awkward and tensed situation after submitting resignation letter
« on: September 16, 2016, 03:44:05 pm »
I just submitted my resignation letter yesterday to my boss. He was surprised. Sabi niya kausapin daw niya iyong other boss ko.

Kaso after that, ang bigat sa pakiramdam. I can't look at them in the eyes.

Much better naman magpaalam. :(

How did you deal mga sis and bros after submitting your letter?

be confident about your decision sis.
and yes, mas maigi na magpaalam ka ng maayos dahil nakaka sira ng work cycle yung may mawawala na lang bigla lalo kung may trabahong ikaw dapat tumapos.

^ Thank you sis. No regrets naman ako.

In my first two jobs I had that feeling of guilt and hiya after giving them my notice. I think that's normal.
I told my mentor (who coaches me careerwise) about feeling guilty when giving that notice and jumping to a better opportunity. You know what she told me -- I need to look after myself: career growth, financial (of course this is important!), benefits (if it's important to you) etc. anything better than the job you're leaving is of course a better choice. Better nga di ba.
Who is going to look after you careerwise? Is it the employer you're leaving? Of course not. They are just after theirs. THEY CAN FUNCTION WITHOUT YOU, I tell you. So don't be guilty. Life goes on for them so should you 😄
Think about this advise when moving to another better opportunity. Because girl, I tell you, you'll be flying places! Like I did!

^^ Sis, salamat sa payo. Nadagdagan confidence ko sa decision ko. :)

^ Naku sis. Buti ka nga pinakawalan ka agad. Ako ayaw pa nila. Kung pwede daw mag extend daw ako until the end of the year. No way. Ayoko na. :(

Sis napansin ko lang you're always very conscious sa sasabihin at iisipin ng iba about you.. whatever your decision is, be confident about it. Wag mo masyado isipin na baka magalit sila or nega ang dating sa kanila kasi the truth is wala naman sila magagawa kung hindi naman nila kayang gandahan ang offer sayo.

^ Sis, thank you sa reply. Always worrying what other people think. :(

Back to topic, yes, desidido na talaga ako magresign. Nakakaloka sila.

^sis di mo ba pwede sabihin sa kanila na may mas better opportunity career wise? Baka that way makipaghaggle sila and tapatan nila ang offer nung isa. :) or para lang alam nila yung concern mo kasi point of improvement din sa kanila yun

^^sis, what are your reservations bakit hindi mo sinabi na lilipat ka na? maliit lang kasi ang pinas, ang mga boss mo noon pwede mo maging boss in the future. and i think telling the truth will build connections. you might need them in the future.

^ Ang concern ko kasi sis pag sinabi kong may new job na ako, it might imply na ayaw ko sa mga current boss ko. :(

Hi sis, I'm an employer and nothing is better than telling the truth. Para sakin lang ha kasi we take care of our employees and marami sa kanila don't tell the truth when they leave.

I like what you did when you gave a full month's notice kasi maraming employees two weeks lang tapos mabibitin kami sa scheduling ng projects.

I think what your boss wants to do is provide a counter offer siguro kasi they need you. It's best if you say the truth nalang kasi it will help the company rin in understanding why their employees are leaving so they can improve next time.

Tama rin sai sis britzm. Never burn bridges kasi you'll never know if you will need these connections in the future. Pwedeng isipin mo never pero you never know talaga kung aangat ka ng position and you need the services of this company.

^ Hi sis. Thank you sa advice.

I don't want to burn bridges kaya nga nagpapaalam ako ng maayos eh. When I say maayos, iyong nagbigay ako ng 30-day notice at hindi ko directly inamin na kaya ako nagresign because of the low pay and lack of benefits.

Gusto nga nila mag extend ako until the end of the year kasi kung ngayon daw mahihirapan sila makahanap ng kapalit.

You wanted to resign and there's nothing they can do about it. You have a legit reason to leave... Pero they will still let you go, kasi yun naman na decision mo.

Pagdating ng hapon, magkasama sila sa meeting with a client. I am assuming napag-usapan na nila.

Kinabukasan, Sept.

Kaka-usapin daw ako ni Boss 1 na kung pwede mag extend ako until the end of the year.

Saka kailangan ba talaga iyong magti-take ng bar?

Hehe.

Anyway, I agree sa sinabi mo sis. Praning lang talaga ako sa iisipin nila if I tell them I have a new job na. I like them. Oo, mababait sila.

Hi sis, well this might be useless na pero if you told them the real reason you won't really be burning bridges. What burns bridges are actually lies (at least for me). Most employees think that when they give  a reason or excuse, their bosses believe it but we don't. We just accept it but we can see through the lies because most of us have been there already.

Maybe not all bosses are the same pero most of us know our limitations and what we can offer sa employees. We spend days striving hard to para employees would want to stay. As I mentioned before, we really want to know the truth so we can strive better next time to provide well for our employees.

If they are silent about your resignation, they are most probably thinking lang of how they can get through this roadblock. Problemado sila (seriously!) so give them time.

Not trying to defend them rin pero when our employees leave us it's always a case of "mapipilayan kami" dahil projects are always scheduled ahead of time. It's the plain truth. When I was an employee, I knew the company was short in manpower and I had to wait a few months to wait for a new hire before I could find it in my heart to leave because the company has been good despite everything. 30 days is never enough time to find a replacement but that's the only required time in most contracts.

It's still your right to leave anytime and I stand by my opinion na okay ang ginawa mo na nag 30 day notice ka dahil yun naman talaga ang required. I guess tama si sis shinies na there's guilt because you didn't tell the truth and there will always be a way for them to know that after you leave.
