Burn out happens when external demands exceed your internal resources. External demands could be parenting, work-related, taking care of sick loved ones, debts, etc, while internal resources could be substantial income, emotional strength, patience, etc. These demands could  span from a short to prolonged period that can exhaust your inner resources. Furthermore, the stress caused by these demands may be exacerbated when your spouse is unsupportive, apathetic, or couldn't support/help you for some reasons.

Suggestions or recommendations:

1. Rest, relax, rejuvinate. You can take a vacation or have a regular me-time, prayer time, or any activities that will fill your love tank.
2. Ask for a specific help/support from your spouse or other relatives. For example, I would ask my husband to date my daughter when I want some me-time.
3. If possible, lessen your commitments, unnecessary expenditures, and the likes. Just stick to your top priorities for yourself and your family.

As what sis super bratinella pointed out, it happens to all of us, it's a fact of life, especially for us living in a city. The question is, how are you going to cope? And if you, as an individual and as a couple, could not cope with the stress, it will inevitably spill into your marriage.

At least kayo, nagsesecond thoughts muna kahit "me time" lang ang iniisip niyo.

Bakit?

She gets to work.  And it is the kind of work that she chose.  I initially wanted a job for her that is near our residence, yung tipong 8am-5pm at walang overtime para marami syang oras sa bahay at sa 4 year old son namin.

Ako ang nagpapatulog at nakikipaglaro sa anak namin despite my full time work na minsan may long and late hours din. I, on the other hand, had to give up my extra "rakets" so I can spend more hours at home dahil nga wala siya at yung pamangkin niya (na bata pa din) lang ang kasama ng anak namin sa bahay pag wala kami.

Kahit sex life namin, nagsuffer na dahil sa gusto niyang set up.  Dahil sa sobrang pagod at puyat palagi na siyang walang gana.  In fairness, pinagbibigyan naman niya ako kapag ako ang nag-initiate.  Pero yung sessions namin na siya ang nag-iinitiate, halos zero na or very far between.  Honestly nakakabother sa akin yun.

Imagine my surprise, girls,  nung siya pa ang nagsabing burn out na siya.  Posting this here is actually kinda ego-depleting for me.

parang gusto niyang bumalik sa pagiging dalaga. ganun madalas ang pino-point out ko sa kanya pag kino-confront ko sya. ang sagot niya palagi, hindi naman daw. nabibigla lang daw siya sa sudden life outside of the house kasi right after our wedding naging fulltime house wife siya for more than a year.  tas nung mga time bago siya magwork, ako naman noon ang palaging ginagabi, trabaho sa weekends at holidays, etc.  i know in a way, na-dprive din siya ng maraming "me time" dahil she was only 22 when she gave birth and undergraduate. di na rin siya nakabalik sa college after giving birth.

^I agree with our sissies here bro baka may IBA si MRS. Naisip ko lang bakit iyong mga officemates ko dito na may mga anakis kahit gaano ka-busy from Monday to Friday still manage to take care of their kids. Kung ako may anak I will always look forward to weekends kasi ibig sabihin family time iyon. Maaga ba kayo naging mag-asawa at nagka-anak?

Kasi ako kahit Super busy, as in 70 hours a week, I have to make time with my loved ones.

And when it comes to prioritising trips, time with friends/colleagues, mas inuuna ko mga anak ko, my partner and family. Kaya di marami friends ko kasi nga once I have time, I'm with family. so I Guess di normal wife mo.

@boytoy

Ang bait mo namang asawa... Parang naaalala ko tuloy yung husband ko...

Actually nakakarelate ako sa wife mo. Ang sa akin naman church activities. Just got active in our parish last july, then na-appoint agad akong coordinator, then meron pa kong isang ministry. Para bang I`m in my element.

Napansin ko after ng 3-day event na kinoordinate ko, nawala ako sa family life rhythm. Na-pabayaan ko yung ibang household duties. Yung anak ko, sumusobra na sa two hours yung tv time. And then for the first time, late yung submission ko ng requirement sa school niya. Para ngang nabalik ako sa buhay single.

But of course, meron akong self-awareness na may nag-iba sa rhythm ko. And right now, I`m striving to return the old habits and eventually keep the balance with a new addition in my life, which is yung active parish involvement.

Going back to you, hindi mo naman agad pwedeng i-confront yung wife mo kung may iba sya. Perhaps, you can start by reminding her of her old rhythm and suggest that she learns to balance and lessen other activities (eg pagtambay tambay). Kasi her activities are also taking a toll on you, on your marriage, on your kid, and on your family as a whole.

Tama yun heart to heart talk. Wag confrontation.

@yourboyToy bro when was the last time you and your wife went on a vacation? Had a romantic date? Or surprised her? Try to make your relationship exciting para di nabu-burnout si Wife. And also try ninyo mag-out of town and unwind sandali kahit overnight lang ng kayong 2 muna (iwan muna si baby sa grandparents if possible). Goodluck.

ladies, salamat sa inyong lahat...

tungkol sa mga payo nyo..

heart to heart talk = check. nakarami na kami niyan in the last 2 years or so.  the fact that she is still working is a result of those talks. ako ang nagconcede. ayaw kasi niya i-give up yun.  i conceded on several conditions, like she should make sure na laging may lutong ulam sa bahay and that she spend her rest days with us or at least with our son.  nagagawa naman niya pero hindi nga consistent. nakukulangan ako.

anyway, how did your husband deal with it? nahihirapan kasi ako how to deal with it? sobrang nakakainit ng ulo. im close to losing patience.

it looks like na overcome niyo na, right? how did you do it? sa part mo, what adjustments did you make? what amount of presence/absence at home do you think is tolerable for any spouse?  when is it too much?

Same here, burned out wife as well. Nakakapagod na rin yung ako ng ako gumagawa ng way just to make this marriage work. Lahat naman ginawa ko na, i quit my job, i make sure everything is maayos sa house, i don't have a yaya so i do the housework. I am a good cook as well. I'm super hands on to our only daughter. Never din ako nagpabaya sa sarili ko, I'm still very much in shape and hindi ako losyang. My only flaw was mabilis ako magsungit and mainis, lalo kapag yung tipong ako i do everything, i always give my best tapos si hubby nakahintay na lang palagi, hindi sweet, hindi thoughtful, hindi caring. Pati sexy time gusto ako pa ang mag-initiate. My only fault i guess was mabilis mag init ulo ko, which is madalas na i-raise everytime nagkatampuhan kami and we talk. Pero yung pagiging mainisin ko is the consequence of him being sooo insensitive and coz he's taking me for granted all the time. Hindi naman ako perfect, I'm trying my best pero sya para bang he's not.

May guys talaga na insensitive or hindi showy but that doesn't mean hindi ka mahal or napapangitan sayo.

[insert expletives here].

pero matanong ko lang, pretty gurl,  how do u contribute to your family's finances after quitting work?  minsan kasi yan ang ginagamit ng mga lalaki na bargaining chip sa pagiging "superior".  I confess, I sometimes fall into that perception of superiority dahil ako ang nagpapasok ng mas malaking pera between the two of us.  have you considered working parttime? or getting a job na hindi masyado demanding sa oras so you can still be a hands on mom?

Also, have you ever thought na baka naman insecure sayo si hubby dahil pretty and sexy ka pa rin kaya sya nagpapa hard to get sa kama? you know, ego trip ba. parang defense mechanism ng isang depleted ego.

by the way, your good looks, (as your case proves) is not a guarantee na magiging sweet, cuddly and atat sya sayo.  they say sex is highly psychological.  baka naman may pinagdadaanan talagang issues si hubby mo at work or family na hindi mo pa nauusisa?  try talking more...

I`m curious, how did this affect the way you relate with your wife? I`m referring to your feeling superior being the bigger earner.

sis prettygurl00001, sabi nila sa relationship daw two way pero mas malimit ang nag work is if you give your best kahit hindi nag expect sa partner so technically one way, kasi pag nag expect ka then walang na return back sa lahat ng effort mag start ka maging dissapointed at mag aaway pero kung mag bibigay ka regardless and no matter what tutal mag asawa naman kayo, kahit sa dulo you give your best, at least pag time na para bumitiw ka no one can blame you even yourself kasi ginawa mo lahat para sa relationship ninyo, kahit ikaw you will quit smiling and moving forward without what ifs.

Yesterday,  nagsagutan kami mag-asawa. Im just really tired! Sahm, No yaya since I gave birth to my daughter, ebf from the very beginning, that makes her extra clingy lol... and i do all the chores at home. Nung sinagot ako ng asawa ko kahapon nung nagaway kami, narealize ko din yung sacrifices niya, i know he's tired din but  he's doing everything to make our lives as comfortable as he can. Today, he helped out kahit papano sa chores... i think communcation talaga is a big help amd syempre time out para marecharge naman ang  sarili.

boytoy, hindi kaya you were making your wife feel inferior nung time that she was staying at home kaya she wanted to have her own "career"?

Barista or white collar job, you have to give it to her na at least she is trying to make something of herself kahit as you say, she did not finish college.  Coffee barista ba siya?  Natanong ko lang kasi alam ko starting is 15k diyan plus overtime pay, benefits and more.  And for someone who did not finish college, hindi na saguaro masama yan?  :)

And bro, don't take it the wrong way pero hindi ba kaya ng salary to get a kasambahay to the things you want her to do like linis, laba and luto?
