MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines has the “strongest growth prospects” among countries in developing East Asia and the Pacific, largely due to efforts to pick up public investments, increase revenues and improve the investment climate, the World Bank said in a report. In its East Asia and Pacific Economic Update, the multilateral lending institution slightly raised the economic growth forecast for the region to 6.4 percent, up one percentage point from the previous forecast in April. Projection for 2017 was retained at 6.2 percent, with growth tapering off to six percent in 2018.
