, they are trying to persuade the Filipino people that they are worthy of that privilege. Refer to my analogy pertaining to panliligaw in my previous post.

Bottomline is, this is probably their best case scenario. Kasi kung nabigyan sila ng franchise, mabubusi pa lalo yung ibang hindi pa na-discuss tapos meron pang quo warranto which I heard eh medyo mas nakakagimbal pa. Eh baka masampahan ng kaso kung merong magsasampa for the violations. In other words, they are surrounded by a cesspool of sewer left, right, top, bottom, east, west, north and south that they themselves created. Susunod na hearing ay Meralco! Ay, kasama na naman sila.

Ang employees nila ang palagi nilang sinasangkalan in this situation. Pero, sa hearing kitang kita that they mistreated a lot them. They are the collateral damage. Pwede nilang bigyan ng generous separation package ang mga yan so that they can survive for at least a couple of years. Pero out of the 11,000 that they are claiming, 4K lang ang regular.

ETA: Ang drama nila from the beginning. Kapag hindi sila nabigyan, it is a curtailment of freedom of the press. They are still operating and still existing as a business. So Youtuber na lang sila for now...LOL! And if I may add, yung violation nila sa pay-per-view nila during Pacquiao at Mayweather. Ang sagot nila kung bakit pa nila itinuloy kahit pinagsabihan na sila ng NTC that they can not, kesyo nagbayad na raw yung mga subscribers at responsibility nila sa taong bayan na ibigay sa kanila ng pinangako nila. Hahaha, comedy minsan yung hearing. Hindi pedeng i-refund?

Ay naku, bye na talaga!

Not gonna argue with your opinion sis. As you said, pwede naman panoorin at magresearch.

Me too. I don't understand how some people doesn't have empathy.

Sa akin lang, as an employee of ABS-CBN before malaki ang naitulong sa akin ng kumpanya. Naaawa ako sa mga mawawalan ng trabaho. Pandemya ngayon. It's so heartless.

Kahit ilang years pa ipasara ang ABS-CBN, they will bounce back. Pero pano ang mga empleyado? Sana lang tuloy tuloy pa rin yung Bantay Bata, Lingkod Bayan and other charities ng company. FYI, hindi lang sa donations nila kinukuha ang funds for their charities but also from their advertisers na mawawala since they're not on free tv.

^ sis, I think they can still do online ads, web shows, etc?

Ako naman kasi hindi sa walang empathy. It?s how things are run in the Philippines that?s frustrating. Kaso that?s reality eh.

Sa business Kasi kahit naman we defend some projects to management, Hindi awa ang umiiral. It?s the reason behind pursuing projects. Kung legal ba, Kung kikita ba or what.

Unfortunately it?s not a charity case Kasi na Puede idaan na kawawa.
Parang ang labas eh nag a-ala robinhood, magpayaman, to be able to help the poor so the masses can continuously follow them.

As a third party viewer. Tingin ko nga parang masyado naging high profile abs, naging powerful in a sense dahil Marami followers, na possible naging kinaiinggitan ng Maraming Politicians.
Sa damiii ng nasa committee, how come ni walang 20% man lang to vote for the renewal of franchise?

I don?t know the answer.

Conclusion Lang ang gulo gulo ng politics and pamamalakad Kasi Sa pinas. Yun Lang masasabi ko.

Kaya sa next elections, people really have to vote wisely. Not because kilala mo sa pangalan, not because he did a favor for you (now), but because you believe that the person can truly and sincerely serve the interest of the people and the country.

^I agree with you sis. Sadly that's how things are run in the Philippines.

Marami silang nasagasaan. During the time of Pnoy, ABS-CBN was also accused of being bias because of reporting mamasapano, dengvaxia etc. It shows na our governement officials doesn't know what journalism is. It's there to serve as check and balance. Gusto yata nila PR ang media. If they want praises, trabaho yun ng state run channel.

Yes, they can broadcast online. Although not as profitable as before but I think it's better na rin because dun naman talaga papunta na ang media around the world sa web/digital. Napush lang and ABS-CBN to fast forward to that avenue. Yun lang wag naman sana manalo ang evil people in the government with their attempt to seize the company again by questioning the legality of the ownership.

Another good thing that came out of this is now more people are aware that they have to vote wisely next election.

^ there?s good and bad.

Hindi mo na iwasan na hindi maging biased ang abs Kasi the owner also owns other businesses that they want to protect.

On one hand I?ve witnessed how media (hindi Lang abs but also other channel) can sensationalise the news. And make you look bad kahit na hindi ganun. This I?m speaking not as a third party but as first hand info from the person/company that they?re reporting.

Tapos nung nag end ang franchise ng abs and all issues surrounding it, ang Hirap humanap ng article that fully explains both sides.

Second issue ko Meralco. Why are they being protected by everyone? I don?t know. Maybe because they can just shutdown your electricity anytime they want?
Pero sa totoo lang sumosobra na talaga Meralco, but why it doesn?t get its way in the news?
Dati Kasi obvious yung breakdown ba may VAT line. Pero now iba na breakdown - universal charges, government taxes etc. Parang VAT = government taxes. I?m not complaining about the VAT Pero para icharge nila end consumer for stolen electricity and magpataw pa ng VAT doon ay Sobra na.
For kWh lost in their system, Wala sila pakialam If we consumed it or not, but rather they will just charge everything to paying consumers.  Worse, they will add VAT on that!  Fair ba yun?
For example every household consumes 100kwh. And there are 10 households. So there are a total of 1000 kWh consumed.
Para sa kanila, Hindi nila responsibility to find the culprits. They will just charge everyone the 1200kwh PLUS VAT on it! Basta maka collect Lang sila ng total kWh.
This is one of the reasons why pinas has one of the most expensive electricity rates in Asia (if not buong Mundo)!

Did this ever get reported? No? Why? I don?t know. 🙄

^unfair naman yata sis to put the blame on Duterte. Yes, he was very vocal of his disappointment and was really angry when his campaign ads was not shown during the last election which he actually paid ABS for it. He did say that he has forgiven ABS for it, and left the decision to congress. In faireness to ABS, they did offer to return the money, but Duterte said to just donate it to charity.
Sis Kvan has actually explained it in the most simplest way she can. Yes, there are still some questions, issues that needs to be clarified though.  I think mashadong nagging lax din ang ABS with their franchise and also, Siguro akala nila reality show eto that they can get away with it by getting the sympathy votes and not sticking to the rules.

Tama!

So true!

Update: In his speech today. Duterte is so proud and said that he was able to dismantle the oligarchy without even declaring martial law.

I would rather live with oligarchs who are giving jobs and helping the people rather than with these "trapo" in the government. I hope people will vote wisely in 2022.
